This workbook, Cursive Handwriting Practice Workbook for Teens , is designed to inspire teens' interest in learning and practicing cursive handwriting. Teens enjoy writing sentences like " Wizard school is so cool ," and, " Talk to you later ." Exercises like these help to make learning fun, even at home. This unique teenage handwriting workbook provides teens who need to improve their cursive writing fluency a chance to do it with a more age appropriate workbook (since the sentences were prepared with a teenage audience in mind). Note : For teens who need more advanced handwriting practice (with a smaller font size and narrower lines, and without tracing exercises), Julie Harper also has a more advanced cursive handwriting workbook for teens: Advanced Cursive Handwriting Practice Workbook for Teens (ISBN 1523234598). This workbook focuses on writing phrases and sentences in cursive in three parts: Students practice tracing and copying phrases and sentences in Part 1. Part 2 just involves copying (with no tracing). A challenge is presented in Part 3: The sentences are printed, and students must rewrite them in cursive. This requires students to remember what the cursive letters look like (though they can look at a chart on pages 5-6 if they need a reminder). May your students or teenagers improve their handwriting skills and enjoy reading and writing these phrases and sentences. Updated August 15, 2014 (minor corrections). Review: Celebrating Cursive! - Sadly, the days of including cursive handwriting in a child's basic curriculum has past, and as a former teacher I say it behooves every parent to incorporate this book into homework time. My granddaughter is the only one in her class to know how to write in cursive, and believe me, she's proud. Studies show that the right-left brain alignment is strengthened with cursive review, and this book is fabulous! It's modern and up-to-date and just right for any child. I got it because their is a lot of practice and geared towards the interests of today's youth. Review: Built confidence and made learning easy & fun! - I was always disappointed that my daughter's elementary school did not teach cursive writing, and since we started homeschooling recently, I decided better late than never. My daughter was initially intimidated by learning cursive, but this book is so much fun that she even worked ahead of our scheduled lessons (!) and now can both read and write in cursive easily. This is a great workbook that helped develop what will be a lifelong skill.

With the help of this and one other work book ...
With the help of this and one other work book, my then 11-year granddaughter was able to learn and practice cursive writing over her summers with her Grammy and me, Granddaddy. It features easy-to-learn examples and exercises and she did most of the work. Her school doesn't teach it, yet much of our history and letters are written in cursive, and nothing is more elegant than cursive compared to block printing. My granddaughter is really proud she worked hard to acquire this life-long skill.

great book
I purchased this book for my 10 year old daughter for Christmas. They have started to stop teaching cursive handwriting in our school district. They are only teaching the very basics now. My daughter had an interest in learning so I started searching for a book to help with that. This one fit the bill. She is really enjoying it and it is easy for her to follow along with. I like that it has the tracing and then on your own writing. I would definitely recommend this book. I think it is geared more towards pre teens than older teens though.

Good practice, but some questionable content for some
I like the book overall and the style of cursive. It gives plenty of practice and the sentences are more teen oriented. One of my kids pointed out a few phrases so I read through the entire book and found some things that might be problematic for people who are not interested in having their kids write phrases about occult practices and such. It is full of zombie sentences, as well, but I do understand that a lot of the teen interest in books and movies is centered around vampires, zombies, and witches. On page 58 it mentions old-fashioned games which includes a Ouija board in with things like cards and rock, paper, scissors. Also p 57 lists items or abilities associated with witchcraft. Another issue with that page was that it was a list that wasn't a sentence, but it ended with a period. One other little nitpicky thing is page 43 where they copy a sentence that says, "Dad is my ATM machine." Not exactly something I would want reinforced in my kids minds. So if you are sensitive to content, you might want to find something else.

My teenage asked to learn cursive! This book is awesome for teens!
My 16 yr old can barely write his signature much less writing in cursive since it has been removed from core class education. He asked to learn cursive. He also has trouble reading some cursive writing. I didn't realize this would be the outcome or I would have addressed it sooner! The book is awesome because the practice sentences are amusing for teenagers. A++++++

Great for Teens.
A gift for one of my godsons, but from what I hear from his parents, an excellet teaching and learning tool. They were even able to get him to unplug his earphones, tablet and cell phone long enough for him to appreciate it! Now, just in case his electronic devices are not working (according to him, this could NEVER happen!), he'll at least be able to communicate legibly in writing.

I love it for my 9-year-old daughter but for a teen???
I purchased this for my 9-year-old third grader because she just finished learning the single letters and, now, needs something to practice words. I needed to be sure she could trace and write and to be sure her interest was held while doing so. It exceeds my expectations. The phrases are short and age-appropriate; however, for a teen? I guess it depends on personal needs. I would think this is too remedial for a teenager unless they are just beginning to learn cursive. Take a look at the inside...it is a fair representation of the entire book. It gets progressively more difficult in that the phrases go from being traceable to untraceable to translation from printing to cursive; however, the phrases don't seem to get longer or more difficult. They are just that...phrases. For my 11-year-old, I chose "Wacky Sentences Handwriting Workbook" for third and fourth grade, also by Julie Harper. I feel that book is more age-appropriate for a teen. It is mostly personal preference and, I can tell you, my 11-year-old would much rather she had this book than the wacky sentences book; however, only because the phrases are shorter and, she feels, would be less work for her.
