Dead Space (PC)

Their are two horror games best now this is one of them!! Dead space(s) and Bioshock are a 10 out of 10 IMO. People will say Amnesia great game im not fan of Myst style where i don't kind of think i am in the game. My copy was a simple box with code wish I had the version with instructions but ill save $5 dollars for something else thank you. That being said your in an isolated dark empty space station with creatures popping out all over the place. And not one after another you have time to explore an use cool tools the game is unique an non-conventional style gun and you pull up digital inventory while still on screen maybe while your just about to be attacked. Digital Bread crumb light trail that tells you your way is amazing!!!Story others feel story is lacking I love it but i am biased i love survival horror. You are definitely trying to survive that's a big story you ask me. I like to survive but if you want to interact 10000 times with PC character and have in depth conversations with one this is not your game. Then maybe try mass effect dragon age etc..Which i love them too.This game like no other got my adrenalin pumped up and actually scared me a lot!!!!! Play this game lights off at night in quiet room I dare you. The disc worked perfectly, the code worked, and the game runs smoothly on my laptop. It doesn't quite work well with a ps3 controller, so I'd keep that in mind. I have to use JoyToKey to map the controller to the game, but it still doesn't work quite right. Regardless, I'm a huge fan of the Dead Space series, so this is no different. It is a scary game to play alone, but that's half the fun.

I like the series, as expected.

If you were to take movies like Aliens, Event Horizon, and The Thing then put them into a third person video game, you would get Dead Space. Great cinematic sequences, high speed action, and awesome sound that's excellent with home theater or head phones. A couple of downsides; some of the weapons and the melee attack are utterly worthless. If you like creepy atmosphere, SciFi, and gore; you'll love this game.

Had to get this game because my son has it on xbox. I don't spend alot of time in front of the computer until now. When I was younger and play station came out with resident evil I was crazy over it. Well looks like I brought out the boy in me and love this game. I guess you can call me Dead Spaced.

The first and best of the trilogy. Play it in the dark and just try to remain calm-I dare yiy!A first person shooter that mixes survival and chilling creatures to creep you out.Highly recommended.

Had to tweak the settings for this console port to play right on my PC using keyboard and mouse. Good game though...I really like the cool but eerie "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" intro. I recommend DS2 and DS3 as well.

Zum Spiel selbst:Ein sehr gutes Spiel mit einer schönen düsteren Atmosphäre. Ein Spielprinzip mit der optimalen Komplexität und dem genau richtigem Hauch von "Charakterleveln" für das Gore-Genre. Und eine interessante Geschichte.EA-Support: Die Portierung des Titels auf den PC ist schlecht. Folgende Gründe:- Ein seit Jahren bekanntes Problem direkt am Anfang des Spiels: Der Spawn des ersten Monsters funktioniert bei vielen Systemen garnicht, was dazu führt, dass der Spieler nicht durch eine offene Tür treten kann und das Spiel somit an der Stelle schon beendet ist. Dies geschieht direkt am Anfang des Spiel (ca. 5 Minuten ingame nach dem Intro). Das Problem lässt sich lösen, indem man an den Vsync-Einstellungen des Spiels und den Vsync-Einstellungen der Grafikkartentreibersoftware rumspielt und für sein System die richtige Konfiguration findet, damit das Monster spawnt und man weiterspielen kann. Problem dabei: Es gibt keinen Savepoint vor dieser Szene und man ist gezwungen sich jedesmal das komplette Intro (das man nicht abbrechen kann) anzuschauen und die ersten Minuten zu spielen bis man sieht ob die Einstellungen funktioniert haben.- Schwierigkeitsgrad: Ich habe das Spiel auf "Hard" begonnen. Nach dem ersten Chapter wurde die Schwierigkeitsstufe für die darausfolgenden einfach auf "Normal" gesetzt ohne der Möglichkeit dies wieder zu ändern. Sprich, das Spiel ist (zumindest bei mir) nur auf "Normal" spielbar (bis auf das erste Chapter).- Maussteuerung: Leicht schwammig ohne angelegter Waffe. Man merkt, dass es für einen Controller entwickelt wurde. Ist aber ok solange man nicht die Waffe anlegt. Jedoch ist das ein Shooter. Bei angelegter Waffe ist die Steuerung mit der Maus sehr schwammig und schlecht. Leichte Mausbewegungen werden nicht realisiert (keine Bewegung). Es kommt andauernd zum Wegzucken des Fadenkreuzes: Man zielt und auf einmal schaut man etwa 20°-90° (!!!) in eine ganz andere Richtung. Das hat mich mitten im Kampf sehr oft das Leben gekostet und ist ein absolut fataler Fehler.- Es gibt keine Cloudsynchronisation unter Origin. Keine Erfolge oder Ähnliches. Savegames müssen über den Explorer gerettet werden.Fazit: Der Fakt, dass dieses Spiel schon seit 6 Jahren auf dem Markt ist und EA keinen Finger rührt um seit einem halben Jahrzehnt bekannte Fehler zu korrigieren ist ein Armutszeugnis für diesen Publisher. EA macht sich keine Mühe auf die Spieler einzugehen und zu Helfen. Dies ist sehr schade für das Spiel selbst, da es ein wirklich gelungenes Spiel ist.Würde man diese 3 Fehler korrigieren und eine Cloudsynchronisation mit ein paar Erfolgen für das Durchspielen verschiedener Schwierigkeitsstufen einbauen, dann wäre dieses Spiel einfach der Hammer und würde Spieler länger binden. Nach dem Durchspielen des Spiels erhält man eine neue Rüstung und ein neuer, höherer Schwierigkeitsgrad wird freigeschaltet. Was aber aufgrund der vorliegenden Fakten auf dem PC absoluter Schwachsinn ist. Der Schwierigkeitsgrad ist trotzdem immer auf "Normal" und durch die miserable Steuerung spielt man praktisch einen Grad höher.Ich hoffe, dass es irgendwann einen Wandel gibt und Publisher anfangen qualitativ hochwertige und fertige Titel auf den Markt zu bringen, anstatt das geistige Gut von Entwicklern zu vergewaltigen und Sachen einfach auf den Markt zu kotzen, da Weihnachten vor der Tür steht. Dieses geldgeile Konzept schadet den Entwicklerteams (die oft eine super Arbeit leisten) und zerstört Spielspaß von Titeln, die das Potenzial zu viel mehr haben.

Dead Space has been around for a while now, yet the vitriol shown towards EA copy protection continues unabated.The game is a fairly basic FPS and the points that make it interesting are it story and the different take in weapons and killing.The story is a fairly generic SCI-FI horror story (although if you read all the notes that are lying around it does become much more complex). Alien creatures have taken over a mining ship that you have turned up to rescue. You are an engineer and quickly split from the rest of your crew you then follow several missions to repair systems on the ship and as you advance along the story you find bigger/nastier monsters...Now the monsters are very interesting. They are basically the remains of the crew reanimated by aliens and morphed into different shapes and sizes. The "correct" way to kill the monsters is to use strategic dismemberment, a nice way of saying you cut their arms and legs off! The different weapons do lead to slightly different strategies towards the monsters, and some weapons are ideally suited to mass brawls whilst others are idea ranged weapons.The music keeps it nice and atmospheric and there is always enough going on to keep the brain in gear. Unfortunately it is a pretty short game (10 hours max) and there is no real opportunity for side quests are all the areas are pretty small.The controls are pretty poor and the over the shoulder camera angle is annoying at best. The mouse acceleration is set to a really slow level and on a couple of the mini games it is almost impossible to use.My Machine is a Q6700 8GB RAM Radeon 3870XT and it plays quite happily at 1280x1024 at the highest graphical settings.The game is reasonably good entertainment whilst it is being played as long as you can put up with its flaws. 6/10

An absolutely great game. As some have said, it is a bit gory in places, but it fits with the mood of the game and i think you can turn it off/down in the settings anyway.If i had to compare it to anything else, id say its doom3 with bells on - everything that game was and more, which is no mean feat.Gameplay - varied with some excellent new twists (zero gravity for example). That said, the basic combat can become repetitive, but if you mix in new weapons, upgrades and tactics it wont get boring.Graphics - really, really good. I cant think what else to say! Performed seamlessly on my machine at full detail 1280x1024 (see below for specs).Sound - atmosphere is the word here. Its won plenty of awards for its effects and score, which it thoroughly deserves.Fun - absolutely. The varied enemies, 'tactical dismemberment' and quality set pieces really make this game enjoyable.Overall this is an awesome game and only really let down by the fact its a bit short at around 12hrs or so. Theres some replayability as you keep all your kit from the first run when you restart, which is a good laugh. Also i think if you play it more as a RPG and fully explore everything and everywhere, it'll last a lot longer on first play. Exploration away from the plot is worthwhile, as the level of detail added really makes it worth looking about.My Machine:Core2Quad 2.4GHz (Q6600)4Gb DDR2 800Mhz512Mb GF 9600GT (XFX)24bit SB AudigyOh, and as for the DRM issues... well im sorry but end of the day this is too good a game to miss. I avoid EA in general due to their draconian views on DRM, but had to make an exception for this. For the record i had no problems installing, it hasnt killed my machine (yet) etc etc. [even if thats not really the point!]

Zur Handlung ist ja schon Alles geschrieben, ich beschränke mich auf einige technische Aspekte.Zu einem Bug:Genau ein Bug ist mir aufgefallen, leider ein Spielentscheidender.In Level 11 muss man eine Raumfähre entladen und dazu später eine Energiequelle aktivieren.Aktiviert man die Energiequelle, bevor man die Ladung der Raumfähre in Position vor der Halle gebracht hat, bleiben die Tore verschlossen und die Energiequelle kann nachträglich nicht mehr gelöst werden.Es hilft nur einen früheren Speicherpunkt laden, ansonsten geht das Spiel nicht weiter.So zumindest bei mir.Zum Kopierschutz DRM:Das Spiel lässt genau 5 Aktivierungen zu.Jede externe Installation kostet eine Aktivierung, die aber mit einem offiziellen EA Tool für den eigenen Rechner rückgängig gemacht werden kann.Dabei werden auch die verbrauchten bzw. noch möglichen Aktivierungen angezeigt.Zur Steuerung:Die Steuerung ist leider für den PC schlecht portiert worden.Pfeiltasten gehen im Spiel gar nicht zu belegen, Abhilfe schafft nur ein Zusatzprogramm aus dem Net.Zur Sprachausgabe:UK Uncut ist leider neben anderen Sprachen komplett english, aber es gibt im Net einen deutschen Sprachpatch, wo zumindest die Menüführung, die handelnden Personen + Tonbänder deutsch werden, die Videosequenzen bleiben english.Da die Handlung sehr komplex ist, sollte man es sich wegen der Verständlichkeit gönnen.Zum Schwierigkeitsgrad:Das Spiel ist teilweise selbst in normalem Schwierigkeitsgrad arg schwer, was auch an der Steuerungsbelegung liegt.Man sollte sich bei Problemen nicht scheuen, die Video - Walktrouhgs der gängigen Net - Plattformen zu studieren, um eine gewisse Taktik zu erlernen.Desweiteren gibt es auch einige Trainer, wenn man sie denn nutzen möchte.Insgesamt ein fesselndes und recht umfangreiches Game, das bald eine Fortsetzung bekommt.
