Wide as finger standard adult finger nail If you buy set then there is a very small pair probably for infants not sure as they ate straight cut possibly for trimming any minor bits left on nails - these are very sharp nail clippers & need to be careful when using them

yes you can, excellent for both.

What is make these better than a normal clipper?

Many people like me have very thick toenails. Most clippers only open a few millimetres these open 15. They are very well made and seem to have a sharper cutting edge than any clipper I have tried (and there have been many) Additionally, the ability to open them wide allows for very precise positioning before cutting a nail. I have taken chunks out of my toe with the standard type. This kit is one of the most satisfactory purchases I have made on Amazon.
