One Piece - Collection Six

In this sixth collection of One Piece. Now that the straw hat crew has saved Vivi and the kingdom of alabasta from the infamous Crocodile. They dock at a town called Mock town where all pirates have forgotten how to dream. They come across the rainbow mist, a deadly mist that has took ship and crew to there grave. Then Nico catches wind of a guy that can equip any ship to ascent the knock-up stream to Skypiea. The crew must go into the jungle and find a south bird before entering the knock-up stream. As the crew looks for the south bird, pirates from Mock town accented on the crew fixing up luffy ship for the ride of ahead of them. Luffy goes back to the town to fight and take back the gold stolen from the saruyama alliance, can he make it back in time? The black breaded pirates are out to make a name for themselves and planed to take out luffy and the crew before interring the knock-up stream. There are no words to describe this show except for Epic. At first I thought this show was going to be a silly kid's show with not the best animation style. After thinking this for many years, and mocking it for the always remembered 4kids version, I decided to take on the beast of an anime with 500+ episodes. Best decision I have ever made. It starts of really rocky at first, but once you reach Arlong park, the necessity to keep going urges you on. After entering the grand line the story just gets better and better. As the straw hat pirate's ship grows in experience and crew mates, my interest continues to grow. Once I reached Water 7 there was no going back. The story line that the author/mangaka, Eiichiro Oda, created is the most incredible tale I have ever heard. Not only does the world make you forget all about your own, but the story and characters make you want to leave reality and join the Mugiwara (strawhat) crew. No show or anime has ever made me feel this or at least to this extent. I have now rewatched the whole show two times all the way through and have dragged a lot of my friends into this addictive tale. They would have it no other way. Oda is a master at story telling to the point where I was crying with every character and even over the loss of a certain "nakama" I never thought I would cry over. The only other word is Brilliance. Sheer Brilliance. This show is my favorite anime of all time. I would say it is also in my favorite top 3 stories of all time, if not top 2. :) Thank you for your brilliance, Oda, and for caring about us over here, Funimation. :)

Collections four and five, which I liked quite a bit, had the all-encompassing arc of the Alabasta fight. As I mentioned in my review for Collection Five, episodes 110 to 126 span the course of a half an hour. I liked it, but it was kind of exhausting. Also, with one key bad guy that must be stopped, at least one event is predictable. Collection Six is back to smaller arcs. The first episode has Tony Chopper accidently breaking a water barrel, and he has to go refill it. In the meantime, he relates some of his origin. A series of these short, well-written character stories follows. There is plenty of blatant foreshadowing, that I managed to miss completely, until it was explained. Throughout the collection, the stories and characters are good, and there's never a false note. The episodes covered are the following. At some point, it becomes obvious that they'll eventually reach a place called Skypiea, but that's about the only obvious outcome. Bookend episodes are: 131. The first patient! The untold story of the rumble ball! 156. Already criminals?! Skypiea's upholder of the law! Well-planned, well-written. These are a bit different than most US TV shows, which start with a few episodes, then maybe get funding for a few more episodes, and then get permission to write and finish a season if the ratings are okay. Highly recommended.

The Straw Hat Pirates have made themselves known in Alabasta. By saving the Kingdom from Crockodile. They now have a new crewmember named Robin. They are now trying to find a way to the fabled sky islands. They know for certain that a tresure is there, but is it the One Piece? They outfit their ship to be able to ride the stream up to the sky. It won't be that easy though. There are enemies that will cause trouble and possibly prevent their departure. This anime is incredible. It's got action, comedy, adventure, and suspense. The voice actors are all familiar to just about any casual or serious anime fan. This anime also has a lot of Dragonball-like fun in it. It's tons of fun to watch and keeps you wanting to know what happens next. Now that Funimation has started releasing One Piece in these box sets, it's more affordable than ever. Any fan of anime, or any fan of fun in general will find this series a breath of fresh air. It's a must see.

I've enjoyed Collection Six just as much as the others in this engrossing series. The only drawback to this series (not specifically Coll. 6) is that the stories are presented in very short segments which means that the intro theme song is played about every 15 minutes, which gets a bit tiresome. Thank God for the fast forward button. All in all though, this is fun series and I'm glad that these multistory collections are available.
