SureFire Helmet Light, 3V, 1.4-19.2 LU, IR/WH/IR LEDs, Tan

What a deal! Literally got this light half off retail, so thanks for existing Amazon. Light clamps on nicely to my MICH helmet and performs as described. NOTE: At first, I thought it was broken as it strobed and flickered when I turned it on or played with the brightness settings, but it turned out to be because the battery this item was shipped with had been drained to 2.80 volts and could no longer do its job. The three white light settings go from barely noticeable outside of pitch black environment to a brightness comparable to a handheld flashlight, with the medium setting making Goldilocks proud. The IR light is why I got this though, and I couldn't be happier with it. The three settings are as described with the white light above, but only you and anyone else with NVG's on can see it. Took my rig into a room with relatively zero ambient light to the point where my NVG's could barely pick up a chair 5 feet in front of me, turned on the Surefire IR and the room lit up like a Christmas tree. Took my goggles off for good measure to see how dark it was and there was zero residual visible light coming from the mount and I was indeed standing alone in the middle of absolute darkness. Spooky. Last note on the IR, the IFF is obnoxiously bright. That being kind of the point though, it works and it works well. This thing is good to go, even if it might be more than a little power hungry, but that seems to be the trend with Surefire lights. I just really wish they'd engineer something like this that used AA batteries. Just make sure to throw a 12 pack of spares in your backpack if you plan on being gone for more than a couple hours with this thing and you'll be set.

Unit fulfilled my needs, except for one thing (which is my fault for not reading better) this is the function 1- White light function 2- IR flood light I had intended to purchase the 2nd function RED visibl light unit. otherwise, the unit is superb.

This helmet light is very useful for navigation and map reading, and it seems to run forever on a single CR123A battery. Having hands-free illumination, both visible and invisible (IR), at just the flip of a switch, is incredibly useful to have when working in the dark. I used this for rescue work during Hurricane Sandy and it performed admirably.

The mount is very unstable and unlike surefires normal high standards. Had to purchase a 3rd mount.

This item is great. If you have a rail helmet, you will need to order a rail mount for it. Buttons are small which will require practice with tactical gloves.

great light well made and very durable. I would like to see an additional light option, red light in addition to IR plus black color instead of just desert tan. only comes with one attachment option, picatinny rail mount would have been nice.
