DOES THE JOB BUT... **REVIEW UPDATE 11-11-13
Ok, this does the job... I can plug it into my TV & it will extend my headphones or ear buds enough so I can sit on the couch & watch TV at night & not disturb my sleeping Granddaughter (when she spends the night). So in that respect it does its job BUT there is quite a bit of static... especially at low volume levels or w/ the ear buds. If I have the volume turned up to the normal to slightly above normal level that I usually have the volume, it's not too noticable but if listening at lower volumes it's very apparent. I think this cable would be fine for infrequent use & for reasons such as mine, to keep from waking a child or disturbing apt. neighbors if listening to high volume programs late a night. But, I would not recommend this if you're planning on using it frequently or for listening to music. **REVIEW UPDATE: I had originally given a 3 star review for the reason mentioned above. Well, let me tell u how gr8 this company is on customer service!!! I didn't even contact the company about this item, they read the review & contacted me! When I got the 1st email, I actually thought it was some kind of scam so never responded. Then when I got the 2nd email, I did respond. They said they would be more than happy to send me another cord, free of charge b/c they wanted me to be happy w/ the product. I agreed (still somewhat skeptical) but as the women (Alice) from Amamax stated, my new cord arrived promptly & free of charge!! And, I'm thrilled to report that the new cord is functioning perfectly. No static or feedback at all, just good crystal clear sound! Obviously, the previous cord was faulty. So refreshing to have a company actually contact ME b/c I had a problem, instead of the other way around. I never heard of such a thing. Wish I was able to give them 10 stars instead of 5!!! Buy this cord, I think you'll be more than happy!!! Thanks Amamax!!!! :-)

Finally!! Something that works!!
UPDATE Just wanted to take a moment to add to my original review. This cable is still going strong despite routine plugging & unplugging & one case of Mr. Coordinated here getting his feet tangled up & yanking the connection apart. This is the way things SHOULD be manufactured! ***************************************** I feel like I've been through all seven of Dante's infamous layers since starting my quest to find a 3.5 mm extension cable for my headphones. Maybe it's ridiculous to get this upset over a patch cable, but... I grew up in the 70s and 80s listening to loud music. I played 7 different instruments in a very competitive HS band, had my own band with some friends playing bars before we were even old enough to BE in a bar and was on the ground floor of early competitive automotive sound systems. When I built my first PC some 15 years ago, I bought (and still have) a set of Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 speakers. Now my wife and I live with her paraplegic mother who, bless her heart, thinks Lawrence Welk is "New Wave." I'm seldom able to crank my audio so I have to jam through my Scosche reference headphones (I highly recommend those, too, BTW. No, they're by no means the absolute best but for <$100 they're definitely impressive, or they are to someone with near-perfect pitch). Believe it or not, I have purchased and returned no fewer than 6 different cables online and locally in a seemingly futile effort to get just one that can bear being connected, disconnected and re-connected without losing a channel for whatever reason they all seem to lose one. I have spent as little as 99¢ and as much as $12.99 only to have to return each one because they worked flawlessly until I had to, for whatever reason, disconnect them. Enter iMBAprice. Never heard of'em. The cable had 1 review. It was a glowing review, but just the one. It also was twice as long as what I was really wanting (kinda like this review!!). But, the price was better than all the 3' cables I was looking at so I said, WTH, and decided to give it a shot. Am astonished to say I have been astonished by this cable! It has, thus far, performed flawlessly. I have had to disconnect the cable several times and I always hold my breath when I reconnect but there has been no problem each time. This cable even managed to remove an irritating feedback hum but that could have been a similar flaw in each of the other cables that crapped out on me. I highly recommend this iMBAprice product. Excellent performance and a pretty darn good value.

Can't be this cheap and be high quality...
Can't be this cheap and be high quality... I was wrong! Talk about perceived value! Just cause it's cheap doesn't mean its not high quality! As a YouTuber on a budget, I am always looking for cost-effective ways to make my life easier as a content producer. Having a high-quality headphone splitter in my studio has proven itself more than useful for many different applications. Reason for purchasing: I create content for YouTube, which means I am recording my voice for many different things. My problem was, I have *noise cancelling* headphones, and if any of you have tried talking without being able to hear your own voice, it becomes discombobulating after a few minutes. So you may ask, "why not take your headphones off while recording?" well, I have to monitor the end-result of the audio through my studio headphones to make sure the quality is exceptional for my subscribers. So what I first did was to enable "listen to my device" under recording options, but I found that there was a delay in the feedback, that was too distracting and I couldn't bear it. So to make my life easier I bought this headphone splitter. What this allows me to do is have my Microphone and Computer feedback coming directly to my Studio Monitor Headphones without any delay, and with perfect clarity! It also saved me the hassle of constantly unplugging cables because I could only have one connection at a time. This product does exactly what it says it does. It allows you to have multiple headphone connections into one outlet. 2x 3.5mm headphone cables plugged into this splitter, and then you plug the male end into your headphone jack on your computer, or any other device that has a headphone jack. ☆☆☆☆☆ Rating because: + RoHS compliant (which means there is no harmful substances created with this splitter) + 24K gold plated (high quality sound with little to no distortion) + lifetime warranty (who doesn't like a lifetime warranty on what they buy!?) + Extremely affordable ($5 currently on Amazon) + Snug Connection (doesn't come unplugged if snagged)

The Thin 1/8" Cord May Mean More Resistance, And A Signal Loss Resulting In Less Headphone Sound Volume.
iMBAPrice iMBA-PIS-06MF 6-Feet Gold Plated 3.5mm Male to 3.5mm Female Extension Stereo Audio Cable, by iMBAPrice. Not an awful lot to be said here. From end to end, this 1/8" thick headphone extension cord measures 6'2"L. Both the male and female plugs are gold plated. The female stereo mini-plug snaps firmly together with a male stereo mini-plug. Using a magnifying glass, I can read the following information printed on the cord for the full length of the cord: "IMBAprice - Pro IMBA Series, 6 feet RoHS compliant, lifetime warranty". Connected to a set of headphones, both earphones work correctly with no static interference when the cord is moved. The only thing not here that I would like to see, is the use of a thicker and sturdier 3/16" inch thick cord instead of the present 1/8" thick cord. The 1/8" thick cord weighs less for home use, but for professional use, a 3/16" or even a 1/4" thick cord with thicker wires inside would stand up to heavy use better, have less resistance, and lose less sound volume in a pair of headphones, especially for longer cord runs. Four stars overall, due to the use of a 1/8" thick cord.

Just what I needed to add a 3.5mm connection to my Audi A4 B8
My 2010 Audi A4 isn't equipped with a 3.5mm connection because I have what Audi calls AMI (Audi Music Interface). In short, it's a system for steaming music via 30-pin, 3.5mm or USB connections. The drawback is that it requires an AMI cable for each type of device you want to plug in. It also means that I would have to reach in the glovebox every single time I want to switch from ipod to 3.5mm, so I decided to find a solution that would allow me to stream music without reaching into my glove box every single time. In other words, I wanted to have a 3.5mm connection in the center console arm rest and that is where this 12-ft cable came in. I ended up buying the AMI to 3.5mm cable along with this wonderful 12-ft cable to route to my arm rest. I can explain here, but I'll just include the DIY solution I created and posted on Audizine for anyone here who is interested in using this to solve your missing 3.5mm problem. DIY Link: [...] I can finally stream Spotify, Songza, YouTube, and any song from my ipod or phone using this cable! I hope it lasts a very long time! So far, so good! The music sounds crystal clear and the volume is not affected. I get great sound from this cable! Purchase this cable! You won't regret it!

Thumbs up for me
Does what it's supposed to. Quality seems quite nice given the relatively low price as I've seen some extenders with thinner cords. I ordered the 6 ft cord. I am not sure if some of the other reviewers who had issues ordered a different length. I wanted to use the extender cord to use with a MOVO VXR300 microphone. The cord on the microphone is coiled and quite sort as it's only meant to screw onto your camera or camcorder and plug in from on top your camcorder/camera, but I want to use the mic for interviews with my camcorder so it would best to have the microphone closer than the short cord will allow I just tested the mic and this extender cord on my recorder and it worked nicely. So far though I haven't gone into the field with it. If I have any more comments after I test it with the camcorder in the "field" I will update this review.

Handy as extension audio cables
I bought three of these cables to use as extension cords from our iPad to our kids’ headphones for watching movies in our Minivan. They are heavy duty and work great. There is no reduction in sound quality using these cables. They are plenty long enough to run along the floor, under the mats, and reach the backseat of the van. We have had them several years and they are still in great shape. We don’t use them in our vehicle much anymore, but they are handy to use with our smart phones when plugging directly into our computer speakers while still allowing us to move around the room freely. Great quality cords at an awesome price!

Great, if not defective!
Defective. Have a brand new set of Marshall earphones, plugged it into this cable, and sound only comes out of one of the headphones. Wrestle the connection around, and it will switch from one ear to the other. Pain in the what. Would have mailed it back, but shipping cost doesn't justify it. Sad... I was looking forward to it; it had a great rating and a simply functional cable would have been great! Be sure to check your cable when you get it, test it, and send it back if it's defective!! UPDATE Saw this review (below) and it may apply to my issue outlined above: "UPDATE - I found out that there is technically nothing wrong with this cable other than it is the wrong style to work with my headphones. If you have a standard headset with no microphone, this cable should work fine. Because this cable had 2 rings, it was not connecting properly (through no fault of its own). I called the headphone manufacturer and they explained why. The headphones I have are by Klipsch. They have a built in microphone and thus have a 3 ring, 4 conductor cable. What I really needed was a "3 ring 3.5mm 4 Conductor Mini-Stereo + Mic or Video M/F EXTENSION Cable". Moral to the story - make sure the extender you purchase has the same number of rings or bands on the tip of the cable"
