Petmate Chrome Door Replacement for Model 500 Vari-Kennel, X-Large

I ordered this door as a replacement for door with a non-functioning latch. This latch broke after only 2 weeks of use. First the plastic latch cover fell off...I put it back on several times. Then I found the springs and rods on the floor...the dog was loose. This could be VERY dangerous situation.

My dog easily broke through this door. Petmate needs to totally rethink this design. He simply kept pushing his weight on the door until the bars snapped out. I had to reinforce with steel cables. Do not get this if you own a husky.

Incorrect size was recieved. The door had a label on it which said it was "X-Large", but the actual piece was only a large, so it would not fit on my extra-large kennel. Return is in progress, I'll update when a replacement is received.

We can not use it. Some of the pages had already been filled out.

I have an XLG Vari-Kennel, slightly old. The old door was quite rusted. This new door works perfectly. I don't "give" 5 start ratings except for exceptional products, this product does exactly what it should do. It was shipped in a 3' by 5' box... a bit of overkill. It was shipped on time and in new condition.

I am so glad I found this door. After caring for a foster dog with separation anxiety, my very nice crate was no longer secure. The dog bent the old door and broke the latch, trying to escape. He never got out of the crate, but the door was ruined. Thankfully, my crate is as good as new with this door and I didn't have to buy a new one.

It fits our old dog kennel but not perfectly.
