Craftsman CMXZDCG440 Garage Door Wireless Keypad, Gray

While more expensive than the generic versions, I've found that the name brand is the only on that allows one-touch closing with the enter button. Generic brands are unreliable in this feature. Works great out of the box with easy pairing and perfect button finction

Easy install. Even for a 30 year old Craftsman garage door opener.

Very good product easy to program.

It worked for a garage opener installed in the early 90's so 5 stars has to be the thing. Touch and go there for a while, but I found if your doing the step process it's better to do them successively rather than wait too long between prompts. One correction to the directions is the square button is on the side where the light bulb is not on the back as stated in the directions. Beats walking around the whole yard to get to the garage rear door and inside forhard wire mount switch.

Product worked out of the box according to simple to follow instructions. Product has some nice features like it can handle multiple doors since it can store 20+ codes. It can also store quite a few temporary codes that are active with a timer or number of uses - your choice. As compared to my original Craftsman from 20 years ago, the construction of the remote is less weather resistant. The closing lid doesn't cover the remote fully on the bottom. Thus water could seep into battery compartment. Also the top part of closing cover doesn't cover the top well from rain. There is a good gap that can allow water to get in and get to keypad. I am a design engineer and the cover is not well engineered. The cover attachment mechanism is very cheap and I expect it to break. In fact, just after putting battery inside, the cover fell off and I had to snap it back into place. The cover engagement pieces are small and not strong. Due to this, don't let sun or rain get to this unit. I might engineer a cover to put over this remote which defeats the point of having a cover. It would not have cost much to design and implement a better cover. Another negative is the battery cover. You have press pretty hard to disengage the plastic catch. I can see this breaking if not careful. My old remote was designed nicely. The battery cover slide over and a small screw held it in place. No need to press hard on plastic to remove. Again a subpar design and implementation to save a few cents. Quality of cover and case was not a priority it seems. Hopefully the unit works reliably and for years to come. My old unit gave up after 26 years. That was quality.

I am not handy. It took me less than 5 minutes from opening to having it installed and fully working. Yes you can get a universal keypad.I have had the Craftsman and the universal. To me the Craftsman is better made and lasts longer. You get what you pay for.

A genuine Craftsman product, so you know it's good quality. If the included instructions don't work for you, try Googling the FCC ID to find the frequency range of your garage door opener. Then use the appropriate steps inside the flip up lid on the keypad. My learn button is yellow but steps for a completely different color did the trick.

Excellent install, easy to use

The product works great for the price but if you are having trouble setting up be sure to click the learn button on the garage opener unit before setting up the keypad!!

The remote was easy to mount and works as expected. The programming was not the easiest and took multiple attempts trying different methods. People's feedback on how to program it in other reviews was very helpful. Thanks! Otherwise works great.
