Neogeo Arcade Stick Pro - Neo Geo Pocket

Awesome as an arcade stick. A little convoluted as a console, but very fun! This is a great buy, but it takes some time to figure out what is going on. This is a standalone arcade stick, which has a single USB wire attached in a concealed compartment at the bottom. This is also a console, which requires a HDMI cable (not included) and a power supply (wire included, block not included). There is a switch on the side which you set to console mode (on) and standalone arcade stick (off, see pics). So basically you need a long HDMI cable and an outlet near by. It's a weird setup but once you figure out it's easy. And finally, this also allows you to connect Neo Geo mini controllers and use as a console without using the stick. Again, weird setup but finally you are ready for all the fun! The initial game selection is good. But to get the most of this stick I highly recommend getting the updates with include an additional 20 games (total of 40). This takes the unit from good to great! The games are a lot of fun and look much better than Neo Geo mini on the TV. It has smooth scaling and pixel scaling. So if prefer the old fashion pixelated sprites you have it here. The animation is fast, nice, and smooth and looks arcade like (compare Real Bout Fatal Fury Special, Metal Slug X, etc.). The stick itself is big but sits comfortably in your lap. The clicky stick and balance weight makes it accurate when performing fast action moves in fighting games especially. The built quality is very good. I really have no complaints at all here. Very nice feel to it and sturdy. I have been playing it for a week now and find it hard to stop. It's very fun and addictive. I think these games were designed to be played using arcade stick, because that is were they shine the most. The mini is great for a quick pick me up, but this unit is great for serious long play. I highly recommend this for anyone who grew up playing Neo Geo games but was not fortunate to buy an AES console. Or anyone who is simply looking for a great arcade stick. This unit excels in both.

I liken SNK to French sportscars (both at their best). Know what you are getting into before you buy, and don't expect anything to be easy or mediocre. The Neo-Geo mini was SNK's attempt to be 'normal' and sure it sold OK but it was boring. The Arcade Stick Pro is anything but. Pros: 1) The output resolution is much improved from the Mini and actually looks pretty good on a modern TV. 2) Overall the emulation is pretty good (KOF '99 notwithstanding) and is on par with other first party retro consoles. 3) This is not just a retro console, it is also a better than average arcade stick for other consoles and PCs. 4) The official game list (all 40!) have now been unlocked. 27 fighters, 3 sports and 10 action games (including all Metal Slug) are all, relatively, easy to get and you don't have to go through unofficial hacks to add them. 5) More games on the way. Although not officially announced it appears that SNK will be selling add on games in the future. That they have added "shooter", "puzzle", and I believe "platformer" titles to the source code and that the stick has a tonne of available memory indicates that a lot more should be coming soon. 6) CLICKY STICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cons: 1) Not the most comfortable for long term use. Not terrible, just not great. 2) Buttons are OK, but be prepared to upgrade in the future (fortunately not that difficult). 3) Turbo button is awkwardly placed. Again not a deal breaker, but for those situations when you want to toggle turbo on/off, (see point 1 of cons list) like in Shock Troopers, it could be better. 4) SNK has not promoted the upgradeability of the ASP very well, and has kept a lot of it's potential secret (apparently in an attempt to maintain long-term interest). I follow a particular YouTuber and through him I have disseminated the future of the system, but not everyone is that Hardcore into following all of SNK's products. Overall the ASP is a giant step above the Mini and leaves the bitter taste of the X in the past. This is what the Mini should have been, and the future, with SNK's support, looks very bright. If you are on the fence, get off it and just buy it.

Arrived very early, which was nice. The stock parts are really great for the price of this stick. There is a steel plate inside the bottom of the case that adds a nice weight and sturdiness to the feel. I was worried it would feel flimsy, but it feels great. The built-in emulator works well enough, though it did chug a bit during Metal Slug's busier sequences. Mainly, this is an upgradeable stick that is readily compatible with Sanwa/Seimitsu or similar Japanese parts, and clearly designed with that compatibility in mind. Customizing it was (mostly) painless. Awesome value and well worth it. And if you can find the Hylo mod, it pushes the value way passed it's price.

I have had the NG ASP (NeoGeo Arcade Stick Pro) for a little over a month now and I can say I am extremely pleased with it. I bought this with the intention of using it as an arcade stick for my PC, as well as playing the games built-in. —————— Side note: While I have built my own custom joysticks for Raspberry Pi units with Sanwa parts in the past, this is the first stand-alone stick I have ever purchased. —————— Hardware impressions: The stock stick and buttons feel adequate at best, but definitely passable for the casual player. Having used Sanwa parts in the past, I felt the buttons by comparison were a bit stiff, with the joystick having a bit of a longer-throw than I was used to. I decided early-on I wanted to modify the unit (although this will void your warranty) and purchased a set of Seimitsu brand parts after hearing recommendations from several YouTubers. After installing the parts, I can only say, “absolutely no regrets.” The level of control and responsiveness is leaps above the original set of parts and makes the NG ASP feel like a completely refined unit. Keep in mind that the additional investment to upgrade the parts can add up to well over $60 at least (LS-56, PSK-14K x 8, 8-way gate, shaft cover, dust cover, ball top, and mounting plate), but it’s purely a personal preference. —————— Software impressions: If you are a fighting game fanatic, make no mistake that this stick will supply you with enough to keep you happy. 20 games to start from the stock firmware, but can be upgraded through SNK’s website. All 40 can be accessed through alternative methods as well. Also to note, there are other ways of expanding the library, but will leave this to the users to explore on their own. I have also used the joystick with my Steam library and am able to report zero issues with device detection and usability. Successfully loaded up several games and played them with the NG ASP with no noticeable issues. —————— Overall: Extremely pleased with the product. Was originally on the fence about purchasing one, as I had owned the rather mediocre NeoGeo mini and was a bit critical of the brand as a result. Without hearing the rave reviews of other YouTubers, I would have definitely passed on this unit. It appears SNK has listened to it’s fans and truly delivered this time. For the casual gamer, the NG ASP should satisfy your immediate needs, especially if you just want a fun unit to play your games. For those with expendable resources and time, you will notice a significant difference in usability after upgrading the parts. Highly recommended.

I want to write this review for anyone purchasing a Neo Geo Arcade Pro Stick. I think you will be happy with the product if you are aware of what you are buying. There are as I’m writing this review 3 versions, or bundles. A system only that comes with the excellent controller with 20 built in games and nothing else for $129.99. The quality is high and you can connect it to a computer with USB to connect to play. You must buy an HDMI cable to play on a HDTV. You will need to find a Game Linq only available currently outside the US for about $55 plus tax and shipping if you’d like to use the gaming console as a controller on your PS4 or other gaming system. It will currently work on Nintendo Switch, PS3, PS4 but NOT any XBOX consoles. There is also another version or bundle for available with the Game Linq included I believe for $159.99 a much better deal. You get the excellent game console also including the 20 games. I don’t know about an HDMi cable but you save having to buy or import and hunting down the Game Linq. Games play on a computer monitor with the USB or with a HDMI cable at 720p resolution on an HDTV. Same high quality construction because other than the extras it’s the same Neo Geo Arcade Pro Stick. The third version or bundle is in my opinion the best option. You get the high quality Neo Geo Arcade Stick with 20 games. 2 mini Neo Geo controllers, 1 black, 1 white, and the Game Linq for $189.99. I didn’t think I would get an HDMI cable but there was one included in this bundle considering the price this is well worth it. I wish I had known about this version before. The emulator works almost like the original arcade machine. Those that remember the Neo Geo should buy this. There is nothing fancy, just 2D pixel action. One more thing as I am updating my original review and trying to correct my grammar. Re: power, and the manual SNK unfortunately did not do a good job explaining how to use the Arcade Pro as a controller. I would recommend looking online tutorials. As for powering up the unit, well that is also confusing. SNK seems to recommend powering through USB using input on your TV which may not work. If you have a phone charger about 5volts you plug in wall that might be better option then plug USB into that. Android tablet charger would work too. Just plug USB wire supplied with Arcade Pro into that.

I already had an idea of what I was getting into prior to purchasing this item. To put it simply this is an arcade/fight stick that just so happens to be a mini console, there are 20 games available in the beginning and 20 more you can unlock for free using a flashdrive and going to the official site for the product, now onto my review. The version I bought included the arcade stick, HDMI cable, power cable, game link adapter, and two Neo Geo mini pads, everything shipped when it was supposed to, everything was included in the box, my only gripe was in the photo regarding the two mini pads one was black the other was white, I recieved two white ones, which is not a deal breaker I just wanted one of each color, the white matches the arcade stick whereas the black resembles the original Neo Geo CD controller but from what it says the controllers are grabbed at random so you don't know what color you're getting but it wasn't a deal breaker. In regards to quality, I liked the weight and feel of the arcade stick now I know there will be varying opinions in this regard especially when compared to high end arcade sticks, custom sticks and modified sticks, but from videos and reviews it is very moder friendly, I am ok with the feel of the stick, but at the same time I'm not an expert on arcade sticks, I've tried the stick as both a console and Nintendo Switch, all controls seemed responsive good and I have no complaints. The same goes for the two mini game pads, they feel great, I have never played or use any original Neo Geo CD hardware so the button layout and non clicky thumb stick didn't bother me because it's not something I'm familiar with, but I thought the controllers were great my kids and I have played several games and everything felt responsive and great. Now a warning that is sometimes a deal breaker, regardless if you're new to SNK or Neo Geo, before you get the additional 20 games that are available to unlock, you have unlocked already playable initial roster of 20 games, I will warn you they're all fighting games, obviously depending on you stance on that genre will effect your decision on purchasing this from the console standpoint, now the other 20 games that are unlockable do grab from a few other genres but some of the unlockables are also more fighting games, again just as a warning. So in conclusion I was happy and satisfied with the product as well as who I ordered the product from, I hope this review helps someone.

Overall, I really love this stick. I already have a Neogeo with a bunch of carts. When I saw this and did some research on it, I was sold. While it isn’t as good as playing on the original console, it’s 95% of the way there. A couple Metal Slugs have unexpected frame rate drops on occasion but that’s minor. The 20 included and 20 expandable are a pretty solid lineup. You can expand the library but for that info, you’ll have to do a 2 second search online. The joystick is pretty good for what you are paying. It’s responsive, clicky, and sturdy. The button placement is a bit off but no big deal. My ONLY complaint is, if you bought the full set is that the d pads are not that great. They are comfortable until you have to pull off fighting moves because it feels too mushy and it’s not like your typical joystick you experience from other consoles. Could have been way better. I got 2 for multiplayer. It does what it needs to but not without pain points. Having said that, I’m not holding it against this review because you can get the less expensive set without them. Overall, I love it and recommend it.

This is a great console that I recommend. Though, it is on the pricey side compared to other mini's. I only have two complaints; 1. Why aren't ALL games included? Why just 40 out of err, 115 I think? It's all SNK innit, besides, they have other selection of games for their other mini's, so, they could of just, you know, included EVERYTHING they have the rights for. Also, other than the Metal Slug series, most of the games included are fighting games, so why not include a greater variety? Lets just be clear; many minis aren't actually made by the company that made the console, and in any case, even if they were they still wouldn't hold the rights to most of the games. However, this is SNK, their console, most games are theirs. This actually bugs me a lot, this artificial limit on their games. Like, why? Yeah, I know for instance the Amiga mini only have 25 games, and 40 is more than 25, however, as I just said, that is done by a company that had to negotiate rights. But SNK doesn't, so, it's just like, you know, why, SNK, why!!? 2. The upscaling occasionally causes sprite artifacts, such as blurry hands or the like. But only for some games and only occasionally. You can also change the upscaling settings, to find out what works best for each game, but that is a bit of a hassle. I was very close to giving five stars, but the cost combined with unnecessary greed for not sharing games they probably already have all rights too and can do as they please... come on!

ネオジオミニにやられて、やはりゲーセンでプレイしてた身としてはレバーでしょと購入(笑) 若干レバーが硬い気がするのですが、昔のゲーセンを思えば全然気にならず！ 格ゲーがやりやすくなりました。

Eksiksiz ve sıfır ürün olarak teslim aldım sağlam bir şekilde iyi paketlenmişti. Satıcı mağazayı kesinlikle tavsiye ederim. Ürüne gelecek olursak sağlam bir arcade stick oldukça kaliteli.

Me gusto mucho el producto, tiene buena calidad. Aunque pienso que de habérselo propuesto la compañía estaría mejor sobre todo en el acabado y los botones. Funciona muy bien nada más conectarlo es aventarse al tobogán de los recuerdos. Lo que no me gusto fue que no tiene botón de encendido por lo que siempre tiene que estar conectado a la corriente. Tampoco me gusto que por el precio no hubieran incluido el cable HDM ni el adaptador a la corriente pero bueno . Así es esto . Claro que vale la pena . Trae 20 juegos y ya le descargue dos más . Espero que en futuro la compañía SNK ponga más títulos descargables .

Le produit est bien fait, facile d'accès et présente une offre de 20 jeux inclus avec la possibilité d'en débloquer 20 autres, via le site SNK. Ce qui amène plus de diversité aux jeux car la base est vraiment centrée sur la baston en 2D, avec les 20 titres supplémentaires on accède à (un peu) plus de variété. Un petit point de déception, la partie adhésive des patins anti-dérapants ne tient pas toujours bien, j'ai eu le cas sur deux, j'ai pu en sauver un mais pas l'autre, ce qui fait que pour l'instant sur trois pattes l'objet est un peu bancale. Mais cela doit pouvoir s'arranger.
