By the way all the shrubs around the magnolia tree benefited from the fertilizer and recovered to become very healthy, deep green shrubs. I am very satisfied and haven't experience such amazing results before. The price is justifiable for the effect it has, even though I would like to pay less. But I guess if I want results I have to go with the quality products. It can stunt the growth or flat kill the plant. With your miami tree in a pot the amount would naturally be less, I would strongly suggest you talk to a local nursery ( not florist) about the amount you should use for the the size pot you have. My trees are in the yard so here is what the instructions said to do. You are to make a hole roughly 6" to 1' down at the drip line of the tree and add a 1/4 cup of fertilizer all the way around the tree, the holes should be about 2 to 3 feet apart. This will encourage the roots to spread out and down to make the tree more stable when full grown. **Q: I am planting a 3 ft tall shumard oak. how would i apply this? can i mix in the soil i am using for backfill?** A: sorry for the wait, if you have used it yet. For best results put some in the hole before you put in the tree. Then at about 3 to 6 feet away from the tree dig down about a foot and put some in the hole , do this in an box shape around the tree. this will help the tree to spread out the roots for better stability. After I applied it there seemed to be an improvement to my dogwood trees. This was a month after I applied it. I was so surprised I ordered another bag. These dogwood have been struggling for some years. I lost one and another is losing leaves. Shortly after applying, one tree looked terrific and the second seemed to improve. So the short term review is very good.
