Well, it is really, really nice. Accept, of course, it is really heavy and it shipped lightly wrapped in a thin plastic bag, so of course it is dinged up and dented on the bottom edge. But heck, it still weighs the same. Right? Should be shipped in a box, not a plastic bag.

If you have a postal scale that CAN be calibrated, then this is what you need. Standard 5 kg weight, spot-on accurate. Follow the directions to calibrate, using this weight, and that scale will then be accurate.

Frankly, I feel a bit foolish having purchased this weight. I bought a very nice scale, and needed this for calibration (along with 1kg and 2kg calibration weights). But beyond that, I have no other use for this weight, and how many times do you really need to calibrate? Thus, my feeling of slight chagrin. It is very large and obviously heavy, very nicely made, and must be treated with care so as not to affect it's accuracy. It did not come with a case of any kind, which annoyed the heck out of me. I knocked a star off for that. I also knocked off a star for "Accuracy". How am I supposed to know if it is accurate? I'm using this weight to calibrate, so the assumption is it is accurate within M2 guidelines! But it is still a very nice weight and will be useful for my semi-annual calibration! ;)

This seller is wonderful to work with when I had a disagreement on 5 kg stamped on the metal calibration weight and I was expecting 5000 g like other weights from a different seller. Then I thought it read 5000 kg, which is far too heavy. Using Rapid Table conversion Website helped in a few days. I found out that the actual weight for 5 kg/5000 g = 5000 g / 453.59237 = 11.0231131092 lb, which is exactly as received. I thought 5 kg was a light weight and a bit heavier than 100 g. weight, which is 3.5 ounces. I was wrong. After much deliberation, the seller remained positive and understanding. Last, I suggested a slight revision on the AZ Webpage M 5kg stamped (equivalent to 5,000 g. = 11.02 lbs.) Again, it was all my fault! Will buy from this seller again.

Very Nice Calibration Weight. I tested on two of my bigger scales and it seemed accurate. It is nicely chromed and finished very well (I would call it Beautiful). It is approximately 11 lbs so don't drop it on your foot.

Does it's job in helping calibrate my baking scale. 5000g is heavier than you'd think. Doubles as a doorstop.
