Perfectly Fits and Operates Like Original - for year 2000 Land Cruiser
[Antenna Review for Year 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser] This is an EXCELLENT Replacement Antenna Mast, it PERFECTLY FITS AND OPERATES just like the original, and the CLEAR AND DETAILED Written Instructions assured a STRAIGHTFORWARD Install (some care and a little patience are required). I rarely write product reviews, but this company deserves high recognition for its Excellent Replacement Powered Antenna, and its helpful Video and Well-Written Instructions, all of which made my installation straightforward. I have a year 2000 Land Cruiser and needed a powered antenna mast to replace my original powered antenna mast that recently lost a battle in a car-wash. The prices Online from any Toyota dealership were much too high, approx $90 - $120, just for the antenna mast itself, excluding the dealership's cost for installation (which in total would have been approx $250). I avoided these exorbitant costs and dealership hassles, by purchasing this $29.99 antenna mast which has the built-in EXACT CORRECT LENGTH plastic-toothed cable which slots into the antenna motor and enables the mast to power up and down. I viewed the good instructional video included on the Amazon product page for this antenna, and I carefully read the VERY well-written instructions provided by this company. With some care in re-reading the instructions and making sure about following each step, the install was straightforward. The written instructions include "Install-Tips" which assure a smooth install process, and which also provide very accurate help if your install is not going right. WHEN YOU'RE REMOVING YOUR OLD BROKEN ANTENNA MAST AND ITS BUILT-IN PLASTIC CABLE, MAKE SURE TO NOTE IF THE TEETH ON THE PLASTIC CABLE ARE FACING FORWARD (towards the front of the suv) OR BACKWARD. Although I did NOT have a helper to turn on-off the radio and to operate the antenna height switch, I did not have difficulty performing this removal and install by myself. The old antenna cable is greasy, so its removal will have you washing your hands and anything you touch. This replacement antenna PERFECTLY FITS AND OPERATES (powers up and down) just like the original Toyota antenna for my year 2000 Land Cruiser. I have VERY little backyard mechanic experience outside of just changing motor oil, but this entire antenna operation was straightforward and took only about 20 minutes. I receive great radio reception, just like the original antenna. I saved $200+ in out-of-pocket costs, and avoided the waiting and inevitable hassles at a dealership.

Perfect fit for 1998 Land Cruiser!
Great antenna replacement. My original antenna cable broke off close to the bottom of the antenna so almost all of the old cable was still down inside of the motor housing. I cleared the old one out by removing the antenna motor and opening the housing. The installation of the new antenna was a breeze. The new antenna was a direct replacement and fit perfectly.

Very impressive replacement part
This is the real deal replacement part. The linear gear (plastic part with the teeth) seemed about 2" shorter than the original from my 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser, but the antenna operates just fine. The teeth should face forward when inserting the antenna for the mechanism to engage and pull it in. Be sure to first compare the old part to the new one to ensure there isn't a piece remaining inside the motor assembly. If so, be prepared to spend an hour or two removing the antenna motor assembly and pulling out the old piece. You can then reassemble and it sucks in the new antenna in a few seconds. My gear was about 18" long on the old one, so I knew I needed to pull the assembly apart. It's not difficult. Needed my drill driver and some 10 mm sockets & wrenches, a flat blade screwdriver to pry some under liner clips off, also a couple large Torx screws were removed. All the large fasteners had to have the plastic anchors removed to free and drop the liner for access. The chrome trim piece at the base of the antenna was removed using a small pair of needle nose pliers and an adjustable wrench. Take some pictures along the way if you like. Basically, drop the wheel well liner, remove a 10mm bolt on the antenna motor assy, the antenna wire clip, unplug the electrical connection -- then maneuver the whole unit down being careful not to stress the antenna wire. Pull several Philips screws out of the round housing, including the center and one that has a hidden nut under a ring terminal. Pry the cover open carefully and remove the old piece. Open a beer. Put it all back carefully. Stick the new antenna in the hole with the teeth facing forward and turn on the radio -- it should get sucked down rather quickly. I didn't need an assistant.

Affordable alternative to OEM part
Broke original mast in a car wash. This replacement was easy to install after I studied videos online posted by other Land Cruiser owners. The hardest part is loosening antenna nut with pinch pliers without scratching paint on fender

Great for the price.
Works perfect on my 2005 LX 470. The old antenna was getting wonky and wouldn't always go up and down all of the way. Gave this a shot. It was super easy to install and reception is good. One thing I noticed is that it's a bit wobbly at highway speeds when extended. Still beats spending money on an entire replacement part w/ the motor. Does the job for a decent price. If it was sturdy at highway speeds I'd have given it 5 stars.

It’s the correct antenna
This is the right antenna for Lx470, easy if your motor still works. Tried a different one the teeth were too small. This is the correct one!
