Accurate Enough for Everyday Use, Surprisingly Handy for the Price
Accurate Enough for Everyday Use, Surprisingly Handy for the Price I picked this up mainly as a quick, grab-and-go temperature checker for random tasks around the house and garage, and itโs turned out to be one of those tools you end up using more than expected. For under ten bucks, itโs honestly a solid little device. What I like most is how easy it is to use. Pop in the batteries, point, pull the trigger, and you get an instant reading. The backlit display is clear and easy to read, even in lower light. Iโve used it for checking pan temps while cooking, verifying oven heat, spotting hot spots on my grill, and even checking AC vent output. Itโs also useful for quick diagnosticsโlike identifying heat leaks or uneven temperatures in different areas. The non-contact aspect is a big plus. You donโt have to touch anything hot, which makes it safer and more convenient, especially for things like cast iron, pizza stones, or engine components. The 12:1 distance-to-spot ratio is decent for this price range and works well as long as youโre mindful of distance. A few things to keep in mind. Accuracy is generally good for everyday use, but itโs not lab-grade. I noticed small variations depending on surface type and distance, which is expected with infrared thermometers. Also, the laser aiming isnโt perfectly alignedโit gives you a general idea, but not pinpoint precision. Youโll get better results aiming steadily and keeping a consistent distance. Another important note: this measures surface temperature only, not internal temperature. So itโs not a replacement for a probe thermometer when cooking meats. Overall, for the price, itโs hard to complain. Itโs lightweight, simple, and versatileโexactly what you want in a tool like this. Bottom line: A very affordable, easy-to-use infrared thermometer thatโs great for quick surface temp checksโjust donโt expect precision-level accuracy.

Good Value but sighting off a bit and temp measurement seems inconsistent but w/in tolerance
Regardless of a few minor shortcomings, this is a handy tool. I bought it to check the temps of various materials given our back deck needs replacing. Who'd have thought our current Trex deck hits 140 degrees on a warm day, while some types of wood hit 170? Dark bricks run about 10 degrees warmer than light bricks. This also help me realize how much, much warmer some outdoor wear can be vs others. And I just verified our grill temp gage and that we have a nice 22-degree temperature drop for our home's A/C system. A man and his tools... On directional accuracy, I think this is off by a few inches at a 3-feet range. I checked this by putting a hot mug of coffee on the floor and "lasering" it from about waist high. By moving the laser to different spots on the coffee's surface as well as the floor I could tell the laser is pointed about 2-3 inches too far to the right and a bit high (at approx three feet). There's a label on the gun indicating a widening sensor area as things get farther away (e.g, 8cm diameter at 96cm range). I thought that implied the gun took an average across that diameter, but IMO it's reading some smaller point within that diameter I'll note that simply ignoring the laser and looking straight down the line on top of the device seems fairly more accurate. But the laser clearly shoots to the right of that. On temperature, I've had times I thought this read low by 2-3 degrees; however, this is still within the +/- 1.5 C range noted in the tolerances. I'm a bit obsessive about temperate around the house and have a few digital thermometers that read very close to each other (w/i a small fraction of a degree). I placed two of these on a shelf for a while and then checked the temp with this laser thermometer. They both read near 72.0F, while the laser read around 69.5F. But that's still w/in spec in centigrade. Later, I did the same measurement and got a more accurate reading. That said, it works pretty well for my needs.

Good quality, Accurate.
Update 4/29/2026 I have been using it to measure the temperature in my refrigerator and freezer and it works great. I have been using it on a regular basis to check the heat temperature coming out of all my vents, I love it. I was not sure what to expect from a temperature reading unit that is low priced. I am pleasantly happy with how easy it works and more so how accurate it is in comparing it to the various thermostats in my home. It is almost spot on with everyone of them and it will help to find drafts coming in during the cold winters here in Frazier Park. I highly recommend buying it as you will be happy too.

Seems okay at best for checking temps around the house
Purchased "Used - Mint" and the batteries were missing... The dollar I saved was spent on batteries... you get what you pay for I suppose. Seems to work as it should, not sure of the accuracy just yet.

Will test it tomorrow at work
