The city of Atheia, which Phoney Bone believes has gold, is very grand in its nature, I believe much inspired by Rome. This book mostly builds up the tension for the next book and if there's one thing that could've made this better, I'd say this book could've had more time spent when the protagonists ventured the city. Heck, if there weren't time to fit this all in one book, maybe there could've been another where a character such as Tanael, a fellow outsider of this kingdom, gave a tour of Atheia and told of her time growing up there.
