I play it this way most of the time, sending the acoustic signal to one channel, and the electric signal through an effects pedalboard to another channel. The nickel strings that came on the guitar from the manufacturer worked ok, but not great. They sounded pretty good through the electric pickups, but pretty dead through the acoustic pickups. I used DR Zebra strings for a while, and they worked really well, but two things happened: 1. The Zebra strings sounded great for a week or two, and then sounded dead after that. They just lost their tone really quickly. 2. For some reason, my high E string kept breaking at the bridge, really often, and I hardly ever broke strings before I started using the Zerbas, especially not the high E string. Then I heard about these White Bronze strings from GHS. I ordered a set and tried them out, and LOVED them immediately. They sounded fantastic as both electric and acoustic strings, and they last a lot longer than the Zebras. I haven't broken a single one of these, either. They keep their tone and stay in tune really well for a really long time, too. I'm very happy using these strings in this way. Not a lot of people play both electric/acoustic simultaneously like I do, but they fit my specific needs really well. I have not tried them on any other guitars, so I can't speak to how well they work on a stand-alone electric or stand-alone acoustic guitar. But I would imagine that they would be great for either. Review: Incredibly loud and brilliant through both piezo and humbuckers - The GHS White Bronze strings are incredible. I have a Carvin AE-185 hybrid guitar, which has both an acoustic piezo and humbuckers (I also have a Kiesel version of the AE-185). I switch back & forth instantly when playing backup chords through a looper and then improvising over them. I'd been using DR Zebra strings for years, thinking there was no other "hybrid" string in existence, but then DR discontinued them. I put the GHS White Bronze "Extra Light" strings on my Carvin and was blown away totally; they may be the brightest strings I've ever put on a guitar. The treble that these strings produce is electrifying, which is fine with me, because it's easier to tone down a bright sound than to try to emphasize a dull one. But don't worry about the bass end; ALL the strings are almost magical. The strings have incredible power through both the piezo and through both humbuckers. I don't know how these things work - I just know they DO. They're now my favorites - I just ordered nine sets, and will probably be ordering lots more soon. THANK YOU GHS! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great acoustic electric hybrid string, makes a piezo sing.A humbucker hum. *by H***S on February 6, 2019* I've been using these for about 5 years on different guitars, somre pure acoustic (piezo) guitars, and some hybrid Piezo/humbucker semi hollow bodies, I like them alot. Regular bronze strings don't have enough magnetic response to generate a proper signal with a humbucker, but these work perfectly with any mag pickup. If you want to use a soundhole magnetic pickup on your acoustic guitar, these are the strings you need. They have a great sound. I like a bright sound from an acoustic guitar and these are surely bright. I've used these on a yamaha aex500 hybrid and find they work quite well with both the piezo and humbucker, allowing a great range of sounds. I've also used these on a range of ovation acoustics and yamaha acoustics and even es-335 with p90's with good results. They wear well and sound good, if you find them too bright, play them for awhile the brightness will mellow out, but you may find yourself missing it once you get used to hearing all the sounds your guitar can produce. Overall a very well made product that made my playing sound better and gave me some extra motivation to play longer and explore different arrangements and chord inversions with these new tones at hand.
