I got my 3/4 D-Ring
D-ring shackles are a necessity for any off-road activities.I bought a pair of the 3/4” D-Rings for my 2011 Land Rover LR4 and a regular tow strap with 30,000 lb tow strap just incase I need to get out trouble or get someone else out of trouble.Just to be clear, tow straps and recovery straps are completely different things. Tow is meant to simply tow from point A to point B without additional kinetic force. Recovery straps are meant to use kinetic force, meaning, the straps will stretch and spring back to its original shape and/or form. In either situation, these D-Rings combined with a 30,000 tow or recovery strap will be good enough to get most trucks out of most situations.Basically, these D-Rings won’t be your weakest link. Your entire recovery system should NEVER have a weak link. Just imagine how dangerous it would be if you undersized the D-Ring snaps when your recovery strap pulls at full force. The kinetic energy coming back is at least 3x the initial force. Meaning there’s going to be broken windows or worst a D-Ring to someone. Spec out the right D-Ring for your needs is important. For what I need the 3/4 is more than enough. With that said, these are hefty and well made. The green powder coated pin does chip and it’s not really a concern as it’s just cosmetic, but the green pin is pretty.
