Great product! I've tried a few other brands and ...
Great product! I've tried a few other brands and they tasted terrible, and/or had an unpleasant stringy texture. I choked them down anyway, but it made me so grateful for this astragalus, as it has a delicious smoky but fresh flavor, and a chewy-crunchy nutty texture. I don't like taking pills, especially when it comes to herbs, so I'm really happy with this one, and will definitely order again. It's great as a tea, mixed into cereals, or to just eat straight out of the bag. Also, I should note, it seems very potent, as when I first started taking it, I noticed a mild herx - sweats, flu-like symptoms of achy muscles and fever and crawly-skin, it definitely felt like something was clearing out of my system for a couple of days. I continued taking it, did not scale back my dosage, and by the third day it was gone and I felt really good. The reason why I started taking Astragalus in first place is as a preventative against contracting Lyme as recommended by Stephen Buhner in his book Healing Lyme and Its Co-infections. I am outdoors a lot in tick-infested areas and my boyfriend has chronic Lyme, so it's definitely a concern for me. Astragalus is a wonderful immune-enhancing herb that can be taken indefinitely, unlike a lot of immune-enhancing herbs, such as Echinacea or Goldenseal that can't be taken every day for long periods of time. This astragalus also has other wonderful and noticeable benefits for hair and skin, and the adrenals - I've noticed an increase in stamina, better mood, healthier hair and skin and more balanced digestion since I've been taking it, so I'd definitely recommend it as a great all-around great adaptogenic herb, and I'm very much hoping it will protect me against Lyme as well.

Astragalus root
It's a supplement thought to have a whole host of health benefits. Look it up because Amazon won't let me post it for some reason. I purchased it to include when making elderberry syrup. This was high quality. Arrived on time, as described, good price. Wasn't moldy or dirty, didn't have an "off" taste. 5 stars would recommend. Will buy again.

Bitter Tasting Immune Modulator 💛
I don't love the strong, bittersweet, earthy taste of this organic Astragalus Root. It's certainly not a taste everyone will enjoy, however, the benefits of this calming adaptogen greatly outweigh any negatives. I usually use only a small amount for every herbal infusion or teabag, whereas I usually use more of herbal flowers and leaves. Oftentimes for thick bark, a decoction seems to work the best, bringing out the medicinal properties as it heats over time. Astragalus is an adaptogen that aids the healthy function of many body systems. It supports the cardiovascular system, liver, and kidneys. It strengthens weak immune system function, prevents infection, and helps with autoimmune disorders, allergies, mononucleosis, respiratory issues, and cancer. It's energetically warming and nourishing and useful for cold, stagnant states. If you get sick a lot, or suffer from many allergies, you have weak immune function, and astragalus can literally change that around with consistent use. Why? Astragalus is considered an immune modulator, which means it balances and strengthens immune system function rather than simply up-regulating or down-regulating it. It essentially challenges the immune system with a healthy threat, which mounts an immune system response. This improves the function of a range of immune cells and pathways and takes attention off allergies and autoimmune disease. The stronger immune cells become more adept at fending off true pathogens like the common cold, as well as dispatching rogue cells that cause cancer. Medicinal mushrooms such as reishi, shiitake, maitake, chaga and turkey tails, along with adaptogens like codonopsis, shisandra, ashwagandha, and holy basil, act similarly, and are also considered immune modulators. Astragalus is an important and possibly vital supplemental herb in the recovery and treatment of various chronic illnesses. It helps out your whole body, and everyone could afford to use some prevention methods rather than simply reacting every time an illness occurs. Because I find the earthy taste a bit too strong, I personally prefer this herb in powder form. That way i can create capsules and take a dose every day without worrying about the taste. The problem is, when it's blended with other herbs, its potent taste and smell usually overtake that of all the other herbs. I would recommend starting with a small dose, less than 1 tsp., for your first cup. This may help you get used to the flavor and smell. I like Starwest's products and would recommend this Astragalus- as long as you know that it has a strong taste and smell to it. But like I said, the immense health benefits will always outweigh any perceived negatives, especially if you're dealing with a chronic health condition. Be well!💛

I add this to broths and soups. We have not got sick since we've been using this. It adds a unique flavor that we enjoy. It's a little bitter so we squeeze some lemon or lime and it balances out.
