Grave Before Shave Fisticuffs Strong Hold Mustache Wax Gentlemen's Blend 1 Oz. Tin

My favorite so far. It smells great, and holds all day. I carry it my pocket all the time. It applies very easily, and lasts all day unless I get food or drink in it. Gives me great stiff curls. It takes a second to wash out, but its still not a problem. Its also the cheapest I've purchased too.

I had never waxed my mustache before, but recently I played Hercule Poirot and went for the full handlebar mustache look. I agonized over what product to use, read lots of reviews and finally settled on this one, based on the price, and reviews about hold, etc. I could not be happier. It held up great during performances, and even lasted through a couple of days at work. I was able to easily reshape, even when it sagged a bit or got messed up. The wax has a light, pleasant vanilla scent. Even my wife liked it. The wax washes out very easily in the shower. It is a small container, but you don’t need a whole lot for each use (depending on how much mustache you’re dealing with and how solid of a hold you want, obviously.) So it will probably last for a while.

Long lasting mustache wax with a medium hold. It’s less tacky than other waxes, and it comes out of the tin very easily. The smell is nice and I’m fine with it, but it is very prominent, so if you don’t like it, you’re out of luck. You will smell it for the entire day. It gives the stache a slightly greasy look to it which isn’t to my liking, but it’s better than some (death grip), so I can’t complain too much. It’s a very good option and functioned as expected. The photo is after 7 hours of use.

Great hold and great scent. What else is there to say?!?

I want to love this. Really, I do. The scents are great, but this stuff just has no hold. I'll apply a little bit to get some handlebars going. My left one is cooperative, but my right one always wants to droop backward and this wax doesn't seem to do a thing to stop it. So, I'll add more. While I'm at it, I add a bunch to the main body of the stache to keep it out of my mouth. No luck there. It'll sweep it aside, sure, but no amount of fiddling will get all the coarse hairs off my lip. While messing with that, I end up messing up the curls. My left one will no longer be cooperative, and my right one will remain belligerent. I'll mess with it more, the curls will have completely separated at this point. I add more wax. My face is a waxy, greasy mess, and my stache looks too unatural. The middle has begun clumping together. Queue the combing out, messing up the curls, and repeating the entire process. Not sure I'll be reaching the bottom of this tin. It just doesn't seem worth the hassle. I tried keeping the tin in my pocket for a while first like one reviewer either said here or on another product, and that just made it completely ineffective. The only way I have got this stuff to hold is if I take a shower, dry my face thoroughly, then apply it immediately after. Though, the time I'm thinking of may have been the bourbon vanilla scented one. Anyway, your experience may vary, but I don't have the coarsest facial hair and it doesn't work for me. So, proceed with low expectations.

This is a great wax for light to medium course mustaches. Keeps its shape all day without re-application and is water resistant. And all the scents actually smell great. It's also easy to remove with light soap or shampoo. If you need something stronger, I would suggest a brand called "death grip" but that one has a couple drawbacks. It holds great but is harder to shape and it's real hard to get remove, so I give Fisticuffs a great score!

I’ve been trying numerous mustache wax’s of different brands and consistencies. This brand and consistency is probably top 2 (mountaineer being my other top choice). This scent is nice but maybe a tad too sweet. Similar to a candle. Gives a Vanilla Coke scent with a touch of cologne. I think I might order the aphrodisiac scent next. The medium hold is perfect for me because I’m not trying to curl or point my mustache. The description says “strong hold” but it is definitely not. I tend to lean toward the more natural feel and look. This medium hold allows my mustache to stay soft but still keeps hairs in order. No crazy rogue hairs. Plus it gives a nice shine and great smell. It’s almost like a conditioner/balm with light shaping. The wax is easy to apply and feels similar to a chapstick consistency. Not like tree sapp. If you want a rock solid sculpted mustache that will feel like super glue in your mustache. This is NOT it. If you want a natural subtle flow that you can run your fingers through. This is it. THIS IS NOT A STRONG HOLD WAX. Even though the cab says so. It is not. Which I am glad it isn’t.

So, the world of mustache waxes is rather convoluted. There are so many brands with so many claims and there is NO standardization of features. For example, literally any of them can claim "strong hold" and VERY few of them actually deliver on that particular claim. Because of the disparity in feature claims and delivery and the hazy definitions of the features to begin with I think you have to review mustache wax in a comparative manner. First, it does have a light piney aroma. That's important to note since many claim particular fragrances that you are entirely unable to smell. The fragrance is fairly light and not particularly noticeable after an hour or two but it is fairly pleasant when you first put it on. After fragrance we get to the more important question, how does it work? Despite their claim of a "strong hold" it is not, in fact, a strong hold. Now, while I do find this claim to be false and misleading I don't find it to be a negative feature. Its light hold is simply a feature to be taken into account and considered along with the other features of the product. The hold of the vast majority of moustache waxes depends on one factor: how hard is the wax? If the wax is soft and easy to work the hold will not be strong. If it is hard and requires you to heat it up to even dream of applying it the hold will be a strong one. This wax is very easy to work. At room temperature you may find it semi-hard but, no worry, all you need to do is scrape some with your thumb nail and work it between your thumb and forefinger for a few seconds. Your body heat is enough to make it completely workable. Alternatively, if you carry it in your pocket your body heat already has it at a perfectly workable temperature when you pull it out of your pocket. It's a good mustache wax but there is a tradeoff. It simply depends on your application and preference. If you thoroughly apply a liberal amount it will generally give you an adequate hold as long as it is undisturbed but you will probably find that you need to touch it up regularly. Heat and moisture cause it to lose its hold pretty quickly as well as contact with the area such as eating or drinking. The upside is that, since the wax is so soft, it is extremely easy to apply and reapply but if you're looking for an all day hold this isn't the wax for you.

This moustache wax has been packed well and smells great. I usually use it after i apply some oil to the moustache and contradictory to what i had observed earlier, it holds the moustache quite well. The fragrance lasts for almost the entire day and keeps you feeling good about it! Go ahead, gentleman, buy it!
