Works to run MAC OS X externally on iMac for ssd ugprade
Didnt feel like opening up a 27 inch late 2013 imac so I used this and a cheap msata ssd and its running os x smooth. Dont use it for much besides web browsing, worked right off the bat. Heads up MAC OS X supports running from an external drives, Windows does not really.

Works great!... but...
I got this item to recover data off an mSata drive from a friend, as I had nothing else that I could plug this thing into. As soon as I received it, I plugged my mSata drive in, screwed down one of the corner mounts, and it immediately broke off. The solder weld didn't hold, and one of the screw posts fell out. Thankfully this device has 2 screw mounts, so I am still able to use the other one until I can solder the broken one back on. While this item works as intended, worked flawlessly and I had no issues with recovering data off my mSata drive, I have to knock a star for durability right out of the package. Thankfully it's an easy fix, just a dot of solder or even some super glue will be all that's needed to repair the screw post.

GETS REAL HOT
Just FYI this thing is gonna get HOT! If you need to transfer much it's going to crazy during the transfer. I used it for grabbing specific files from a dying laptop and it was cheap so it got the job done. But understand what you're buying. I can't knock any stars off because you get precisely what you pay for.

easy way to image drives and store them - handy litte unit
Great for imaging smaller drives for storage or multiple installations. Use this for specialized older dell laptops. when I need to build a new unit I just pop an msata ssd into this thing. Plug it into my master image store and write out the image to the ssd over the usb bus. In less than 10 minutes, I've got the drive ready for installation, and no cables or adapters to have to fuss with. This would also be great for creating backups of audio recordings if you don't care for micro sd cards. The Msata are large enough to label properly with enough information to make it easy to put hands on when you need it. The micro sd are so small, its all I can do to get a 3 digit reference number on it. A very handy USB msata device, want to try it in a raspberry pi next, could be a great boot device for a pi4.

Funciona perfectamente
ASMEDIA ASM225CM. Todo sigue bien.

Fast, functional, not for beginners
Assembling this thing is no picnic for somebody with big clumsy hands. It comes with two tiny (I think #2-56) screws and god help you if you loose them. The little PH1 screwdriver it comes with is technically usable, but I recommend using a proper driver with a magnetic bit holder if you've got one. Once the mSATA drive is installed, one still needs to be careful about handling the device: It's just bare PCB with a USB-A connector on one end. I've been gripping it by the edges of the board to connect and disconnect it, which seems to work. On the plus side, I/O performance is excellent. I was able to get sustained transfer speeds of just over 400MB/sec using an old 120GB mSATA drive, and I think that's pretty-near the maximum speed you can get on a USB 3.0 port. If I end up using this adapter regularly, I will probably try to make a 3D-printed case of some sort for it: It needs something to prevent accidental short-circuits and (hopefully) to allow an mSATA module to clip in without needing to deal with those darn screws.

works
I needed an adapter for a client's laptop drive. I have only ever seen one other laptop using a drive like this. The adapter worked perfectly. The only thing that would make it better is if it had a cover that would open to mount the drive, and then you would close it so the electronics were not exposed, but that is not necessary for pure function. Recommended if needed.
