Are you shy or self-conscious when it comes to sex? Do you want to learn how to enhance the pleasure you derive from sex? The revised and expanded edition of Becoming Orgasmic provides a program designed to help anyone overcome the myriad obstacles to complete sexual satisfaction. Whether married or single, young or old, the program presented in these pages will help you feel comfortable with yourself and your ideas about sex and enable you to grow as a person. Becoming Orgasmic will help you: -Evaluate your sexual history and put it in perspective -Explore your body through touch -Understand the effects of pregnancy, menstruation, and menopause on sexual desire and response -Be comfortable with your body and yourself as a woman -Share self-discovery with your partner -Find techniques to try if something turns you off -Overcome the fear of orgasm -Learn how to bring yourself to orgasm -Practice safe sex in today's worldโprecautionary measures, social expectations, personal values, and choosing a partner in the age of AIDS A personal and sensitively written book that is also informative, Becoming Orgasmic is designed to make you feel good about your sexuality and yourself. Review: THE classic self-help book for women. - This was a pioneering book back in the 70s and 80s, and it is still just as excellent now as it was then. Many of the more recent books on the same topic are just clones and rehashes of this one, and many are not as good because they are more interested in promoting specific therapists than actually helping you solve problems. Rather than duplicate all the other five-star reviews, I thought I would add two bits of information that may be helpful to women who have worked through the program in the book and want to know, what next? The first half of the book is a guided journey of self-exploration, to help you get (re)acquainted with your body and your thinking about things like sex, nudity, your self-image, and your sexual wants and needs. Learning to give pleasure to yourself is an essential part of the program. Most women will manage just fine if they follow the program step-by-step, but some will stall out just before graduation: your first solo orgasm. If you get that far and get stuck, I recommend Betty Dobson's website. She's been teaching women to orgasm for 40 years and has over 200 hundred posts specifically on how to orgasm. This is probably the best starting point: http://dodsonandross.com/sexfeature/first-time-orgasm. Once you have successfully graduated from the program in the first half of the book, the second half is devoted to helping you become orgasmic during sex with a partner. Although the authors never mention this by name, the exercises for couples are based on the key elements of tantric sex. (For a point-by-point comparison, see my article at http://moderntantra.blogspot.com/2015/05/becoming-orgasmic-tantra-as-therapy.html.) However, what the authors are able to include here is necessarily just an intro to this especially powerful and enjoyable approach to sex. As you complete the program with your partner, the two of you may be wondering where to go for more. If that's the case, your best choice is moderntantra.blogspot.com. It's a complete manual for tantric sex, without any of the spiritual or religious trimmings that many people insist on adding to it. But that's for later. Right now, if you're looking for that elusive first orgasm, Becoming Orgasmic is a great place to start! Review: Good guidelines - I bought it for my wife, and it has improved a lot in our sex life. It is not a kinky book of love techniques, but psychological attitude towards sex. I have read it myself as well, so as much as I can tell that these are some important guidelines for a good and healthy bed life, but once again, it depends how serious it will be taken by the one reading.

Good guidelines
I bought it for my wife, and it has improved a lot in our sex life. It is not a kinky book of love techniques, but psychological attitude towards sex. I have read it myself as well, so as much as I can tell that these are some important guidelines for a good and healthy bed life, but once again, it depends how serious it will be taken by the one reading.

heteronormative but very information
Would not recommend to LGBTQIA+ individuals as language is not inclusive, but has interesting information and exercises if willing to get past that.

Great Self Help book for women struggling sexually
I am a beginner sex therapist and I bought this book to help me better help my female clients. This book is very helpful and I would recommend it to anyone who is struggling with their sexuality or is a sex therapist. It's kind of dated, but still valuable.

A Sensitive Topic Easily Understood
I bought this book for a college course in health, but then we never covered the subject. I think the subject matter is geared towards those who are having this type of problem in their lives. It covers the psychological, organic and emotional reasons as to why a woman would have this problem in easy to understand explanations.

Woman Empowerment
This is the excellent book from which the Sinclair Institute created the movie of the same title which is also effective and well done. This book, while now somewhat dated, still has much to offer those women who due to their (religious) upbringing may be having difficulty to attain the coveted orgasmic plateau that each woman by virtue of her person and femininity should rightly claim. I highly recommend it!

Easy to follow and effective
Nice, well-written text that should be standard in any therapist's office and in the library of any woman struggling sexually. Very gentle and comprehensive as well as respectful in tone. I love that the text is structured, meaning that each chapter moves the person further toward the goal. Chapters are concise and provide direction.

As a sex educator, I found this book helpful ...
As a sex educator, I found this book helpful for therapists and individuals who are seeking help with female sexuality. The drawings by David Palladini, former New York illustrator are tasteful and helpful.

suuuper useful, and informative
I ordered the updated edition but got the old one! Very upset about that. Did not read the whole thing, but it focuses too much on masturbation as if it is the only method of treatment for women to become orgasmic. That being said, I have often shown other women many parts of this book that are so simple and enlightening and empowering. It is respectful, suuuper useful, and informative. It needs more empirical backing, but overall, I think this is extremely useful and I would recommend it to everyone going into sex and experiencing a steep learning curve. Very good!
