My daughter uses this to scare people as a Haunt slider. She glues them to her gloves and they spark great when she slides down the walkways scaring people. We don't start fires with them, but for what she does they are a great product!!

Can be drilled out for attaching to a tether. Just be sure to drill submerged in water to reduce cutting heat that will cause sparks in the process. Huge sparks when briskly stroked with a knife or used piece of hacksaw blade

Thick enough to comfortably hold. Don't go any thinner. These are the perfect size. You can drill a hole through one end and attach a lanyard and the striker. I used paracord and it came out great. Make sure to drill slow though, definitely have somethng under it that isn't flammable and you don't mind charring. The ferro shavings will ignite and leave burn marks on wood, sheet metal, etc... I drilled mine in a vise with old plywood underneath.

Makes starting a survival fire so easy. I drilled holes in them and attached some Paracord lanyards. I put them everywhere. One in every vehicle, hunting pack, camping gear, and where ever else I could think of that I might need to have one. They even made great gifts. I will be buying more just to make some more gifts. I have also used the crap out of a few of them practicing and teaching my nephews. They will hold up to A LOT of strikes.

Stuck a bunch of these everywhere. They fit in an Altoids box so they are great to make little fire starter kits. One of these rods and a cheap striker, a little fatwood , jute and you have a dependable fire starter.
