Great for small filter situations
For the money you do not receive much. It is smaller than Ehiem substrat so most likely you will have to use a media bag. Good surface area. Great for smaller filters where you want good bio media.

Converted my new 16 gallon Biorb filtration....
I went looking for this stuff after stumbling on the video of a Biorb filtration upgrade and converted both my 4 gallon biorb and the new 16 gallon one I ordered but hadn't set up yet. The first pic is the 16 gallon set up as a blackwater nano tank, and the second is the 4 gallon. Both with the filtration, sponge and biomedia upgrades under the larger rocks, decor/wood. The changes have been a game changer for me and I am completely in love with this media and plan on slowly upgrading all of my Betta and nano biorb set ups (I have a weird obsession with the tanks for some reason) with it one tank at a time as it is a bit pricey compared to other options, but it is worth the initial cost with the money saved in the long run on filter cartridges and the annoyance of having to practically take the tank apart just to change them. The amount of filtration power that it gives is amazing!

You'd don't get much but good stuff
I would have gotten eheim substrate pro but it was sold out so i started looking for something else. These are smaller then those so I can fit more of them which means more surface area. Good thing I just needed some for my hob. If it's for a canister then you will have to buy alot more of it and it's pricey.

Very nice filter media
Of all the different filter media i've tried, this has become my new favorite. The small media makes it easy to use in any tank size. I have it in a 5gal hang on back filter and 40 gal all in one. The texture is really nice and I havent had any issues after about 8 months. Will definitely buy again

Biohome media for converted bioorb filtration.
So far so good. I also follow pondguru and am doing the converted bioorb underground filtration using the biohome media as substrate. It’s expensive but good substrate always is. That said I did not need as many pounds of this substrate as I would if it were smaller and finer substrate so I think the cost is about the same as I have spent on other start up tanks.

Converting my Baby BiOrb. BUY THIS
This is the best there is but you don't get much for your money. I wish I would have measured but I would say about 2 American cups of gravel. I watched pimp my filter #49 by Pondguru on Youtube, to upgrade my BiOrb filter so I didn't have to use the sharp ceramic substrate that BiOrbs come with. I have the 4 gallon tank and after cutting out the pond foam and placing it in my tank, I then poured in one 2 lbs bag of this, and it wasn't enough. I just ordered a second bag which will do the trick. This substrate is expensive but from everything I've read, it is worth it with good bacteria and filtration., great for shrimp and plants. It is impossible to get a clean tank with BiOrbs substrate and I've gone through a lot of fish and shrimp because cleaning the substrate is a nightmare with the ceramic substrate. Why doesn't BiOrb get this right?

One Of The All Time Best Bio-media
I don't mind paying the high price for one of the best bio-medias ever.

Works For What I need It For
I decided to try to convert my Biorb, and these pieces are perfect. Just cit to shape and put them in. Pretty thick too.
