An early Christmas present of a PS4 Pro console for the family saw me looking to buy another external HDD. Have already bought the same Seagate 6TB external HDD earlier this year when my son's X-Box One became full, and had no hesitation in coming back to buy another one. I even got a better deal as while I paid around £110 for the last one, this time I found one in the Amazon Warehouse for £85 simply because the packaging was damaged. Now while HDDs can fail, the simple fact is any brand of disc will give up over time, and some will be faulty straight out of the box. Nothing in life is perfect or lasts forever, but Seagate has been one of my go-to brands for many years. I have rarely had issues with any discs, whether internal or external, and price versus quality and storage means they sit comfortably within my budget. While they are only a single disc unit, given they are being used to store games that I can reload if anything should go wrong, I deem the need to backup them up as unnecessary. Unlike the rest of my computers where everything is backed-up in triplicate. While I could go into all the technical aspects I'm gonna leave this review simple and state the HDD runs pretty fast when connected using the 3.0 USB, and noise wise is almost silent when operational. The only modification I have done to either HDD is add slightly deeper felt strips on the base. (A pack of which cost me £1 and I still have loads left.) This helps to absorb any vibrations, and raises the HDDs higher off my units to allow for a better airflow to aid cooling. Ideal for the Xbox especially at this size and price point. I bought this for the Xbox one X but first transferred all the data from my one S, over 2.5TB of it. While the read and write speeds are nothing spectacular this drive is a good work horse and ideal for gaming. It's 6TB and in this day and age where games can be 100GB in size there seems to be no point in buying a smaller drive, any games you own are always available anyway, you only download a game to play it. When you get to the point that you've got 500 games including game pass games then you need the space this drive provides. I ran this drive for 24 hours non stop and had no problems with noise or overheating and to set it up on Xbox was easy, plug in, format to Xbox and play.. Edit 30/05. I have noticed that the drive makes noises at random times that can be annoying, the noises are always the same so are a design thing and not a random problem. If you're using this for Xbox and have your Xbox set to install remotely then you may find this noise annoying as you have to leave the drive on all the time. I switch my drive off when it's not in use now..

I review products on my blog and needed something to expand into temporarily.... Ok let's keep the introduction simple....This is an excellent way of increasing your storage capabilities or setting up a key part of the 3-2-1 back up rule and if you're a data hoarder like me you will fear the data loss issues and so want something to solve your storage issues. So why not just upgrade your hard drive in your computer? To be honest it's not a bad suggestion but when it's going to cost anywhere from £79 for a relatively unknown Intaiell 1TB internal SSD to an eye watering £709 for a Samsung Evo 4TB internal SSD on Amazon - if you can upgrade it yourself then go for it but for the most part, those prices are plus installation. This drive works out at £16.99/TB.... As this is a desktop expansion drive, it is not built to be portable - if you want portability you should be looking as a USB powered SSD because these 3.5" HDD have moving parts and also a power cable. It also weighs 948g meaning it is weighty enough to be stable on desks and tables. Within 30 seconds I got a small notification to say the driver was installed and we were good to go; you don't have to but I always reformat it again just to make sure and a minute later I was ready. So I started dragging and dropping all the documents, images and movies across and the USB 3.0 managed just fine - I think I had around a terabyte of data and it managed just fine and took around 20 minutes to complete. That was it - quick as that. Once my NAS was set up and running I was then able to reformat it again, and am now using it to store my Xbox One games and saved game data on meaning its usability has continued and will hopefully continue to work for years to come.

I'm always wary of things that say you can plug it in and use it straight out of the box... nothing to do with computers is that easy, is it? You have to turn this on and agree to that and read all kind of stuff, right? I'm not a new computer user and can handle the day to day use of a computer, but still have to pick the brains of my husband about things most days but I was determined to do my best to get this set up totally alone if I could, after all they made it sound really easy in the description so this would be a big test for it as far as I was concerned. I nervously plugged the two leads into the right holes, plugged it into the plug socket next to my computer and into the USB thingy (and discovered an extra USB port and another thing that isn't a USB port but looks very much like it lol)... it whirred a bit which made me nervous in case I'd already done something wrong, but seconds later Windows Explorer popped up and there was a new drive! This one! I hadn't broken it after all... not yet, anyway lol I clicked on the drive thingy in Windows Explorer and my computer instantly recognised it. My confidence was starting to build up ever so slightly now. Created a folder on this drive, and started off the backups. Surely it wasn't as easy as that, was it? I must have done something disasterously wrong like I always do with computers! 45 minutes later and all my backups (about 35GB worth at the time) had completely finished with no stress or anxiety or worry or even asking my hubby for advice or reassurance. I've used it 3 times now and each time I've used it has been as easy and stress-free as that first time. It really is that easy. I'll definitely be buying it again when I next need to!

Works alright but not ideal for ps4 because of two relatively minor gripes. Everytime the ps4 crashes I will lose some data with the crash on the Seagate and I have to redownload some updates. If you have fiber internet or the holy grail of PS4's this probably wont matter to you much but if you have slow wifi or even a brand new console it's pretty annoying. Also this is my first time using an external hard drive for a console so I don't know if this is an issue with the PS4 or this drive or external harddrives in general. The second gripe is that it won't power down while the PS4 is in rest mode only if you turn the console off completely. The drive is somewhat audible when it's powered on. Otherwise, the writing speeds are pretty good and I've had no noticeable issues playing games off the drive so it does cover the main functions. Now this next extra bit will only matter if you are sensitive to high pitched noises so this will only matter to like me and two other people but the adapter it comes with makes this high pitched whining sound while it's plugged in that I can't stand. I won't hear it unless it's quiet in the room but some mornings I wake up to what I think are sirens in the distance and I realize this things been whaling in my ears all night. Might have to look into switching it out for a different one and see if that works. End of rant.

This is my first try with Seagate in a long time (mostly a HGST guy). Inside this case is Seagate's Archive hard drive which OEM bare drive. USB 3.0 interface was fast. Tested empty drives formatted in HFS and ExFAT, both were a constant 180-190 MB per second read/write. After the drive was 90% full, large files peaked at 100MBps read and write, and smaller files averaged around 64MBps write, 80 read. Decent. Been running 6 of these for a week now 24/7 and have had no problems. All files have transferred and verified. And I performed a complete sector scan verify on one of them with no issues reported using SoftRAID for OSX. Cases are plastic so they're not the best for heat dissipation, but the drive itself sits in a metal bracket inside the case which helps. The case has vent holes on the bottom for some reason instead of the top, and holes on the back, but nothing on the front. I've been keeping a small fan on them as I've been copying and verifying for 24/7 for a few days. Probably not best to run 24/7 unless there's some cooling on them, or they're in a very cold room. But I don't imagine most people will be running them at full tilt for days on end. I would buy these and take the drives out of their cases and put into a NAS. I'm curious how they'd perform long term.

Hi Ordered to back up my other hdds as had a ransomware attack and they hacked my SD card I lost my camera videos they were all locked and everything else on my PC. I did not know they can hack your hard drives now so these are really needed and everything be backed up twice and one not plugged into your PC if its on line as could be hacked I never downloaded anything bad to. Its very good to have but I find the drive can be noisier than my other ones it also moves around if its on a slippery surface to on its own. other than this its pretty fast backing up my movies even 1080p stuff. update After just a few months 05 000000000008 Reallocated Sectors Count BB 000000000033 Reported Uncorrectable Errors C5 000000000010 Current Pending Sector Count C6 000000000010 Uncorrectable Sector Count Its gone back to Amazon hope the new one is better at least I was able to get my files of it. Amazon has sent me a brand new replacement.

Forever out growing my drive space. Whilst best to buy the biggest can afford, and also minimise having all my eggs in one basket, this drive is serving its purpose very well at storing all my learning material. Size wise, well same as any ofther external hard drive with a separate power supply. Sits neatly hidden on the desk. Occassionally hear the drive spin up when the computer is polling or accessing the drive. All good so far. Speeds wise, connected directly to USB hub, I am getting speedy results and transfers are good too. Did have the drive connected to a EE router via its USB port but combination of network lag and also processing speed of the router meant it was just too slow for my massive file transfers. However, streaming wasn't bad. Now using the drive just connected directly to the computer and shared to the network that way as its used more for local work. The promotional price meant it was a beauty of a bargain and something I will keep an eye on and may just invest in another as I get through my drive space very quickly.

El disco llegó en buenas condiciones y en tiempo. En mi experiencia, estos discos son buenos, tengo varios y me han funcionado muy bien. Este en específico tiene el problema del ruido que hace, es algo llamativo, pero en cuanto a funcionamiento ha salido muy bueno.

Super bra pris och mycket snabb leverans

Ce disque dur va bien au-delà de mes espérances. Je ne comptais utiliser que son espace de stockage, passant par USB3, je ne m'attendais pas à un tel niveau de performances. Mes premières copies sur ce disque dur dépassant 150Mo/s et mettant au taquet mes autres disques durs internes (pourtant dans les gammes "performances" des autres constructeurs), j'ai décidé de passer un petit banc d'essais pour mesurer ses performances, et quelle surprise ! Bien évidemment, je ne peux pas comparer ce disque dur externe à mes SSD, et encore moins au SSD NVMe qui arrive à un taux de copie de plus de 3.6Go/s, mais je joins en pièce jointe (photo) les performances mesurées sur 3 de mes disques HDD (les deux autres sont internes, branchés via SATA) pour vous rendre compte des performances plutôt exceptionnelles pour un disque dur externe (HDD). Je signalerais tout de même un point plutôt négatif, à savoir la qualité du plastique utilisé en guise de coque, bien que très joli ne donne pas un sentiment de grande solidité. Ce HDD pèse son poid, ce n'est cependant pas vraiment un point négatif, celui-ci étant branché en permanence à mon PC et reste posé sur sa tranche (Avec des petits patins anti-dérappant, au poil). Je suis pleinement satisfait de cet achat, d'autant plus que je l'ai acheté pendant les French Days (Début Juin) à un prix écrasant toute concurrence. Je recommande ce produit, y compris au prix habituellement affiché, il les vaut bien.

Estou usando há um bom tempo e funciona muito bem. Comprarei novamente da mesma marca.
