I had a piece of steel plate that I bolted it to for greater surface area, balance and so it wouldn't force the jack into the dirt when jacking the stump and it worked perfectly. It is made well. Strong and easy to use. One little lever you pull up and you can jack it up and you push the lever down to release the jack back down. I have a lot of things I can do with this tool. I would definitely recommend this jack to anyone. For the extra few $ should I just go with 60?** A: I use mine to pull out 4x4 wooden posts out of the frozen ground during the winter. I install & remove 4x4 posts for real estate companies. I'm constantly in and out of the truck with it this time of year so to me the 36 inch was more advantageous. It didnt make sense for me to lug a 60 inch jack in and out. They are heavy. It all depends what you are going to use it for. 60 inch might be better if you are using it for off road use with a Jeep or some other off road vehicle.
