Daylight White CFL Bulbs
This is a four-pack of 14-watt (60-watt equivalent) CFL bulbs. The color is "daylight," which means it's very white compared with regular light bulbs. I recently bought a three-way CFL for my sewing room, thinking to save myself from having to switch burned-out bulbs all the time. I didn't realize it was "daylight," or what a stark difference it would make! Half my room was suddenly brighter and whiter, as if I'd grown a window in the corner of the room. Compared to normal light bulbs, it was like . . . well, night and day. As soon as possible, I ordered these 60-watt equivalent CFLs to place in the table lamps around the rest of the room. Now the whole sewing room is bright and airy, and I can rest assured that the colors of my fabrics are much more accurate when I photograph them. Just as a side note, don't be confused by the wattage equivalent. If your lamp is 40-watt, that does NOT mean you can only buy 40-watt equivalent CFLs. Wattage is wattage, so ignore the "equivalent" part and buy whatever kind gives the light output you need, so long as the total wattage is equal or less than your lamp's maximum. For example, my table lamps are 40-watt maximum. These CFLs are 60-watt equivalents, but they work just fine because they are actually 14-watts, much less than my lamps' maximum wattage. They are a bit brighter than the 40-watt equivalents, but that suits me fine. I actually needed more light in my sewing room, so I'm thrilled. Five stars, because they are bright and white, exactly what I was hoping for. Better yet, they'll save you money in the long run, because they don't use as much electricity and don't have to be replaced as often.

Let There Be Light - 'daylight' indoors!
I think that we all have specific likes and dislikes, and that carries into the light bulbs that we choose for our homes. Some folks may prefer the warmer, yellow tones that traditional light bulbs provide, but my preference is to have a clear, bright light. I like to trick myself into believing that I am enjoying a bright, sunny day during the depths of the wet, grey winters that are the norm for where I live. When GE came out with their "Reveal" bulbs I was pretty excited, and soon had replaced all of the yellow light bulbs in the house. I had not found the perfect light bulb until I tried this most recent light bulb iteration, the 'daylight' ,5000k bulbs. I was finding that I could not see well in my bathroom and decided that I needed to try daylight bulbs in there. I needed 7 bulbs and ordered two packages of these Ecosmart bulbs to try. I have tried other brands of 'daylight' bulbs in the past and find them very pleasing, but the light that this brand provides seems to be a bit realistic and bright to me. Voila! I really could not believe that a simple light bulb could make such a difference. These bulbs tout that they provide true 5000k lighting, and they do! Truth in advertising. Amazing. What I was the most surprised at was that I replaced my old 60 watt bulbs with these and, aside from having a wonderful , true,'daylight' effect, the intensity of the new bulbs is amazing. It seems that I get much more light from these 60 watt equivalent bulbs than with any other that I have tried. Obviously, I cannot comment on longevity yet. I have not found that other brands last as long as they are 'supposed' to. Even if these don't last as long as they might I am so happy with the clarity of the light that I would buy them again. Simple pleasure for a simple mind. These are very effective and, if you prefer a daylight effect indoors then these are the bulbs for you to try.

So far, so good (even great) ...
i purchased these bulbs on 12/23/14 and so far they are working out great in my kitchen. it's so nice to be able to see everything so clearly. since I read that turning cfl bulbs on and off too often can shorten their life, since installation, I've left my kitchen light on 24/7 to see what the outcome will be regarding lifespan. seems to me these bulbs are doing a great job, since they've been turned on nonstop from 12/26/14 to 03/22/15 (today)!! that's 3 months nonstop lighting and still going strong. if they make it another 3 months, i'll be happy and won't mind replacing my kitchen lighting twice yearly. if they make it for a whole year of 24/7 usage, i'll be even more happy! i think it's ridiculous for the manufacturer to give such a long life span to these bulbs by using around 3 hours per day as normal usage. just a guess, but it seems that the stress of turning these bulbs on and off too often is what shortens their life, and I'm in and out of the kitchen all day long (and sometimes into the night), so it only makes sense to just leave it on (even avoids the warm-up time). let me just say that I don't like these cfl bulbs in the first place and am still using regular incandescent bulbs in most of my lamps. with these cfl's, there seem to be too many choices in color temperature, etcetera, and too many choices make it difficult to find the right bulbs. also, the manufacturers aren't always clear with their packaging as to exactly what they are selling. and I really don't like the learning curve on nearly everything we need to buy nowadays. :(

Now if you are a little dumb like I am
This bulb was exactly what I was looking for. I have been searching for the "white lights" and have finally found them. Now if you are a little dumb like I am, I look at the bulb description and see "bright" and automatically correlate that with white. But after much trial and error I have realized the bulbs that I am looking for are "daylight" bulbs and I hope this clears it up for some of you on the same boat as I am. Now these bulbs came in a package of four and are smaller than your typical energy saving bulbs. But, the size doesn't seem to affect how bright the light is. They fit in to my ceiling fan that takes all four bulbs and when I turned the light on, I did a little happy dance. My room was white! Finally!! I also have a problem with flickering when I turn the lights out but my old bulbs also did this so I don't think this is from the bulbs. Lastly, the reason I gave four stars is, while I love the light, the product packaging looked like it had been opened before. There was tape around the edges and some of the packaging had cracks. So I am assuming I received one that someone else had returned. Upon opening the package and inspecting the product itself, I couldn't find any damage to it nor did I find any signs of use. I didn't really find this as a compelling reason to return it as it is no big deal and I am satisfied overall!

Prettiest lightbulbs EVER.
I was telling my mom about these light bulbs yesterday while I was waiting for them to be delivered, and I'm pretty sure she wasn't quite as enthused about light bulb varieties and selections as I was/am. When they arrived today, I stuck one into a hanging lamp and I can't stop looking at it. The light these bulbs throw off is super clean - a bluish tint that truly does make your house look like it's out in the sunshine. They aren't super powerful, like they won't blind you, but the color of the light is superb. Very relaxing. I'm not a fan of the typical interior yellow bulb - it makes everything (to me) look washed out and faded. These bulbs are the opposite - I love the way the walls and curtains look inside. Also, this is probably the strangest review I've ever written. I'm going to end by saying that if you're looking for a nice light bulb, try these.

LOW COST DAYLIGHT, BRIGHT WHITE also helps with SAD
Never thought I would be writing a review for light bulbs. But because of all the irrelevant, uninformed and nit picky negatives I am writing this one. Shipment came boxed and wrapped in double layer bubble wrap with no broken bulbs. All worked. Daylight CFL bulbs are normally very expensive compared to standard warm white or white CFL's. These 4 bulbs are a bargain delivered for $11 plus no sales tax. Most of you know that already. These are 5000K on the color spectrum which better reproduces daylight than the standard white at 6500K. These bulbs start-up the same as other CFL's in that it takes a few minutes to get to full brightness. Much more light than than standard warm white (2700K) Basics of CFL colors: 2700K is warm white, 3200-3500 is white. 5000K (this bulb) is the closest to daylight color, so it's bright natural white. 6500K is (bluish) white but higher on the visible light spectrum and not as good as the 5000K (daylight). Bulb life: I have been using CFL's for about 8 years now. I've used many brands from cheap to moderately expensive. All brands I've used have about a 10-20% failure rate after a month or 2. None last their rated life. Bulbs fail earlier when they are frequently turned on and off. These daylight bulbs can help with SAD (seasonal affect disorder) where the shorter days of winter and cloudy weather cause mild to moderate depression for many people. SAD (seasonal affect disorder) My first use of these bulbs is in the bathroom. I have a light fixture that takes 4 of these. WOW!! What a difference these make over the warm white bulbs. You can really can see yourself and skin color etc as you would look in natural daylight. The 4 bulbs (240W equivalent) will also help my SAD on workdays I have no time to sit in front of my SAD lamp. The wattage in my bathroom (240W) is high enough where I get a good dose of natural light every morning. I will buy this brand again if the price continues to be competitive and they are still available. Sold by: DEALS AND MORE Fulfilled by Amazon Update: I've been using these bulbs in my bathroom for almost 2 years. Still working great.

Great product at a great price
Great product at a great price. I am about to order more. They really do give off a very clear white light as opposed to the horribly yellow glow of most ordinary bulbs. Originally I bought these because I was unhappy with the quality of light in the front room, which does not have full access to external light and the murkiness of the light was making me feel miserable and claustrophobic. Since using these bulbs, this room is so much more comfortable and cheerful to be in. Being low energy lights means I can happily turn on my 5-bulb floor lamp which is covered in a white paper shade and have wonderful white bright yet not glaring light. Additionally, I was suffering from terrible eye strain when using my PC in another room and thought I needed reading classes, until I replaced the bulbs with these and the eye strain problem disappeared completely! This was a totally unexpected bonus. Buying daylight low energy bulbs in the shops costs MUCH more than from Amazon. I'm about to order more for other rooms.

Not quite there yet.
(I've noticed a lot of negative reactions to my review, so instead of editing it, let me offer this context: CFLs are great for the environment. I don't litter, I drive a fuel-efficient car with very low emissions, and I recycle. I'm not trying to antagonize anyone or say that energy efficiency isn't a noble goal... I'm just reviewing the quality of a product.) I'm a fluorescent light hater. I don't like the cold, soul-sucking light they beam out. Fluorescent light reminds me of hospitals and Wal Mart. But I'm a HUGE fan of GE's daylight incandescent bulbs- the light they put out is clean, white, and modern, without the cold emptiness I feel when I'm in a room lit by CFLs. I've also heard that CFL bulbs have come a long way since they were first introduced to the mass market years ago. So I took a shot on these, thinking they might have finally gotten CFLs that actually look like daylight. No. It still looks fluorescent, and I can still feel it sucking the life out of me. I know I'm wasting 46 Watts an hour, and that my incandescents are gonna burn out in a couple months, but I don't care. It's worth the quality of the light. I replaced the lightbulb outside my front door with one of these, and stuck another one over the kitchen sink, but they won't be going anywhere that I'll spend more than 20 minutes a week. Try harder, CFL. I hope you can get it right some day.
