I would like to use in cat boxes for ferals that i tend to. Do you know if they make a crinkly noise? The cats would be sensitive to this.

That's what I use them for. I used 3M spray glue to affix them to the walls of the coolers I used. But yes they would make a slightly crinkly nois. However you should put straw (not hay) on the bottom of any shelter you make. Cats like straw. Straw makes noise too. I built a fancy shelter around the coolers.

what type of metal is used in the reflective coating? I suspect silver, but would like to know.

I do not think it is metal. It is the color of the mylar. I believe it is added in manufacture. I have seen other colors

are these transparent, for a window (insulation for heat in Fl) Can you see through them?

they are kinda see through. a little bit. but if you are looking for a window covering you can see through this would not be it. but they are great (though a bit tacky) for windows. cut a solid 10 degrees off my apartment this summer.
