## Description

Don't remove rust, convert rust. Corroseal rust converter is an elite, industrial strength product for all your marine, household, automotive, and industrial rust problems. Extend the life of your metal equipment by protecting it from rust and corrosion. Rust occurs naturally when the iron in steel oxidizes and returns to its original state, iron oxide. Through an innovative chemical conversion process, Corroseal Rust Converter converts rust into a stable substance, magnetite. It also primes the surface with a high quality latex metal primer at the same time. Corroseal truly provides one step corrosion control. Corroseal is the best way to deal with rust because it is less expensive, less time consuming, and is much more than sandblasting. Corroseal eliminates the need to sandblast rust by chemically converting rust from iron oxide to magnetite, a black and inert substance. Corroseal rust converter is your best rust treatment and corrosion control option because it meets all your metal surface preparation needs by converting the rust and priming the metal surface at the same time.

Review: Good Product - This stuff is saving my metal house for real! It works great. It's also good to have the extra in case you're trying to prevent rusting for other things. It's easy to apply. Highly recommend. Worth the money.
Review: Anyone can apply this, Remove flaking rust, clean, dry and apply. Don't forget your undercarriage. - So Far, Very Impressed !! Pick up a screwdriver or paint scraper, wire brush, foam brush, small empty container and neoprene gloves as it's sticky if you get it on you. Pour a little out into a small container (a little goes a long way) and apply to the rusted area. DO NOT POUR UNUSED MATERIAL BACK INTO THE NEW CONTAINER, It will contaminate the jug. I used a product in the late 80's or early 90's on my tailgate on a Ford Ranger that started to rust. It had a different name but it also went on like milk, then turned Black. I've purchased other converters since then that seemed "watered down" and didn't work nearly as effective. I assumed it had something to do with environmental or health concerns as to why I couldn't find it. It was of a different name but this is the same stuff. Worked wonders then, after two coats. It's not passed the test of time yet however, I have used it on my trailer and spots under my truck. This is environmentally friendly, non-toxic, non-corrosive, applies easily. I have nothing bad to say about it so far. Make sure you get all the loose rust off but NOT down to bare metal. It needs a little rust to stick. I had some drip onto the paint on my trailer, no big deal but it did "alter" the color of the paint. On bare metal, it seems to leave a film coating that comes off with my finger nail but over rust, you would have to sand it off. Very glad I found this rust converter again, It works GREAT. I see so many vehicles with rust destroying their cars in Pennsylvania snow/salt state. I can't believe drivers are unaware of this solution, after all, a smaller black patch may not look the best but a larger patch of rust looks much worse and that's where your small rust spot is headed. This may not be a "Professional" repair but it's also not at a "Professional repair cost". Sure, $53 is a lot of money but this stuff works and very easy to apply and over-all, its much less expensive to apply this than to ignore your rust spot. So easy anyone can do this and a gallon goes a long way. Even if you only did nothing to the rust and just applied it over the rust you would be much farther ahead. But if you do that, you'd have to wait until more of the rust flaked off (because it will if you don't first remove the flaking) but apply a little more over where it flaked off and your good to go. Also, if there are "paint bubbles" where rust is developing under the paint, remove the bubble, you will see rust under there. Apply Corroseal. I would highly recommend you get in there with a screwdriver without much pressure and remove the loose stuff and maybe go over it with a wire brush, clean the dust off, dry the area and apply, that's it and your resale value will show the difference as a small patch of this is better than a large patch of rust...You can also paint over this if you want, but you will still the area because it will not have the smooth texture of new paint, it will just hide it a little. Don't forget your undercarriage. If you live in a snow belt state and you have no rust yet, Wash the underside once a week but eventually a stone will break the paint seal and rust will start.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have a large storage building roof to coat. Can I use a garden sprayer?**
A: As a Ablebody Seaman (Unlimited, Any Waters) and US NAVY VET. I've probably busted more rust than 99.9% of anyone hear.
While working on the TW Nelson (Mobile oil's Survey Vessel) we helped develop this stuff. Also aboard Supertankers for several oil
Company's we got to try several different Brands of rust converter/reformer.. We brushed it. rolled it. sprayed it ( w/ air gun pick-up) and they all worked better than all previous methods.. and there were a bunch!!! In my opinion Corroseal was the Best of all!! I still buy it in quart & gallon sizes (when required as it goes a long way) DO NOT LET ANY OF THESE FREEZE!!! WATER BASED & WILL TURN INTO A ROCK. Talk about wasted $$$?
Don't waste time & money on Rattle Cans as caps k-rap-out way before product does! U want to spray a large area? use air-sprayer w/ large orifice, more thin coats better than 1 thick. let dry. Just Bust off any Scale & Leave the rust. wash down, let dry then get after it!
Just give up on acid & paste & all that k-rap. (I took more accidental showers in Ospho than I care to remember, before the new stuff)
Wan-kers Away.
Old Salty

**Q: how long before rust comes back if not painted right away?**
A: You don't necessarily need to paint over it. The rust doesn't comeback if you use Corroseal as directed. It seals the metal.

**Q: how long before rust comes back if not painted right away?**
A: Well, I bought it to touch up my deck chairs. The weather got cold and I have not had a chance to repaint them. I will do so in the spring. So that application is uncertain at present. However, since I had so much... My dishwasher racks had exposed metal where the rubber coating had broken down. I applied this stuff to those exposed areas, probably 2-3 months ago. I have not repainted or otherwise coated those areas. In the meantime, I have used the dishwasher multiple times (with that strong detergent!), and none of the areas I applied this stuff to has 1) lost its black color which was the result of the application, nor 2) begun to rust again. So, the coating seems very durable, even in the face of the adverse conditions in the dishwasher (water, heat, chemicals). YMMV

**Q: If i brush down to bare metal with no rust remaining, would i be better off with a different primer? (other than cost that is. i already bought it.)**
A: Corroseal needs the rust to bond to. If you're at bare metal an epoxy primer would be best. Make sure you use a solvent to clean the surface to remove any dirt or oils that may have come from your hands. I've had great success with Corroseal on light to heavy rust.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing
*by O***R on March 11, 2026*

Used it on restoring frame on my 2001 Tacoma. Easy to apply and results were impressive. I kept frame exposed to elements. Snow rain sun. It lasted well over a year absolutely no surface rust. I re applied . I assume if it was not exposed to elements it will last very long. Looks normal as opposed to tar sprays
