Review: Impressive - Now that my son is older and buying his own gear I have gone back to Shimano. 🙂 The Stradic FL series seems to have many excellent reviews. I’m very impressed with this reel in the 1000 series. Solidly built but still light enough for an ultra-light 7 foot crappie setup. They claim the spool’s new design improves distance. After having a chance to use it I do think it helps a bit. Bear in mind that I am throwing 1/64th thru 1/8 jig heads. YMMV. Overall, nice little reel. Very happy with this purchase.

A: a 3000 size reel, with 10# or 15# braided line.

**Q: What's the max line weight for the Stradic 1000**
A: there's no max. You could put 100lb braid if you wanted, you just wouldn't get that much line. Typically if you are using 1000 size, most would use 8-12lb braid. The max drag is around 10lbs...

**Q: Does this reel have the long stroke spool ?**
A: yes

**Q: Is the 3000 good enough for inshore fishing for Reds up to 30 inches?**
A: I’m sorry but I would have guided you a couple sizes up. These 3000 must be huge? I’m comparing it to all PENN 3000. Those are to small, much to small for drums.

This is the best reel I've ever owned and I've been fishing for 50 years. Smooth, lightweight and never any issues even after the reel was completely submerged for over a minute. I do a LOT of fishing and this is my new go-to reel.
