## Overview

Dakota Red by Ohio Valley Nitro is a 16oz aerosol spray paint featuring a nitrocellulose finish specially blended to replicate the classic 60's Fender guitar color. Designed for both novice builders and professional manufacturers, it offers full coverage for one guitar body and pairs best with complementary sealers and lacquers to achieve an authentic vintage look.

## Description

Originally found on 50's vintage Cadillacs and Thunderbirds. This is also used on Frankenstein re-creations. Spray over a body that has been prepared and sprayed with primer. Ohio Valley Nitro offers a full line of nitrocellulose finishes in 16oz. (12oz. fluid) aerosol spray cans. They have designed this product to be used by the first time guitar builder to guitar manufacturers. Each color has been specially blended to match the original color used by the guitar manufactures. The contents of each can is pure nitrocellulose. Each can has enough material to finish at least 1 guitar comfortably. To ensure professional results we suggest using this with Behlen Vinyl Sealer and Stringed Instrument Lacquer.

Review: This was NOT DAKOTA RED - I normally order from Guitar Reranch for accurate vintage colors. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get in touch with them. No one answers their phone, no voice-mail, no response to emails. I decided to try Ohio Valley Nitro, since they are apparently the only company that listed Dakota Red as having that color available. (Even Stuart MacDonald doesn't offer it.) I was very disappointed when I saw the color appeared as a Bright Red similar to Ferrari Red instead of that dark blood color that is characteristic of Dakota Red. This paint wasn't cheap and the shipping was over $10 (about half of the price of the paint!). This is for a restoration job and the color is so far off. My customer won't be satisfied and I will have lost the time I invested in repairing and prepping the body. I don't know what their other colors are like, but if this is any indication of their color matching, I would not recommend their product to anyone. I will certainly never buy from them again.

It's not Dakota Red. This product is more between Fiesta Red and bright red.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Take your time and follow directions

I don’t know what previous people experienced but I painted my j bass with Okio Valley and it turned out incredibly well. I only took off one star because it dries a bit brittle. Chipped some tiny areas when reinstalling pickups. You need to shake up the pigmented cans for a couple minutes and store in a room about 70 degrees. Dakota red is beautiful
