No, can't be used in the oven. OK in the microwave, and in a saucepan on the hob, simmering, both of which work very well. Lightly grease them, put a small circle of baking parchment in the bottom, pop the lids on, puddings will just slide out. Good luck!

When making christmas puddings, do you steam with the lid on or off

I put the mixture in and microwaved without the lid for a few minutes. If you are steaming on the hob then yes put the lids on to seal, but leave a gap so the mixture doesn't come up to the rim- otherwise there's no room for the pudding to expand as it steams and you might get some leakage.

What to know before you buy

Great little individual pudding basins but l found the lids loose so do not seal, you have to add greaseproof/tin foil before putting the lids on to make them tight
