I would say that Retinol has long term anti-ageing results i.e. prevents fine lines and wrinkles if used consistently rather than brightening. I have used many of the non-prescription retinols and this is one I come back to - I have just got the new Boots one but find the CeraVe much better for my skin. I think for brightening Vitamin C is perhaps the answer but it has no long term affects on the skin. Something will hyaluronic acid brightens and plumps up my skin - I'm a big fan of Neutroegena Hydro Boost Water Gel Moisturiser for dry skin and use this with the Retinol. Hope that helps. A lot is about trial and error to find what produces the best results for your skin. I have got there but it has taken a long time.

Can I use this on the eyes?

I use it around my eyes no issues as quite mild compared to other retinols on the market. I only use it 2-3 times a week.

Is this product suitable for oily skin? As a general rule of thumb I only use oil free products.

Cerave is, according to the blurb, for normal to dry skin. Perhaps the ultra lightweight Cerave moisturiser would suit you better? Avene do a very good range of products for all skin types as do the Inkey. All I can say to help is - do some research.

What percentage of retinol is this product?

It doesn’t say it on the package and retinol isn’t very high up on the ingredients list.
