Absolutely unbelievable improvement
If I hadn't seen this with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it. My house has cranberry-colored shutters without louvers, and they were 11 years old and badly streaked with oxidation. Cleaning the shutters took some time until I developed a system. I'm not sure how effective the cleaner is. It didn't seem to do much until I used the 5 to 1 dilution recommended for stained shutters and combined it with a steel scouring pad from the local dollar store. The recommended soft brush and solution wasn't making much progress. The instructions say to clean the shutters until scraping them with your fingernail produces no result. It took me two or three washes per shutter to achieve that. At this point, the shutters looked only a little less dreadful than they did when I began cleaning. Once they dry completely, you "paint" them with Shutter Renu. This part is simple and took less than 15 minutes per shutter. Each shutter uses less than a quarter cup of Shutter Renu. The trick is to use a larger brush and load it with a tiny bit of the solution to minimize foaming and frothing in the corners. A little goes a loooooong way. At first, the shutters looked almost purple. They dried to touch in 30 minutes, and VOILA! They looked like they'd just come out of the box, even restored to the original color. I expected to see more fading, especially since reds tend to fade so much, so I was shocked at the restoration. Our neighbor wandered over to take a look and was equally impressed. I can't speak to the longevity of this system yet, but it supposedly lasts up to ten years. If I get even five years out of this treatment, it's worth it. For less than the cost of a pair of new shutters, not to mention the annoyance of replacing them and the waste of ditching shutters every ten years, I have beautiful shutters again that give my house a real facelift. My jaw literally dropped when I stepped back to take a look after application. This product completely solved the problem at my house! Update: Eight months later, and the shutters still look as beautiful as the day I Renued them. They were so pretty for the holidays! Update March 2026: TWELVE YEARS later, and it's time to refurbish the shutters again this year. They don't look bad, just showing a little wear. I will be using Shutter Renu again for certain. It's a day of hard work for twelve years of beautiful.

Shutters look better than new ones! House looks fantastic! Worth every penny!-Updated review after a year!
I am updating my review from a year ago (listed below). A year has come and gone and my shutters still look fantastic! I wish everything I buy would exceed expectations the way this stuff does. I am so impressed with it that I decided to update my review after a year of living with the results. You will not be disappointed. (Previous review) I am beyond amazed! I bought this a year before I got around to using it. I was half expecting it to no longer work due to chemical breakdown. My shutters were 14 years old and had never been painted or treated. I had had the house pressure washed a year ago and whatever cleaner they used, dulled the finish of the shutters. While mine still looked better than most in the neighborhood because they don't get direct sun, they were faded. I was content to leave them alone until someone bought the house across the street and painted their shutters the same color as mine. That really made mine look poor in comparison. The type of shutters the builder used on all the homes in the neighborhood are no longer available, so that left me with two options: paint or try to find new shutters of approximately the same size and pay to have them professionally installed. I saw all the reviews for this product and figured I had nothing to lose but $80. I cleaned them with the cleaning solution in the morning and then in the afternoon started to apply the Renu Restorer. I was careful to avoid bubbles based on other reviewers' advice. I only had 4 shutters so by the time I finished the fourth shutter, it was time to apply a second coat on the first shutter. (Renu recommends waiting 30 minutes between coats). Since I only had 4 shutters I went ahead and applied 3 coats. With each coat the appearance improved. Well, not only do they look better than the freshly painted shutters across the street, they look better than they did when they were new. I half expected them to lose their luster after a few days or the recent hard rains, but NO they still look fantastic. I have actually gone out several times and stood in my front yard to admire them. I can't believe how much the appearance of my house was improved. I know it is warrantied for ten years but if the effect lasts half that long I will consider myself to have gotten my money's worth. In fact I will probably apply this every 3 years just to keep them looking so fantastic. One unexpected bonus. I had leftover cleaner. Fourteen years ago I foolishly used duct tape to attach Christmas lights to the white columns on my porch. The residue is still there despite multiple efforts to clean it off with a wide variety of cleaners. Even pressure washing didn't remove it. I figured I would have to hire someone to paint over the stains and the tape residue. Just for fun I tried the leftover cleaner and WOW! The residue and old stains came right off and the columns look as good as they did when the house was built. I also touched up stained areas on the vinyl siding that the pressure washing did not remove and it made the siding look brand new. I have already started recommending it to my neighbors. This is great stuff!

Great product as long as you follow directions!
This is a wonderful product & very easy to use as long as directions are precisely followed. My first order did not include a separate instruction sheet. I relied on the back of the label. Front & sides of the house had little oxidation on shutters, they worked perfectly. I continued the same cleaning process on the back. After applying ShutterRenu, they looked dull & blotchy. I applied second coat & noticed only slight improvement. I called customer service, which was great & extremely helpful. They informed me that all of the oxidation was not removed in the cleaning process. I had to remove the product, thoroughly clean and reapply. This is easier said than done. A complimentary bottle was sent to me. (Prior to calling, I had ordered a second bottle to complete the project. This came with instructions & steel wool as did the one sent from the company). After following all steps, I reapplied & achieved success. Unfortunately, I had extra product & did another coat on a few of the other windows. Within a couple of hours of completing, we had a freak rain shower that was not predicted. (Important fact: The shutters need to stay completely dry for 24 hours following application.) The finish peeled and flaked. They are currently being re-done.. again. Wonderful product as long as you remove ALL oxidation & Keep shutters dry following the application.

Shutter RENU is a great product.
100% pleased with your product. I was debating on purchasing new shutters because they were so faded. So glad I went with purchasing your product. Iโm retired 66 years old and did it myself. Instructions were easy to follow and cleaning and application was very doable at my age. They look great and saved me money. Thank you Vicki Gillim

Don't Waste Your Money!!!
The jokes on me and it was expensive! The packaging was terrible and one bottle had leaked all over the box it came in and there was only half the bottle left. I called the company and they replaced that and kept reminding me to strictly follow the instructions. So I used this stuff as per the directions and it didn't work. So I used it full strength and it worked even worse!! My shutters are as ugly as they were before and definitely still as faded. Finally I used some Windex, lots of water and elbow grease to clean the shutters and brightened them up with car polish. They look great!! Wish I'd tried that before I wasted my money on this stuff.

It works pretty good!
So I read the reviews- good and bad. I have 10 shutters that changed from hunter green to white washed after the house was power-washed. I learned the power washing took off the dirt made the oxidation more visible. On a scale of 1 to ten, my original shutter was a 6.5-7 out of ten. I did what was said in the directions. After the third wash, I still had some oxidation. I went and bought more steel wool and ended up cleaning one shutter nine times and there was still oxidation. Fed up, I decided to see what would happen. I did a light coat with a foam brush on that shutter and the one I washed three times. Waited 45 minutes and did a second coat. They look identical. I washed all the other shutters three times and did three coats of the final product. The next day they looked fabulous- easily a 9 to 9.5 out of 10. They look 100% better. I waited month to write this and they still look great. Now my shutters are ten years old in NJ, in a partially shaded area, that gets four seasons a year. My neighbors shutters were 20 years old and severely faded. He saw what it did to mine and did not have the same results. He shutters were beyond the means of this product. But he was reasonable and knew it before we used my leftover stuff on his. It is exactly what I think the negative reviews are about- the shutters are overly faded, have served their life, and after 15+ years, people want a miracle from a product to save hundred and maybe thousands of dollars. If you shutters have faded beyond half their original color, you are rolling the dice and expecting a lot. If it does not work - be reasonable don't blame the products. Make sure you bu some foam brushes and extra steel wool. Ten shutters took about 8 hours to wash them 3x and put 3 coats on them. Very happy...saved about $1,000.

Strongly recommend...with a tip.
I bought new pins for my shutters to reattach after I were to take them done to clean, and I thought they sent me the wrong color because they were too dark of a blue. It turned out that my shutters were that faded. After 2 coats of this product, my shutters were the color of those new pins. They look brand new. This product definitely works and worth every penny. A little bit of work that involves cleaning and 2 coats. It dries fast so once I finished the 1st coat of the 10th shutter, I went right into the 2nd coat. The cleaner was okay, I wasn't as impressed with it. Didnt matter how many times and how hard I cleaned them, I still had a little oxidation. I used a brush and a scratchless cleaning pad, and a power sprayer to rinse. Power sprayer supplied the same pressure as a car wash. After they dried, I went over the dry shutters with a dry scratchless cleaning pad and this took care of the leftover oxidation. I would recommend doing this...as it worked for me. Make sure it is a scratchless pad. So...I wasn't blown away with the cleaner, but was completely blown away with the Renu. Definitely recommend!!

Wash works great, recoloring part, not so great.
Okay here's my experience with this product: The wash part is great for getting the white discoloring off your shutters, but the 2nd step is not too effective. They use very safe, environmental chemical in it, and it just doesn't do a good job! If you want to get the best results buy the wash, but then use another vinyl recoloring product (I won't mention the one I used here, but it also sold on Amazon) to do the 2nd part. I accidentally discovered this while doing the shutters on the front of my house. I tried the other product first, but it doesn't have a wash and just regular soap and water doesn't clean that while discoloring off effectively. So I tried this product this product, but the 2nd stage doesn't work well. Finally I tried a combination of both and got great results! The only problem is that the shutters on the upstairs of the house look new (even after 9 months, while those on the bottom looked dirty and streaked. Well, live and learn...
