## Customer Reviews

Let's face it - this is a bead thermistor stuck in a 3mm motherboard standoff and is only as good as the epoxy job.

I thought I would give this thermistor a shot since I was about to change out my heater block and switch nozzles anyway. The existing thermistor was working fine. It was cheap and had some reasonable reviews so I thought I would give it a try as it might eliminate some of the hassles mounting a bare thermistor. I hate to give bad reviews since so many people only post a review when they are unhappy with a product. In this case I think I should give fair warning to other users about what this product actually is and the risks involved in using it.This is not my first rodeo. I have rebuilt and serviced this print head literally dozens of times and it still has the original thermistor I got for it. I know how fragile these leads are and how to strain relieve them to avoid breakage.I installed this thermistor with a new heater block on my E3D print head. I was careful with the leads when tightening the thermistor into heater block. I strain relieved leads so there was no stress on leads where they enter the stud as I normally do with the fragile bare thermistors and undid my whole wiring harness to the head and swapped out the old thermistor. I did a test print using T-Glase at 238C and after about 10min the thermistor came out of the epoxy resulting in the head overheating and started burning the filament. Luckily I was watching it and noticed when the filament started turning caramel colored.Let's face it - this is a thermistor that has been epoxied into a brass motherboard standoff. It is only as good as the blob of epoxy holding it in and the epoxy job in general. I won't be trying this again. Be forewarned that this will be a total hit or miss proposition from unit to unit. It's back to mechanically clamping the thermistor to the heater block for me.

Not necessary but nice to have and works great.

*by J***D on Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2016*

I started using these instead of the ones you capture under the screw head and I really like em. Yep way more expensive but I can do a complete heater block/nozzle change now much faster. I wouldn't say they are more accurate but they certainly are more convenient. The first one of these I bought ran about 3 months and only stopped working cause I ham fisted it one day and broke the wire right down at the screw in piece. the seond one is still running fine after maybe 2 months so far. I have 2 spares just in case.

Accurate, But Lags By a Substantial Amount On Initial Heat

*by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2016*

I bought this because I didn't want to deal with assembling the thermistor that comes with the e3d v6. The reviews here made it seem like a no brainer. I've been having issues with oozing though, so I decided to check the temperatures. Because it's enclosed in a hunk of metal, it takes a long time to register the proper temperature. To test this I put a temp probe into the hole the thermistor would normally go in, with this product screwed into the hole above it (normally for the screw to hold the thermistor). I set the temperature to 200. When my probe read 200, this product only read 150. I have my settings proper in Marlin, and eventually the two probes will read the same temperature once this hunk of metal stabilizes. But I could see a setting of 240 easily exceeding the recommended 280 temp before this thermistor registered 240. Be careful. If you don't mind "stepping up" your temps, this thermistor would probably be great, but I don't want to wait for long stabilization times as I slowly move to my target temperature, so I'm switching to the thermistor that came with the e3d.
