Good book, written by a British author
My son is 8 and enjoys books about History and war. I bought this when he requested to read a book together about WWII. As an American, I have always learned about predominantly the US involvement in the war and the history from our country’s perspective. This book focuses on the history of Great Britain in WWII. Good book and have enjoyed it bc I have learned new things. Will probably buy another book that concentrates more on the US involvement in WWII next.

Not just for children
I purchased this for my elementary school age grandchildren because they have traveled to Europe where much of this took place. While they don’t quite see the importance of learning history yet, the pictures make it easier to imagine what it must have been like. I think it is a book they will remember and appreciate more when they reach this topic in their formal education. The history buffs in the family were impressed with the books brief, but thorough coverage. I also recommend The Story of the First World War.

This book series is fab, my 7 year old loves them. We have this one, and one on WWI and the Titanic. They’re beautifully illustrated and presented with little boxes of information, enabling you to dip in and out of them without being overwhelmed by too much text. I would say these books would be good for anyone in KS2, although younger children will also enjoy them with a bit of adult help - my 5 year old little girl certainly does!

Bought this for my 7 year old grandson he loves you reading the stories to him, as he gets older he will read it himself. When discussing remembrance at school, his teacher was impressed at his knowledge. Very interesting for an adult to read very educating.
