Took me 13 years to find this miracle product ~ Truly astounding!
Before reviewing this item, I would like to clarify the following issue. There have been several comments blaming the seller for tampering with the product, as it comes with no seal. This is not the fault of the seller. I called up the company, and was informed that at the current time this product is being sold without a top seal. I explained that selling it without a seal gives the impression that the jar has been opened, to which the representative fully agreed. The representative said that she would speak with the marketing department and inform them of my concern. I was told that management does listen to customers suggestions and therefore it would be likely that a seal would be included on future shipments of this item. Although I'm not happy that this is currently being sold unsealed, I'm not deducting any points, as this is a review of the product itself. Now for the review. For the past 13 years, I've owned a male cat who has vomited at least every other day, sometimes several times a day. Sometimes he would regurgitate hairballs, but most of the time it was projectile vomit. Through the years, I've brought him to the veterinarian and they've never provided me with a diagnosis. They have told me that my cat suffers from anxiety, but the medication that they prescribed for this did nothing to resolve the problem. Over the course of 2 months ending the middle of February 2013, I spent over $2,000 on every conceivable test and medication. They even sold me a plug-in device that supposedly reduces a cats anxiety by simulating a cats natural pheromones. They said that when a cat rubs against you or an object, he's leaving his scent behind which reduces anxiety. The plug-in device was designed to do the same thing. While it may or may not have helped to relieve his anxiety, it did nothing to deter his vomiting. Over the course of years, I've searched the Internet in the hope of finding a product that would solve my cats vomiting problem. I purchased virtually every type and brand of wet and dry food, every over the counter digestive aid, etc., all with no results. The vomiting had become so bad that I purchased an entire case of Spot-Shot carpet cleaner on Amazon to clean up the stains. Sometimes the vomiting would be 3-4 times a day, requiring the use of an entire can of carpet cleaner. Our cat, Mittens, who at one time weighed 12 pounds(he's a large cat and this is not overweight), lost several pounds, and was down to 9.3 pounds by early February. Since he's 13 years old, we thought that he was nearing the end of his life. That's when things suddenly changed. I don't even remember how or where, but somehow after running an Internet search for vomiting in cats, I ran across this product, NaturVet Digestive Enzymes. Please keep in mind that I've been searching the Internet for years, and never discovered a product that worked. At any rate, I read the reviews for NaturVet and to my dismay the majority of reviewers commented that it helped with a variety of issues with dogs. There were only a few reviews that stated it helped with cats, and even fewer that said it helped reduce vomiting in cats. At any rate, since I've tried virtually every other product on the market, I went ahead and purchased this. Admittedly, when my order arrived and the top wasn't sealed, I returned it to Amazon. I ended up buying it from a different third party Amazon seller. When the second container arrived, and I learned that it's sold without a seal, I decided to give it a try. Fully expecting to return it, I kept the shipping box and brought out the packing tape, anticipating that I'd be sending it back within a few days. This is where the miracle happens. I started using the product on 2/15/13. As instructed, I mixed a rounded teaspoonful into a cup of wet food. Several days went by and my cat didn't throw up anything, including hairballs. A week went by and still no throwing up. A week became 2 weeks, and the success continued. it's now 3/15/13, a full month since I started using NaturVet, and Mittens hasn't thrown up once, not hairballs, projectile vomit, NOTHING. In the process, he's gained back almost 2 pounds and now runs around the house like a typical 2 year old cat or kitten. This product has truly changed his life. Never in a million years did I think I would see the day that his vomiting would completely stop. The day has now come. The bottom line is that our cat suffered from vomiting for 13 years. NaturVet Digestive Enzymes completely resolved the problem. Yes, it took me 13 years to find a product that would work, but I finally did. NaturVet Digestive Enzymes receives my 2 thumbs up as the most highly recommended product that I've ever purchased on Amazon. It is truly a miracle and I'm still pinching myself to make sure it's for real. Pros: Product TOTALLY eliminated a 13 year vomiting problem with my cat. My cat has gained back almost all the weight he's lost over the years. He's running around the house like a kitten. It's very easy to use. Just mix it with wet food and you're all set. A little bit goes a long way, so the product is inexpensive. My cat is happy again and constantly purring from contentment. NaturVet is truly a "miracle." Cons: Product should be sold with a sealed top. As mentioned above, management is reviewing this issue. Would I purchase it again: Absolutely, positively, without a doubt!

Digestive enzymes for cats
My cat enjoys taking this probiotic with his food. These chews made a real difference for my cat. Easy to give, gentle on the stomach, and helped smooth a diet change with less digestive upset. I noticed better digestion and overall comfort. A solid daily support option.

Great supplement for my Frenchie- not just because of the label
***update 7/18/23- I have been purchasing this consistently to use for my Frenchie and still a great product. However I received 2 shipments where the chews had clumped together. This most recent one resulted in many turning to dust in the container. I contacted the company directly and the customer service is amazing!!! Apparently this lot was older and probably in a hot warehouse. Unfortunately they don’t sell directly so I’ll have to discuss this with Amazon. However they are sending me a replacement and they keep records of these things so if you have an issue, I definitely recommend at least reporting it to them for tracking. Extremely impressed with the customer service from NaturVet and the product. *** So this product wasn’t a cure all that fixed my Frenchie’s digestive issues on their own. They are pretty comprehensive with their ingredients and even though they aren’t cheap and he needs them with every meal, they definitely aid his digestion and are a part of the combination that has led to a healthy stool and digestive processes for him. The will continue to be part of his daily routine. It means I have to give up a few things of my own, but seeing him have a easier time with gastric emptying is worth the price. I can’t say much about improving skin or itchiness, but I’m a licensed veterinary technician and the ingredients are primarily geared toward digestion. That alone is fully worthwhile considering the problems he was having when I adopted him. Even my picky older chihuahua, who eats nothing chewable (except a specific notoriously tasty heartworm preventative) - will want one of these too when I bring the bottle out. He has refused every single other supplement I’ve tried to give him, but he loves these. A little help with digestion won’t cause him any harm either. I tried a few other probiotics, and yes- I used each for about a month to try to help him out. I should have just these by the Frenchie on the bottle after all. ;)

Noticeable results, but watch which packaging you buy
I wrote the earlier review below the line, but feel I must add to it at this point. While I still feel that this is an excellent product, be aware that the form in the jars and the form in the bag ARE NOT THE SAME. I was buying the 1lb powder through subscription. For some reason that became unavailable and the packaged enzymes were recommended as a replacement. When I got them, I noticed that while the resulting analysis is exactly the same, a dose or serving between the 1 pound product and the bagged products exists. A serving of the 1 pound jar is a rounded 1/4 teaspoon. A Serving of the bagged version is TWO teaspoons or almost 8 TIMES the amount. While the 10oz bag LOOKS like a good deal, it would take roughly 80 ozs to equal 10 oz of that in a jar. As far as I can tell, the product in the jars is a MUCH better deal than that in the bag, and the 1 pound jar is the best buy. I wrote to NaurVet to ask them about the difference. That was more than a week ago and I got no response. ___________INITIAL REVIEW_______________________________ If you are a dog owner, by this time you have seen various articles about the importance of digestion in mitigating a number of health issues (makes you wonder why they aren't saying the same thing about humans right?). Anyway, having three dogs with an array of issues on the poor digestion list (allergy, foul gas, arthritis / inflammation, etc) I figured I would try the best combination of pre-biotic, probiotic, digestive enzymes I could find. I started seeing improvements within a few days. The only recommended ingredient missing from this product is mushrooms. Yep, do some research and mushrooms are good for us and our four legged companions. However, finding a combination with mushrooms is about 3 times the price and that puts it WAY out of my range. Luckily, the NautrVet is reasonably priced and helpful. It is on my subscription list now. Works as intended
This supplement helps my cat, with pancreatitis, not to throw up after his meals. I also believe it helps reduce hairballs from both of my cats. My female cat had hairball issues and now she doesn't. The only change I've made for her is this supplement. It doesn't advertise hairball reduction but it's an affect on my cats.

WARNING: Product Only Safe For Healthy-Liver Pets
Warning: Do Not Use Probiotics In Liver Compromised Animals (or humans for that matter) Without Carefully Selecting Strains. The enzyme formula here is excellent and well balanced and, while I certainly recommend that portion of this product, I cannot recommend the product overall as this formula also contains probiotics. Probiotics are both helpful and dangerous in cases of Liver Disease, certain viral infections that can harm the liver, certain bowel conditions and in cases of portosystemic shunting, even acquired shunting which is less severe. The helpfulness of some strains, specifically some strains of lactobacilli, has been established as actually aiding in reducing the process that results from other strains of gut bacteria (both good and bad strains), up to a point and the effect is dose specific. To be clear, the process by which bacteria, including some probiotics, can harm animals, in opposite of the help certain lactobacilli generally provide, is the production of ammonia as a byproduct of the bacteria's normal functioning. This ammonia exacerbates the illness in the animal, illness that you must confirm is not present before you use this or any other probiotic formula. The production of ammonia is not a side effect you can undo by adding lactobacilli if you are forcing other strains into the animal at the same time, though the inclusion of certain lactobacilli in certain amounts can help keep it from being worse, by offering, essentially, bacterial competition. However, ammonia will continue to build up, unlike in healthy humans and pets where a healthy liver is able to process the ammonia out. In an ill animal, the liver cannot detoxify the body and the animal becomes ill as the ammonia builds up. If cat or dog is young and healthy, this product is wonderful. If they are older and you have them tested regularly and are confirmed to have absolutely perfect liver values (low-normal to mid-normal but never high-end normal), then they will benefit from this formula and it will aid in their digestion. If, however, your baby is like one of my babies, suffering a weakened liver, this product could be harmful to them and you should discontinue use. If you wish to aid them with probiotics, select a limited strain formula of exclusively "lactobacillus" strains, knowing that you are still taking a risk as this "helpful" bacteria is not always helpful and has not been studied in animals for safe dosage in hepatic pets. As to the enzymes, at this time, I am still looking for a product with enzymes that does not contain any probiotics, save a low dose of specific and isolated strains of lactobacilli to test and see if he gets sick again (as other formulas, including this one, have proven harmful to my little cat. I should state that I am using this product without difficulty in two dogs (young and healthy dogs). My one star rating is for the failure of the manufacturer to warn of the danger to liver compromised animals and, quite frankly, for forcing those who need enzymes to also use probiotics when so many animals just can't have them, even strains beneficial to hepatic humans. In any combination product, the bacteria should come exclusively from forms of lactobacillus bacteria, which they appear to have achieved, however, as too many owners cannot afford to constantly monitor ammonia levels and liver enzymes absent active illness (vomiting and the like), it is not acceptable to force probiotics with no warning (or at all). Good luck in finding a products that meets your needs. I will update this if I find a product that works for my hepatic cat.

My cat will not eat this no matter how hard I try to disguise it
I bought an enzyme based product for my dog that worked wonders for her. I had high hopes for this enzyme product for my cat, but I'll never know if it would have worked for him or not because he won't eat it no matter how hard I try to make it more appealing to him. I wish I could find the same ingredients in a liquid form. He's very good about taking liquid medicine.
