Love Love this raw meal
I just received this today, and was very excited to try it right away. I'm glad it arrived when it did because I had not eaten lunch yet and was in the mist of cleaning and doing my hair. So I decided to go head and have it as a snack until I was ready to eat. Anyway when I open the container I was a little disappointed that it was not full. If you look at the pic I took this is the amount that was in there when I opened it. This is why I'm giving it four stars. The taste wasn't bad, but I only had vanilla almond milk at the time to try it with. I would not recommend using this it makes it have a very sweet weird taste, plus you want to stay away from added sugar anyway. But I was not ready to try it with water yet. But I will try it again with the original unsweetened almond milk which I really think it will taste great. Overall so far I like it and have tried a lot of other shakes but this one is at the top, solely because its ingredients are all natural. The taste isnt the best but you can't expect it to be that tasteful without sugar. Also I used my smaller blender bottle to mix it, and it mixes very easily. I also read reviews about it getting very thick after a few mins so I drunk it fast. **UPDATE** It's been about two weeks or almost two weeks since I brought this. And I'm glad I did, I have actually gotten use to the taste (in fact I actually crave this stuff now) and its really good. The taste reminds me of a thick chocolate milk shake. It was never as bad as most people made it seem, so I guess I prepared myself for the worst which i think made it not taste so bad. I'm trying to eat bigger meals during the day and smaller meals at night. So I usually am drinking this for dinner. It says to use 8oz of water or almond milk/ rice milk and one scoop of the raw meal for a snack. And 16oz of liquid and two scoops of raw meal for a meal but I usually use my 12oz blender bottle just because I drink it faster this way. So I use 12oz of liquid (almond milk plain) and 11/2 scoops of raw meal. This last all night for me and I give myself a 12hr period of no eating and I'm still satisfied until its time for breakfast the next morning. I havent tried putting in any extra yet, cause i havent had the time to. So im glad it still taste great without having to add extras saves me alot of time, i just shake, gulp it down and go. I really believe this is one of the best meal replacements on the market today, I have tried many and never like the taste or didnt feel completely satisfied from them. And the best part is your getting so much nutrition from it. Please buy and try it your self. I'm excited to try the vanilla spiced chia next. Oh and l still haven't tried it with just water and I don't think I ever will. And I have given it fives stars now just because I love it so much and will continue to buy.

Truly filling
I am in the middle of a 21-day fitness routine that heavily advertises shakes as part of the program. I'm am *not* a fan of drinking my calories, because I find that generally unsatisfying. I am treated for several medical conditions, and choosing a shake that won't exacerbate them is crucial. I needed a dairy-free product with minimal sugar. I also needed as much protein as feasible. I bought this shake after reading the nutritional information, ingredients, and a few reviews. I also ordered a shaker bottle to go with it. Then I waited excitedly for them to arrive...until I started reading some of the negative reviews. When my jar arrived, I checked the expiration date (trying to avoid rancid or expired product) and found it was 22 months out. I used one scoop and 12 oz. of water. Then I remembered someone had said it got too thick quickly, and added some extra water. Big mistake. It was like drinking chocolate water. I should have added more powder, but that didn't occur to me. It was not the least bit sweet (not like Ensure shakes I have tried) and was a bit gritty. As I got to the bottom, I found that a lot of the powder had fallen out of the suspension, leaving a chewy mess for my last few gulps. In the past week, however, I have learned several tricks. First, use only 12 ounces of very cold water. Shake well, and add 3 or 4 ice cubes. This helps keep the shake cool, and also provides a little more liquid to thin out the end of the shake. Secondly, shake early, shake often. It falls out of suspension very quickly, and is tastiest when well-blended. A single "snack" scoop keeps me full from 8:00am until lunch at 11:30 or noon. I drink lots of extra water during the day. My digestive system seems to be adjusting nicely, and I haven't had any issues. And I've been able to remove dairy from my diet, which has made a big difference. I will definitely be buying this again.

You can mask the flavor with chocolate almond milk
The short version: After reading the reviews, I was prepared for the taste. It really does taste like lightly chocolate flavored liquid dirt with a chemical sweetener aftertaste. Not horrible, but not pleasant. If the taste gets to you, try mixing it with Silk Dark Chocolate Almond Milk. Much better price than Shakeology Vegan chocolate. The long version: I am an overweight but relatively healthy woman and I wanted to make a small change to help reduce my calorie intake. Instead of constantly getting Jimmy John's or some other lunch while I'm at work, I decided to go to a meal replacement shake 4 days a week. I have a severe milk allergy so I did research comparing only vegan options and in the end I decided to give Garden of Life a try. I read the reviews about the gritty texture and dubious taste and from a past experience with another brand I knew what to expect. It is exactly what the reviews tell you it is. It's gritty, there's a sandy texture that doesn't go away, there's a chemical stevia aftertaste, and it thickens the longer you let it sit. I have the snack size version (1 scoop with 8 oz water mixed in a blender whisk bottle) and 1cup broccoli 'slaw' salad with vinegrette at lunch and it keeps me fairly full until about 3:30 when I have a light 100 cal snack. Overall I've been pretty impressed that it keeps me as full as it does. I've done this for about two weeks now and I feel pretty good except I still think the drink tastes like dirt. Today I had some chocolate almond milk in the fridge and decided to give that a try. It's delicious! There's still a somewhat gritty texture and it does thicken up the almond milk a little, but overall it's a much better texture and the flavor is downright decadent. It also adds 100 calories and a whopping 17g sugar though, so if you're counting make sure to account for that. If you're looking for a vegan meal shake and you're put off by shakeology's pyramid scam, give this a try.

Great ingredients and taste (love it with coconut water)
I use coconut water and mix it with my ninja smoothie blender to make sure it’s mixed well. The coconut water gives it a wonderful refreshing taste compared to water. Has so many good healthy ingredients with many great benefits. The taste really isn’t bad at all, it’s chocolate flavor is bold and I would never guess theres so many greens in it. This was my life saver after my dental implant procedure!

Fortunately, there's no debate whether I'll try to use the remainder.
This may be the vilest substance known to man, and I'm not willing to search for other contenders. First, let me tell you that I was raised in a taste-stoic family, such that we still joke that we kids would have eaten a raw dog turd if it was put on a plate and called dinner. "I don't like it" was not allowed, or you had to eat more of it. I was ready for this raw meal stuff to taste bad, thinking other reviewers were perhaps just being pansies. NOT SO!!! An adequate description of the aggregate esthetic of this would have to go WAY beyond the domain of the word "bad" and any of its nearby cousins. Granted, I did register a crap-tastic taste, but the texture of this nasty concoction hit me first, hardest, and worst. By way of real-life comparitors, I'm used to the fibrous texture of the good-old-days Metamucil, and though I don't like it, I can tolerate it for a good cause. I know what "gritty" is, as the product was described by another review, but this was NOT simply the texture of a sandy suspension. Upon introducing this liquid evil into my alimentary orifice, I was immediately and forcibly hit with an instinctive, overwhelming impression that someone had tried to feed me a slurry of rough sawdust so thick that it was threatening my airway. Nothing consumed me but the singular, urgent compulsion to spew this dark embodiment of horror back out (a first-time action in my entire 44 years' existence). As the nearest liquid-capable container was the tub from which this vile, alien garbage came, I deposited it right back there, thinking in that split second, "No loss; I'll never try that again!" This was followed by a harsh, throat-clearing sound to try and force the mucky, fibrous residue from my larynx, another near-clearing spit, a run to the closest bathroom to flush and gargle with water, and the desperate use of a paper towel to somehow wipe the residue from my upper throat and tongue. This stuff may have great hype, but I can't seriously believe that anyone honestly and truly meant it for ingestion -- and certainly not for repeated ingestion! It ranks up there with the time my older brother poured dirt into my mouth (I was 3). The previous reviewer's description of elephant dung was hilarious, but let me tell you: I felt that reviewer's pain. A week later, I still find myself debating whether I'd be able to down this $#!+ in order to immediately escape a painful death. I might try, but it might yield the same outcome. Fortunately, the debate is moot. Just enjoy your fresh fruits and vegetables, and don't muck around trying to convince yourself that this malignant ooze is easier, quicker and more convenient than several small, healthy meals. Nothing is worth that. There really IS no substitute or easy way. I just learned that the expensive way, and I hope the belabored, graphic description keeps you from doing the same.

Decent meal supplement for way less than Shakeology
This is a decent meal supplement. I've been using Shakeology by BeachBody, which I love but is very expensive. This product is not as good, and I wouldn't say that fully it's comparable, but it's decent and I like it. - I blend it with a serving of peanut butter, almond milk, a banana and ice, and it tastes pretty good. It does NOT taste like a chocolate milk shake and I didn't expect it to! It's a bit chalky, but I'm fine with that. It is not something I would toss in a blender ball cup and shake up with milk. It has Stevia, so it has a bit of an after flavor, but I find the banana and peanut butter (sometimes yogurt as well) helps with that. Shakeology had the same issue, by the way, and doesn't taste much better. It isn't as tasty as the whey protein powders you get at Costco (Muscle Milk), either. It's a little weird, but good enough for lunch. - I have to use two scoops of this to supplement lunch, as opposed to the one I used for Shakeology. Don't know why. I don't stay as full and it doesn't satisfy my sweets cravings as much, either. It also doesn't fluff up as much. It's also quite a bit less expensive, so there is that. - The powder doesn't fill the container. It's like a potato chip bag - half empty. - I see small strange orange streaks in my shake. I don't know what that is, but it doesn't really concern me. I might buy this again, but I'll try another type of meal supplement first and see if there is something better out there.

Wow, this stuff is the shizzle. LOVE the chocolate especially!
Keep in mind I am NOT a health nut or vegan or vegetarian or anything like that. In fact i'm a fat white guy who's enjoyed way too much whataburger over the years and needs to make a change. I've replaced 2 meals (breakfast and lunch) per day for about a week so far with this stuff exclusively and i'm VERY happy with it. So that's where i'm coming from. Your mileage may vary. Taste: ok, to the reviewer who said this stuff tastes like elephant dung with sand.... dude, if elephant dung with sand actually tasted like this I might be following some animals around at the zoo after feeding time. I've only tasted the vanilla and carob / chocolate so far and the vanilla is so/so but the carob is REALLY good. Like insanely good. It's like ground up chocolate chip cookies in a milk shake if you mix with soy milk or something similar. Don't get me wrong, the vanilla is very drinkable, but pales in comparison to the carob. I actually find myself looking forward to making the carob shakes. Dosage / Hunger: ok... i've made ONE shake per the directions and wow.... that was a little much. The scoops are huge and they want you to put TWO of them in 16 oz of milk. Flavor is fine on that, but it's like drinking oatmeal, which is fine if that's a thing you're into but not me. I do 2 scoops in close to 24 - 36 oz of milk and that's much more where I want to be consistency wise. That's my happy medium. That dosage also works out fairly well for a blender bottle which is what I use (the bottles with the wire wisk balls in them that you manually shake up). If you're going to do 2 scoops in 16 oz I highly recommend an actual blender and some patience cause it's thick... oh so tasty but thick. I have NOT by any means been hungry on this stuff at ALL. In fact. i'm less hungry than my normal diet. I could easily replace 3 meals a day with this stuff and not feel deprived or hungry, If you saw my normal diet for the last two years you'd appreciate what an endorsement that statement is, trust me. :) that's how awesome this stuff is. The only reason i'm not doing that yet at this point is because i don't want to go to a straight liquid diet right off the bat. I'd like to give my body some time to adjust, though honestly i may consider that as an option 3-4 days a week as serious weight loss is my goal. I get no gastrointestinal distress at all and no gas or bloating like i have with other stuff like slimfast and herbalife. Slimfast in particular for me is pretty brutal coming out the other end. I dont get that at all with this stuff. I'm considering doing up to 36 oz with 2 scoops and then added a small scoop of supergreen on top of that for the added nutrition / minerals in supergreen. I think the flavor and consistency of this stuff would easily hide well i this, which has always been a problem with supergreen for me in the past. I've got the small tubs of these thus far. I think my next order will be a large chocolate tub + a small chai vanilla to check out that flavor. Will update the review over time.

Definitely worth it - nutritious and delicious
I've spent a lot of money trying different protein powders and powdered green drink and supplements, and in all that, I can say that I pretty much know what I'm looking for when I buy something. I wanted to try this because I liked that it combined the plant protein, with superfoods, and probiotics, which are all items that I've purchased separately. I don't usually buy meal replacement powders or shakes, so I wasn't as concerned with how full it would leave me between meals, yet it managed to deliver in every way! This protein powder is different from the others I've tried, taste wise. A lot of people mention an "after taste" with the chocolate flavor, but I wouldn't call it that because I was expecting some weird sugary after taste, which it's more of a slight, not overpowering grassy taste because it's a plant based protein powder. I've tried A LOT of different protein powders from Milk Muscle, which isn't very filling or nutritious to me, to Quest, which has that really sugary sweet after taste that I can't stand too much of, and Herbalife, which is good overall, but kinda of pricey. Chocolate is my go to flavor no matter what, and this is still fine, it just doesn't taste like a ice cream shake or anything to that degree. As for the quality of the protein powder and it's benefits, it is REALLY good. I've tried some powders which have left me feeling sick, and whatever type of sugar or substance would make my stomach upset, but I had no side effects with this powder. The fiber content is definitely there which impressed me the most. I used one scoop of powder, a handful of spinach and frozen mixed berries. I wanted to get that rich chocolate flavor, so I used half water/chocolate almond milk for my liquid base, and couple of ice cubes. It was the perfect consistency, gave me great energy and was pretty satisfying! I love chai and plan to try it next, maybe mix it with the chocolate to see what happens. If you are looking for a protein powder which doesn't disappoint in flavor, gives you a lot of healthy and nutritious benefits which keep your body satisfied, this is it! Definitely worth the purchase and I feel like I made an investment in my health.
