This was a brand i was recommended by a friend as a low volume home office printer / scanner and i was very lucky to spot an offer on Amazon Prime day, the price was just fantastic and allowed me to grab a full set of additional toners and still be under the regular price so im really happy. It has the wireless print capability, it will connect to apple devices such as iphones, laptops are very easy to do as well, the unit has a simple control panel and a small display window, if you are fairly familiar with printers and basic tech, then this will just take 10-15 mins to get your printer connected to your wifi and the drivers loaded to your computer so that it will offer you all the services available. My printer has been connected via the supplied cable to a Mac Mini, sailed through with all the steps and the packaging. Excellent quality of printing, not the largest paper holding tray, but im okay with that. The print queue is easy to find if you are experiencing any print delays or issues, mine is left on all day and night in a home office and doesnt make any noises, so its all good. The scanner is easy enough to access and with this type of equipment, just making sure you know where the scans are being stored is helpful. I think it has fax facilities as well, but i have no requirement for that so it hasnt been set up or used. Overall the size is relative to what a laser printer can be today, i remember black and white ones when they first came out, two people to carry them and they were very big. This colour printer has a small enough footprint to be practical and not too large. I did check the measurements before i bought it to make sure it would fit in the space i had in mind. Overall, really good piece of kit and the consumables are not expensive either.

The HP LaserJet 179fnw has been a major letdown, mainly due to its incredibly slow performance. Printing, scanning, and even simple tasks take far longer than expected, making it frustrating to use, especially in a busy home or office setting. The print speed is far slower than advertised, and colour prints take an eternity to come out. Even when printing basic documents, there is a noticeable delay before the printer even starts. Scanning is no better, with the automatic document feeder being sluggish and prone to misfeeds. Connectivity is another issue—the wireless function is unreliable, often disconnecting or failing to find the printer on the network. The control panel is also quite basic and not very intuitive to navigate. For a laser printer, I expected much better speed and efficiency. Unfortunately, this model is too slow to be practical, and I regret purchasing it. I would not recommend it to anyone who needs a reliable and fast multifunction printer.

I am on the fence with this one. I bought this as a replacement printer for my broken laser printer. I did actually buy an inkjet with a high printing resolution, and whilst that is good, the quality does not match that of a laser on matt paper. So, I decided to buy this one instead, especially as it says it does automatic double sided (duplex) printing, which is a function I use all the time. Unfortunately, the description was misleading: this DOES NOT do automatic duplex printing - you have to manually re-insert the paper to print on the reverse side. I am happy with the print quality - especially on matt paper where the colours are more vibrant than that of my inkjet (see photo - inkjet print is on the left, laser print on the right). My only other gripe is for when printing onto small sized paper. I often print onto A6 - you can see the paper in the paper tray. Whilst the left and right guides move inwards to hold the paper, the guide for the length of the paper doesn't move in far enough so I often get an error message saying the tray is out of paper and this is because the paper has moved after inserting the paper tray. A further issue on this is that when the A6 paper has been printed, you have to lift up the dark grey control panel section, otherwise you won't be able to stick your hand in beneath it to retrieve the print out.

I am finding this printer so easy to use. I unpacked it, loaded in the paper, attached it to my wifi using the 'smart button', told my Apple Mac to use this printer and it worked like a dream. I takes a bit of time to 'prime' the cartridges when you first turn it on but the printing is almost silent (I am used to the clank and whir of an inkjet printer) and the print quality, even on normal mode is superb. The only downside is the cost of the replacement toner cartridges - but if you set aside a budget for these it shouldn't be a problem.

Good quality, fast printing, not as loud as advertised. I did however searched for an A3 when bought and this one was among them so slightly disappointed that is not A3, but it could just be me misreading the description.

Utter Junk. DO NOT BUY. It spits out gobbdygook rather than what you need to print. It doesn't print double sided and has a problem if you try to refeed paper to print double sided. Totally unreliable and takes over 30 mins and half a ream of paper to complete 3 pages. I always trusted HP products but this is ruubish.

Just like the business printers in the office but much more compact. Print quality is excellent. The display is small but adequate. It works with the generic driver built into my old iMac with an obsolete operating system and there are drivers for all the operating systems supported by Apple®. There's no bottom to the casing under the paper tray so you do need to put this on a flat surface or you won't be able to slide the paper tray in easily and could damage it. The paper tray is probably the least robust component so I think some care is needed loading paper and sliding it in and out. Slightly odd that the paper tray, with it's clear plastic cover, just hangs 10cm, or so, out of the printer. Searched everywhere to set up duplex printing then noticed in the manual that I downloaded that it's only supported for Windows. There's no paper bypass feed to feed in thick card. Being a laser printer there's nothing to clog up if it's not used regularly which is why it should be great for me.

Great product

Da Tintenstrahler wenig Seiten pro Farbpatrone erlauben und die Patronen unfassbar teuer geworden sind, haben wir uns für einen Laser entschieden. Außerdem läuft man als Wenig-Drucker nicht Gefahr, dass die Tinte eintrocknet. Bei uns halten Laser-Toner eher Jahre als Monate. Die Eineichtung lief einwandfrei. Schnell mit dem Wifi verbunden und schon konnten sämtliche PCs, Handys und Tablets drucken. Genial finde ich, dass Scans direkt per Email versendet werden können, wodurch sie auf „jedem Gerät“ verfügbar gemacht werden können, oder direkt in der Cloud. Wer hauptsächlich Fotos druckt, sollte zu einem darauf spezialisierten Gerät greifen, hier haben wir eher ein (Home-)Office Modell, welches vieles kann, aber kein Experte in Einzeldisziplinen ist. Die Bedienung am Gerät ist relativ intuitiv, wenn man mit IT-Equipment bereits Erfahrung hat. Über die sendenden Geräte lassen sich die üblichen Drucker-Einstellungen vornehmen. Natürlich funktioniert auf dem PC nur alles, wenn man das bekannte, ungeliebte Hersteller-Software-Paket mit einigem Speicherbedarf installiert. Speicher ist heute nicht mehr so kritisch wie früher, klar, trotzdem fragt man sich, warum es mehrere hundert Megabyte Bedarf um Drucke-Scans zum machen(?), mehr kann es ja nicht. Aber da schlagen halt die welt-abdeckenden Bibliotheken für Sprachen, Zeichen, Symbol usw zu Buche. Früher konnte man das noch auswählen. Da es Standard ist, kann es aber nicht die Bewertung beeinflussen. Die Drucklautstärke ist sehr verträglich und es entstehen keine unangenehmen Gerüche. Trotzdem sollte man, wie bei jedem Laserdrucker, Abstand zum Arbeitsplatz halten. Feinstaub und „Feindampf“ ist unsichtbar und kann unverträglich sein. Was stört: Dass die Papierkassette, sobald sie beladen wird, vorne herausguckt. Außerdem ist nur für wenig Papier Platz. Mich hätte es nicht gestört, wenn das Gerät 1.5cm höher gebaut wäre, dafür aber die Papierkassette im Gerät bliebe und mehr Ladevolumen hätte. Ich weiß aber nicht, ob es Nutzer gibt, die das Gerät unter Regale stellen o.ä..; meiner Ansicht nach Unsinn, da man für Bücher auch mal den Scanner-Deckel öffnen muss. Aber vielleicht gehören auch Schneewittchen und die 7 Zwerge zu den Hauptnutzern und sind natürlich sensibel was Gerätehöhe angeht :-) Bzgl. der Kern-Funktionen ist das Gerät sehr empfehlenswert und passt beim Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis.
