Applied it to my tiger tank looks and feels like zimmermitt. Need to cut out small openings and pattern with sharp blade otherwise good product

like me built this kit
Tamiya’s mid production Tiger I came out in 1989, and was short on surface detail for the simple reason the mid production Tiger I had a zimmermit coating from the factory. If you, like me built this kit, you did the zimmerit the hard way with epoxy putty. Results varied. With the Tamiya zimmerit, it easier to get the proper effect and scale. The hardest part is cutting the patterns out with a sharp hobby knife and then lining them up properly. The best tools to have are a sharp Exacto knife and a cutting mat. A bit of time and test fitting before removing from the backing are mandatory. Once the backing is removed, work slowly to get the part into position. It’s not super sticky at first and you can pull it off it reposition. After a day or so, it really settles down and holds fast. I personally, run a bit of thin liquid glue along the edges and later a very thin acrylic putty (Vallejo) to seal the deal.

Worked well, takes a bit more work than expected.
Worked quite well. Not too sticky once it comes off the sheet, but hardens up once it's in place. Needed no glue or fancy tricks. Took a star off because you have to cut each hole on each piece with an X-acto blade. Tamiya could have die cut them at least a little bit. Decently priced. Not bad at all if you don't mind 'even' zimmerit patterns.

This set is meant for Tamiya's own 1/35 Tiger Late & Mid kits of late 80's, early 90's but I installed one on DML's Late kit with a little trimming, making a annoying job much easier !
