Compact, Reliable, and Built to Last — The Perfect Onboard Charger for our Can-Am Spyder's
The NOCO GENIUS2D is one of those products that instantly shows its quality the moment you open the box. Everything from the packaging to the finish on the charger feels solid and well-engineered. The components are thick, durable, and clearly designed for long-term, real-world use—far beyond the flimsy build you find in cheaper trickle chargers. I purchased two of these units and mounted them on both of our Can-Am Spyder's, and they’ve been flawless. Installation is refreshingly simple. The compact size makes it easy to work with, and the direct-mount design means no extra parts or awkward routing. The only challenge—and it’s a minor one—is finding the best permanent location inside the Spyder’s engine compartment. Space is tight, so a little creativity is required, but once mounted, the charger fits securely and stays out of the way. The wiring length is generous, and the connectors feel premium, locking into place with confidence. Performance is where this charger shines. It maintains the battery perfectly, keeping both bikes ready to ride through cold mornings and long periods of non-use. The smart charging logic is accurate and safe, eliminating the guesswork and babysitting that older chargers often require. For something that draws only 2 amps, the level of monitoring and regulation is impressive. It behaves like chargers that cost double or triple the price, especially those branded for “powersports” but offer no additional value. Because it’s fully automatic and designed to remain onboard full-time, it transforms battery maintenance into a simple plug-and-walk-away experience. For anyone who owns a Spyder, a motorcycle, an ATV, or even a small boat, this charger adds huge convenience for very little cost. Pros • High-quality components and durable construction • Compact, low-profile size ideal for onboard mounting • Simple, straightforward installation • Smart charging logic maintains batteries flawlessly • Excellent value compared to premium powersports chargers Cons • Finding the perfect mounting spot inside a Can-Am Spyder takes a little planning If you want a dependable, professional-grade onboard charger that keeps your Can-Am Spyder battery ready at all times, the NOCO GENIUS2D is an outstanding choice. After installing two of them, I wouldn’t use anything else.

Compact and easy to install, does a great job
Smaller than I expected but much easier to install because of its size. The mounting strap has two holes to install the plastic snap-on back to the metal of the vehicle inside the engine compartment using two self-tapping screws (provided). There are two lugs on the snap-on back that accommodate a velcro strap (also provided) which ties down the charger in addition to the snap-on back that is latched to the charger. A well thought out system to ensure that the charger cannot shake loose when the vehicle is moving. In my case I have attached the charger to the wall above the front passenger tire well of my Silverado truck. That way, the charging leads can easily reach the battery although the power lead is too short to go anywhere near the front grill (Maybe 2-3 ft long). My GFI socket is on the side of my garage, about 45ft away from the engine compartment but it's easy to run a 50ft outside-rated cable (SJTW 12/3) to the charger power cable under the hood. With the temperatures around 31 to 42 degrees F right now and a new battery I am able to keep the battery fully charged in a truck that sometimes sits on an outside concrete pad for 2-3 weeks at a time. I am very pleased with this product. It gives me piece of mind that I will always be able to crank my engine whatever the weather. It will also help me to prolong the battery life. I now own two NOCO chargers, both are able to condition a battery as well as charge it. My other NOCO charger is a NOCO GENIUS 10A waterproof marine charger which can be used for several different battery types and does a great job for my lawn tractor and 12v shed battery for LED lights. It can handle lithium batteries also which works for my kayak. My neighbors call me when they need help with charging because they now understand the problems caused by sulphates which NOCO battery chargers can deal with. NOCO make great products. I have no hesitation recommending them. (NOTE: I gave this 5 stars but only four lit up. The first one stayed empty).

Works great, very nice to have during cold winter

Purchased because I don’t do a lot of driving and last winter I needed several jump starts, even when the weather wasn’t extremely cold. V annoying!! (Lexus tells me that the electronic anti-theft mechanism is a particular drain on battery power). I had bought the Noco GB70 for this and was already “brand friendly” because of the positive experience. The Noco Genius 2D did not disappoint. It was smaller and lighter than expected. Installation was a little tricky because there wasn’t much space within the maximum two feet radius from the battery terminals (the length of the O-ring terminal wires) and because I needed a suitable surface to screw on the small mounting bracket. Eventually I popped off the front plastic cover shielding the radiator and fan belt and found a spot just behind the upper front grille. This allowed me to install the charger AND run the power cord out through the front grille, secured with a plastic tie. I hooked it up to the external power cord and confirmed that the LED read-outs were doing their job (flashing red - charging; solid green - charged). No problem. I then replaced the front engine cover, hiding the Noco 2D from view. I trust Noco that it will keep working, out of sight. OK winter, do your worst. I’m ready for you. JH Toronto
