How to Grow Your Own Tobacco: From Seed to Smoke [French, Ray] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. How to Grow Your Own Tobacco: From Seed to Smoke Review: Interesting and Informative! - First my disclaimer...I'm a non-smoker and always have been. My interest in growing tobacco began because the fragrance and beauty of some of the flowers combined with the natural pesticide features in the garden. Now, having said that, finding information on growing tobacco can be frustrating given the general hysteria surrounding tobacco related products. Heck, just finding the plants was all but impossible in my local area. Fortunately, it's easy enough to locate the seeds and after buying this book plus "The Culivators Handbook", I learned how easy it is to grow your own tobacco..for whatever purpose you might have in mind. The cultivators handbook is another terrific tobacco book but oriented more toward philosophical and historical accounts...I think this does a better job on the actual growing segment. Additionally, the other book makes use of traditional fertilizers and other chemicals while this places a strong emphasis on organic alternatives which I like and use in my own garden (hence the interest in pesticide potential of the plant). This is a quick read, very well written and well worth the price paid. Review: A Great Informative and Entertaining Read - This book is greatly written. Aesthetically it has an old book look and feel; which is kind of cool. It is an easy read too, but still full of good information and was obviously written by an author who loved the subject. Using the book, I have, as a first timer, actually successfully got my own tobacco plants thriving.

How To Grow Your Own Tobacco
I don't smoke but am always interested in growing things. I think it might be fun to try growing some tobacco - who knows... if the economy takes a dive I may need it to barter with ha ha ha. Book was informative and easy read and gave basic insights to the beginner.

Very useful book. Lays out all the basics and the extra details in an easy to read and easy to understand format. Requires almost no attention span and will help you find answers to all your basic tobacco questions related to growing it.

Very complex to do it right
Im glad I purchased this book. I had the bright idea to grow my own tobacco for cigars to save me some money. There is an awful lot of care that must be put into this sort of thing. Now I know why cigars are so expensive. I will be leaving it to the experts. Too much work for me.

Such a cool book!
I love this book! It explains everything so well and in an organized fashion. My favoriate feature is the hand drawn field notes. I have recommended this to co-workers and book enthusiasts alike!

Growing Tobacco
This book does not live up to it's name. The first 79 pages talk about different types of tobacco. Then you have a few pages on actually growing it. The author did say if someone can grow tomatoes, they can grow tobacco. I can grow tomatoes so I am going to hope for the best.

Nice size book in the hand, good value, has a hard cover. Lots of good information concerning tobacco and growing the plant with nice illustrations and photos. Overall I think it will help me in my first attempt to grow tobacco, the only thing I would like to have seen would be a chapter or two explaining in precise detail how to complete the most important and difficult part of making smokable tobacco - how to ferment the leaves at home, even including directions on how to construct a workable kiln or fermenter.

A good book, very helpful and full of information about tobacco use throughout the history of America and countries within the EU. I am enjoying reading it so far and it lists a good amount of tobacco types to try growing. I would recommend this for beginners but I wouldn’t recommend it being the only book you buy as it only covers the basics.

Informative as a first entry point, I agree with other reviewers in that if you’re going to start growing your own smoke this is an excellent place to begin
