BEST Tank Sealer
POR15 products need no introducing . This can easily did my 2 gallon Motocycle tank, you'll need to strip and fully de rust the tank first or IT WON'T WORK . Needs serious mixing, the bottom of the can was the separated out part, I tried shaking it a while to no avail so I used an old CLEAN large flat bladed screwdriver to slowly turn and turn it until the colors were fully mixed, takes a goodly long while . Once opened the stuff needs to be used soon so DO NOT OPEN THE CAN UNTIL THE TANK IS DE RUSTED AND YOU'RE READY . I used a medium sized plastic funnel to pour it in then I capped the tank and began rotating it to ensure the mix flows into every corner and crevice ~ this is not a job you can rush . After making sure it had fully coated the inside of the tank I cleaned up the stirring screwdriver and funnel, it's easy to do if the stuff is still wet, once it dries it's *PERMANENT* so watch there you're working as it WILL NOT COME OFF EVER . floor, driveway, clothes, etc. . if the tank you're working on has any pinholes, be sure to tape them up first, this stuff is amazing and plugs BB sized pin holes easily . Don't forget to follow the instructions to the letter and remember to keep tuning and tipping the tank so the mix covers all crevices and the inside of the top too . I polish then wax the tank first so any droplets I might spill are easy to wipe off right away . I also tape around the filler neck with blue painter's tape because I'm extra cautious . I used this product in a 'Hail Mary' to save a 40 year old badly rusted and leaky Motocycle tank, I hope in time I'll find another but fr now it works fine, the ethanol laced fuel doesn't seem to bother it . I imagine I could have done up to a 5 gallon tank . -Nate

Working great so far, I recommend this product
I used this tiny can for a small very rusty flaky gas tank on my 30 year old Mclane edger that kept plugging up the carburetor. I didn't purchase the recommended cleaner or metal prep. I used a bottle of rustoleum rust stripper and a bunch of nuts and bolts to clean the inside of the metal gas tank. Then I rinsed it with water and let it completely dry. After a couple of days of drying it had formed a thin layer of rust, but as I read, a little rust is good for por-15 work. Por-15 runs like watery paint and coats metal, creating a protective hard layer, preventing metal from oxidation. I think there are 4 main colors of por-15. The container I bought says gray on the label, but it actually is a metallic silver color. I am ok with any color since its inside a gas tank. I followed the directions, and poured a half a cup in, sealed all the holes, and shook it for several minutes to coat all the surfaces inside. Then I emptied the excess back into the por-15 can. I let it dry for a half hour and used a tissue to carefully soak up the excess in the fuel tank without wiping away the newly created layer. (Use latex gloves or other). I waited a while for it to become a hard but slightly tacky surface before I created a second coat. But not too soon to trap the curing process of the first layer. Then several days later after the 2 coat curing process had finished, and most of the smell subsided, I was able to reassemble the machine and give it a test. You can make 1 layer or several layers. I chose 2. The por-15 can is small, but I only used maybe 2-3 tablespoons to make 2 coats in the fuel tank after pouring the excess back. A little bit goes a long way. I still have almost all of the liquid in the can which is awesome. Its been about 1 month now and after several uses of my machine, the inside of the fuel tank still looks new. With the reflective silver coating in the tank, I can now use a flashlight to peer in to see how dirty the fuel is that Im using and see particles settled at the bottom. Hopefully this fuel tank now lasts for many years. It gave a 30 year old very rusty fuel tank and machine new life. My edger with a briggs engine runs excellent. So far its a really great product and Im very happy with it. It was worth the cost despite the size of the can because of how small the amount of liquid is used. It probably could be used on a dozen mower sized gas tanks or a few motorcycle tanks before it runs out. The por-15 can doesn't need to be any larger. I would recommend this product.

The stuff is the real deal.
I used this on my Honda 125M 3 wheeler gas tank. I read a lot of reviews and decided this was my best option. This tank was rusted badly on the inside. I used Evapo Rust to clean the tank and it took 10 days and the results were awesome. The tank did develop a few very, very, very small minor leaks (the rust removal of the seams at the lower of the tank caused this) half way through the cleaning process. Don’t worry about the flash rust, it actually helps the POR 15 stick to it better. Take your time and make sure the tank is 100%completely dry, if it isn’t your wasting your time. I waited 5 days. This stuff will stain and get all over so be careful. I put painters masking tape all over the tank to protect it which also plugged the small holes where it was leaking ( they were so small and I couldn’t exactly tell where it was leaking from). If your going to do it right it’s a minimum 3 hour process. Add a few table spoons of POR 15 and start moving it around. Tip it upside down, wait 15 minutes, then tip it to its side, then the other. It’s a painstaking slow process. When it’s acting like you need more add another table spoon. It doesn’t take much. I ordered a 8 oz can and maybe used 3 oz. the directions on the can are the minimum directions. Be sure to look online and get the full installation manual . After I did mine I wanted to add more but didn’t want to put to much in. Afterwards I found the additional instructions online and I would of added more POR15 after the 3 hour process when it was still tacky. Regardless, it’s been 4 months and it looks like a brand new tank on the inside and there’s no leaks. The stuff is the real deal if you follow the directions and take your time. Please also consider I did my tank in February with very low humidity. Evapo Rust is also awesome. Well worth the money and buy enough to fill you tank completely, will definitely speed up the process. Unfortunately I didn’t take a before pictures. The 2nd picture is after the cleaning and you can see the flash rust.

Quality and easy product to use.
Great product. Restores the rusted fuel tank to better than new. It’s simple and easy to use. One-half pint is just enough to treat two 6 or less gallon fuel tanks.

Magic in a can.
This stuff is amazing. Not only have I used it to seal a motorcycle tank that nobody would have tried to use, but it actually stays! Mind you, I did not have any of the preparation products they suggest to use beforehand. I literally hit my tank with hydrochloric acid, Naval Jelly, washed it clean, dried it, and applied the magic. Por 15 does not seem to care about dirt, imperfect surface preparation, oil, gas, rust, acid, and probably some water and rust that leaked out of the vent hole. You literally just pour it into your tank, and swish it about. This one can easily did a 5 gallon tank found on a 1982 CB900C. It sealed holes a 3/16 drill bit could have easily fit, way cheaper than a new tank, and leaves a perfect film in the tank. It's heat resistance is also fantastic! I have used this to repair a cracked crankcase on a 1982 Harley XL1000, and it not only sealed it, but moves with the aluminum, and does not lift off. That's literally inside of an engine, and it didn't even have time to full cure.

Seems like a very good product and good value!
I used this product to seal an expensive metal gas can. There was no rust....the slow leak was in the bottom seam. The "investment" was worth every penny to save a $70+ gas can. There was plenty left over, so I also used the product to seal a vintage metal watering can....the inside bottom of the can was badly rusted. My only complaint is about the can's lid. Unlike a regular lid on a paint can, for example, the lid was made to deeply recess into the can. Taking the lid off was a monumental hassle. A normal paint can opener was mostly ineffective.....I had to resort to using a pliers. It became apparent the lid was never intended to be put back on the can. However, I had so much product left, I "jammed" the lid on as much as possible after sealing the gas can. About a week later, I decided to seal the watering can. Getting the lid off required a channel lock pliers, which destroyed the lid. A little product goes a long way.....you "slosh" it around and pour back the excess. My recommendation is to buy the small can like I did to avoid wasting product.....it's highly volatile and does not store long term. If you think your project needs more than 8 ounces, get two small cans rather than a larger size......a little sealer goes a very long way! Even just a week after sealing the gas can, when I reopened the can, it had obviously thickened a bit......"use it or lose it" is the operative term. Again, it's an excellent product as far as use and initial sealing....however, I cannot comment about long term reliability. So far, three weeks later, my gas can is nicely sealed.
