Have taken 1 capsule daily in mornings for over a week. Reason for taking: Although not yet proven, I thought it probably would not hurt and may help offset the anticholinergic effects of allergy meds I have taken for years. The main thing I noticed and did not expect was my energy levels & mental focus are both greatly improved, but the flip side is I have been having difficulty getting to sleep and my deep sleep cycle has been reduced dramatically, I am also sleeping much less than usual. My daytime energy has still been ok though, but after a week on this stuff the lack of sleep is getting to me. I have energy, but getting tired from the lack of sleep. It is hard to explain.To be fair, my husband has been coughing a lot through the night with a cold, but I normally can sleep through some noise, and (more significantly) I am still waking up even when he is quiet & my mind just goes nonstop. My conclusion is that this stuff is too stimulating for me. I stopped taking today and energy dropped like a rock and now I am fighting taking a nap. I need to see if I sleep better tonight. If I am correct & after stopping these I can catch up on sleep then I may try a 1/2 capsule daily, or maybe every other day or so.Overall I think it is a good and probably effective product (I mean how do we really know what it is doing to our brains!?) I bought this particular supplement for both my mother and I because pharmaceutical grade means that there are less fillers, and the product is more "pure". My mother gets 1200 mg per day because she has dementia, and this is the effective dose used in studies. For her, this is split into two. So she gets 600 mg twice a day. I take 600 mg once a day. Almost immediately, I noticed an increase in energy and I felt more mentally in-tune.After a couple of weeks, I noticed that this effect was going away and I actually was feeling more tired than before. With some research, I found out that Uridine should also be taken with Alpha-GPC as a choline regulator. So I bought the Uridine in this brand, and started taking 300 mg per day. That did it. The energy came back, and I am feeling really good. My mother is getting 300 mg twice a day of the Uridine. These supplements should be taken in conjunction with an Omega-3 supplement for effectiveness.UPDATE 11/22/16I have changed the supplements for my mother and myself so that we are both taking multi-supplements that include most of the individual ones we were taking. Although I continued use of Alpha GPC and Uridine for my mother, I stopped taking them. I started feeling tired all the time, and my level of ambition dropped dramatically. I went on like this for a few months, and then started wondering why I felt tired so much when my sleep patterns hadn't change and my stress level in taking care of my mother was the same. One day, I decided to try taking Alpha GPC and Uridine again (2 Alpha GPC and 1 Uridine daily). Within a couple of days, my energy level increased and I feel more awake. This also seemed to improve my emotional state because I feel better.
