Excellent quality and carves easily, nice and sharp. Bigger than expected with long handle but it's the go too tool at the minute for carving spoons.

Solid, feels easily workable in the hand. Comes with a decent, sharp edge straight out of the box. Appears to have relatively high carbon content steel, so should keep an edge for a while. Nothing beats it on price I think.

Awesome gouge a game changer for me

Picked this up to carve small bowls and spoons. It needed a bit of sharpening and honing out of the box for my purposes. Holds an edge reasonably well, probably would last longer with Green wood-So far I’ve been working some awkwardly grained sweet chestnut, and it’s handled it ok. Speaking of - The handle is not a great shape for me, tapering toward the ferrule, could do with a bigger ridge at the fore, to grip more securely. But for the price you won’t find a better gouge.

I ordered this with high hopes and it did not disappoint, ergonomic, stylish and came shaving sharp. On a side note, while I ordered this on amazon, I have since discovered their online shop and in the future when I buy more tools from beavercraft I will do so directly (as I understand it, amazon takes a commission).

I use this gouge for hollowing out a half round log to make a shallow fruit trough for apples & oranges. Really impressed with the quality.

After two or three cuts in a piece of oak the edge completely folded. This is not a serious woodworking tool. Save yourself some time and money and spend a little extra on a reputable brand.

Sehr schöner Hohlbeitel und sehr scharf , kam genau zu richtigen Zeitpunkt + sofort ausprobiert . Läßt sich wunderbar mit arbeiten , die angefangene Schale war im nu fertig !!!! gerne wieder bestelle ich dort Werkzeuge !!!

Strong, sharp and well made. I read a lot of reviews on different carving tools and settled on this one. Well worth the price. Started using it to carve a kuksa in a piece of burl mountain ash as soon as I got it. Works great. Holds an edge and sharpens easily. If starting out I would recommend this tool. I definitely enjoy using it.
