Ettore 48450 Bulb Changer Kit with Pole

I was a bit hesitant to buy this particular brand because it had zero reviews on it, while another option already had many reviews and about 3.5 starts so clearly the other brand was not stellar". Because I am one of the first buyers, I have the privilege of being the first reviewer. I received this yesterday, well ahead of the original promise date, and put it immediately to use. The pole is of very high quality, 3 segments that nestle into one another. The pole is made of aluminum with plastic ends that are rotated to lock or unlock into desired length (I believe around 11 feet max fully extended and 5 feet when minimized for storage). It made it easy to reach the ceiling lights on the second floor from the bottom floor. I was pleasantly surprised that they also include two rubber extraction tools in case the bulb breaks from the base (maybe I missed it in the description). Sure enough, one on the bulbs I was replacing separated and having the tools to remove them saved me from having to make a $200 service call (two sizes are included). The florescent bulb holder gripped the bulb well and after the install, pulled off it with no issues. i was a bit nervous as it was grabbing the glass, but it worked flawlessly. The only thing I would change is the suction cup attachment as it seamed to be a little tough clear plastic rather than softer plastic and did not grip well so I used the other attachment instead. Of course it's a balancing act because the suction cup attachment needs to grip well enough to make the installation, but not so well that it sticks so well that you cant let go of the bulb after the install. Anyway, I think it could be improved but did not effect me because they included other attachments that did the job. I would definitely recommend this product

We bought this to replace a burned out floodlight in the high ceiling over the stairs and found it easy to assemble and use to remove the old lightbulb quickly and easily. When we went to put in a new bulb, we had the same problem a lot of other reviewers have had - the suction cup stuck to the bulb. I mean, really stuck. HOWEVER, when we went back and read the full instructions we saw that we should have tied the provided long string to the suction cup before trying. We took the bulb back out, attached the string to the cup, and gave it another go, this time using the string and VOILA! - popped right off! Note to self to actually read the user guide next time! When used the way the instructions say to, this product works flawlessly and is sturdy enough we should be able to store it and use it for years to come, which makes it a fantastic value!

Several reviews have complained that it unscrews from the pole, and that it grips a floodlight bulb so tightly that it pulls the fixture out of the ceiling after replacing a bulb. Both of these happened to me, but were easy to fix. When it arrived the adapter that was in it unscrewed rather than unscrewing the bulb. Turns out the thumbscrew (mine has one, maybe some earlier ones didn't) was not engaged with the adapter. Turns out you have to unscrew the thumbscrew, then screw the adapter in all the way, then retighten the thumbscrew. It's then fixed tightly and works fine. As delivered, the spring on the floodlight adapter grips the bulb too tightly and it will pull a fixture out of the ceiling. Simple fix, stretch the springs. The springs do not grip the bulb for turning, they're only there to keep the bulb from falling out, and they don't need to be as tight as they are to accomplish that. Turning the bulb is due to pressure of the rubber grips on the fingers, which doesn't depend upon the spring at all. So just grip the spring between fingers, and stretch it beyond it's elastic limit. You can see that the coils are originally tight, and when stretched there will be a small gap between them. Do this between each pair of fingers, testing it on a bulb between each stretch. Don't go so far that the bulb can fall out, but it should be able to slip out easily when pulled. A one star product becomes four star. It loses one star because you have to monkey with it.

I only used the suction cup attachment so this review is only for that piece. I have a 17 foot ceiling in my family room with 6 recessed lights and 2 eye ball fixtures. One of the smaller BR-30 lamps burned out so I decided to replace all 6 recessed lights with larger BR-40 ones and save the good BR-30 lamps for the eyeball fixtures. The pole was around 11 feet fully extended and it was just long enough to reach the fixtures with my outstretched arms. The suction cup was a bit stiff but what worked well was to heat it with a hair dryer or with an electric heater just enough to make it soft. Then wipe the cup with a damp rag and its ready to use. Try to center the suction cup on the bulb to want to remove and twist it out. The set screw need some improvement but I was able to make it work fine. When replacing the bulbs, make sure you attach the string for the suction cup removal. Worked like a charm and was able to change 6 bulbs in 10 minutes. If you have ceilings over 10 feet, invest in this product. Best $18 that I have spent in a long while!

I am not stunned by this product. It works well once you figure out how to use it, but it has issues. Mostly with how it's constructed. The pole itself is extendable but because you twist it to tighten it in place it becomes loose when unscrewing stubborn bulbs. Additionally, each of the attachments has a little screw to firmly secure it in place, but because it is simply putting pressure on the pole it doesn't do the greatest job. I used most every piece of the set and really the only ones that work flawlessly are the spring ones. The suction cup for flood lights causes a problem because if you secure the bulb firmly in the center to install the bulb it is extremely difficult to get the suction cup off the bulb without detaching it from the pole itself. The two attachments to get bulb bases out of sockets (if the bulb breaks off) don't work at all. There's no traction for the attachment to grab onto the screw base and you end up just turning the pole with no progress. I ended up having to get a pair of pliers and twisting it out by hand.

Ich wohne in einem Altbau und wollte eine schnelle und einfache Lösung für das Glühbirnen-Problem haben. Die Verpackung hat mir schon mal den ersten Schreck eingejagd. Es war eine art Tüte um die Stange gewickelt und ca. 10 meter Klebeband von unten bis oben drum gewickelt. Hat entsprechend lange gedauert die Stange auszupacken. Als es dann so weit war habe ich bemerkt, dass die Fassungen der Stange anscheinend mit den Glühbirnen kompatibel zu sein scheint. Es ist möglich, dass ich mich dumm angestellt habe, jedoch denke ich trotzdem nicht, dass sich der Aufwand lohnt. Lieber borge ich mir bei meinen Vermietern nebenan eine Leiter.

Could not get any part of this kit to work at all. It’s hopeless, useless. Don’t buy.

This product is great. I had no problem changing the lights in my ceiling fixtures. The provided accessories gave the options best suited to changing my bulbs. Great product.
