Exceptional value. *by K***R on January 21, 2026* Real nice! I had purchased a Henckels knife block but almost all of the slots were too narrow to hold full-width knives (I own a kiritsuke, chef knife, santoku and nakiri) so I had to return it. This Shenzhen block, on the other hand, fits full-sized knives in almost all of the slots. Additionally the slots are flared at the top which helps to slip knives in a bit more easily. The angle of this knife block is significantly lower (more horizontal/less vertical) than most blocks which means it consumes significantly more counter space. On the other hand it works better under a low cabinet than a more-vertical block would. It could probably stand to be spaced a little more between slots vertically: full-size knife handles (like Shun) will rub up against each other if you don't alternate knife slots or alternate handle directions. I loaded paring knives in the bottom slots. It was a nice bonus to get those out of the drawer. If you put scissors in that middle slot, their handles will block the slots to the left and the right; you'll have to choose between the slots and the scissors. Quality-wise this block is mediocre. The outer edges aren't glued perfectly (there's a gap) and the interior wood quality (plus the carving quality) is on the low side. Still - being able to store and protect all my knives for under $30 is a great deal.
