Sylvanian Families Elephant Family - dollhouse playset 5376

I am buying these as an adult to help me learn perspective drawing for chibi like characters in stories and for art. They are GREAT, I am really pleased with the quality. The joints are a little stiff at first but be gentle with them and with a little use they become easier to move. They are plastic figures with a flock coating, so they feel fuzzy to the touch. They ARE POSABLE and have articulation points at; shoulders, hips and head. The arms and legs can go forwards and backwards so you can sit them down or stand them up, bear in mind they are quite large in the heads so are top heavy so u need to lean them on something for a walking pose. The heads can look left right and straight ahead and any angle between that. but there is no option for up and down. I had wondered if the legs would move as one but they are able to move seperatly. I bought them as I wanted to draw chibi style characters for art but not pay a fortune on actual chibi figurines as not sure if they are posable. so these Sylvanian characters have been perfect for me. I have no children so can't comment on how a child would find them. I saw another reviewer rate them low because they don't DO anything, which was sad as its completely missing the point of this toy. This is analogue, its whole idea is to stimulate imagination, creativity, the user moves and poses the figure and imagines the story around that. As a learning toy you could encourage older kids to draw or write their stories down, so again room to grow and move with the only limit being imagination. There seems to be a wide range of accessories should you want to have a house for your Sylvanian family to live in, some have extra children you can buy and I like that some of the houses are stackable so rather than having to find a three figure sum for a large house, you could get sections and gradually build your Sylvanian world should you choose to do so. I used to make my own backgrounds from the backs of cereal packets but should you or your youngsters crave computer input Im sure there are backgrounds you could purchase and with the wide selection of homes n houses/shops you can buy for the characters I have seen people create stop motion projects with these on You Tube so what starts as off line could grow with age and skill sets. I can totally see how collectable these are, as they are so adorable. So if you have someone into them, Christmas and birthday gifts would be sorted for years. There is an age appropriate listing as they are toys but for anyone older looking for characters for story telling, the fact these are posable makes them a great starting point for those ideas. I'm enjoying them and off to buy more. There are collectors of all ages so if you are older than the age listed for them, just go for it, you only live once. Hope the information about posability helps people, I wanted to know that before I purchased and didn't find detailed information on that but here it is for anyone else curious. Have fun, fun matters, its great for relieving stress.

Product came exactly as described. The characters are cute, the clothes are adorable, and they make a wonderful addition to my collection.

Ici on adore les sylvanian ! J'en avais déjà petite , je suis tellement heureuse de pouvoir en offrir à ma fille à mon tour. C'est plutôt diff de trouver une famille éléphant en magasin , alors merci amazon de me simplifier la vie ! Ils ne sont que 3 dans la boîte mais ils sont vraiment adorable !!!
