I purchased this saw for the price, it had some decent reviews and quick delivery. Compared to other track saw's the price was reasonable. The purpose for the purchase was to trim the height of several interior wood doors which were now too long after new flooring had been installed. This was my first time using a track saw, however the Wen track saw made the task very easy. I had also purchased the Wen track which works with the saw. After taking measurements to determine the size of the cut, the instructions for the saw were pretty much straight forward. Adjusting and setting the blade depth, track locking mechanism, and making the initial cut of the rubber strip to fine tune the rubber line on the track was a snap. With my lines drawn on the doors, I started the task. I aligned the track with my lines on the doors. Each cut was quick and very easy. The track remained in place, as a smooth precision cut was made every time. No need for sanding or anything else. I was surprised of the results, having no issues what so ever. I did use a clamp on the opposite end of the track to make sure it stayed in place but as I neared that section I removed the clamp and the track did not move. The saw was locked in on the track, it never dislodged and I didn't have any kickback. For the results and price, I am glad I purchased the Wen track saw kit. For my task, it worked flawlessly. Unfortunately at the time, I did not have my shop vac to attach to the saw. But I am sure if I did, it would have collected all of the saw dust without issue. I can highly recommend this saw for cutting interior wood doors without issues.

in 45+ years of cabinet building, i've never thought i needed a track saw so i never looked into getting one. now that i'm 'old and retired' i like to look at tools and buy things i don't really need which is exactly why i ordered this when i found it in a package deal on Amazon day at an excellent price along with a discount coupon. i've been milling down some cherry hardwood i have that's just over 2.25" thick, the saw is advertised at 2 1/3" depth of cut and i thought that would be perfect for straight line ripping the boards, but that's the depth of cut WITHOUT the track, with the track it's just shy of 2.25" DOC. the package came with a 100" track and i wish i had substituted for the longer track to be honest. the track does NOT assemble perfectly straight just pushing it together and tightening up the track clamp/guides, i used a 6' level along the back side of the track to get it perfectly straight then tightened up the set screws. with the track perfectly straight the saw will glide over the joint effortlessly and you'll never even feel it, if you don't, you'll feel the transition from one track to the next as the saw passes over it. with the track straight i made a few rips on a piece i planed down to 2.25" which is the maximum thickness this saw will cut while on the track, placed the track on the wood and secured with the clamps (the clamps really aren't necessary as the track has an anti slip bottom rubber but they are extra security just in case) and made a full depth rip. the saw cut well without any bogging of the motor and no burning of the cut. to the eye the finished cut looked great. i then took the cut over to the jointer and made a single pass at 1/64" DOC and got a clean cut on the very first pass so the cut coming off the saw is glue joint ready for most applications. over the last few months i find i use the track saw more and more and it's become a very handy tool in the shop and i honestly wish i had gotten one years ago. i keep the track assembled and store it in my wood rack so it lays flat and is always ready to pick up and use and now i don't have to worry about assuring it's straight from assembling/disassembling it every time so it's a lot quicker to have in the 'ready to cut' configuration. a full track saw setup for less than 200 bucks that delivers on speed and cut quality, if you're on the fence about buying this, go ahead and pull the trigger, it's a good investment.

My first track saw, but I have been using tools my entire life of 62 years. Couldn't justify spending the money on a Festool or Makita before at least giving this much lower-priced Wen a try. I thoroughly read the manual which identifies the controls okay, but it is only so-so on the actual saw operations. The controls feel like very cheap plastic; now, I accept plastic in tools nowadays but I hope for impregnated or better quality plastics in key tool controls. These controls are consistently cheap and feel flimsy but they do tighten up, however durability remains to be seen. An example is the bevel adjustment -- when the pointer/indicator is set at "0" the cut is actually a degree or two positively beveled; to get to a true "0" vertical bevel, you have to bottom-out the gauge below the "0" mark. Did not examine the 45 deg. mark. The saw is really meant to cut sheet material, commonly 4'x8' dimensions, yet the cord is only about 6.5 feet long. Ideally the plug is positioned at the middle or near end of workpiece, but sometimes a nice 9 foot cord is just necessary, especially on a tool like this where you essentially walk along the length of the workpiece during operations. These saws are known for spitting out mountains of dust, and this saw is no exception. But unfortunately, no dust bag is included and the dust port is slightly small for my standard 1.5" shop vac hose, so it needs to be taped to stay attached. As far as cutting performance goes, the blade provided cuts clean and smooth. But I found I needed to make the cut in one pass, because if there was any stop midway it shows on the cut face. Perhaps more adjustment will solve the problem. Overall I will keep the saw but it is probably not the last track saw I will buy. Everyone says you get to love these saws, and if so I will upgrade as soon as I feel that love. The features I talk about wanting are likely provided on that more premium saw. But for now it is a good learning saw and the price is right.

Excellent value when paired with Powertech track. May not be as heavy duty as name brand saws so this saw may not be a great selection for commercial level work, but neither is the price. I've found the saw to be a solid, accurate, easy to adjust and use tool that I consider as value add to my shop. I was so impressed with this combo of WEN and Powertech that I purchased the same thing for my son. If you plan to use this combo for light production or home shop use, it's an excellent choice and an excellent value. Fully recommend.

In my opinion, this saw is an excellent value, and even though it doesn't compare to a top-of-the-line Festool TS 55, it is very accurate and gets the job done. First, a couple of negatives: the dust collection doesn't compare to Festool, but few saws do. It also doesn't have the right-of-blade splinter guard, but neither does any track saw that isn't made by Festool. It also doesn't come with a fine-tooth blade, a riving knife, or a nifty Festool Systainer, but then it costs one sixth the price of the Festool TS 55. If you buy this saw, I would suggest getting a fine-tooth blade. I purchased the WEN BL6556 56-tooth blade and it makes very clean cuts. I'd also suggest buying the POWERTEC 71387 55" guide rail set (2 55" guide rails and connectors) rather than the Wen 50" pair. 50" is just too short to cut across a 4'x8' sheet of plywood. I also purchased a pair of POWERTEC 71410 guide rail clamps. On first use, you need to cut the splinter guard. Use the fine-adjustment cams to eliminate play, so that the saw runs straight and true. You need a piece of 8' (or longer) material to support the track. I used two 8' 2x4s, since I didn't mind slightly scoring one of them. I'd suggest temporarily removing the anti-kickback cam for this operation. Assemble the tracks and place the assembly on the support material, making sure the splinter guard strip is fully supported. Set the blade depth to the scoring position. Place the saw on the track, with the starting end of the track on the support material. Make sure both adjustment cams are engaging the rail to prevent any left-right movement. This means the first couple of inches of the splinter guard won't get cut, but that really doesn't matter, since your cuts will start after this point anyway. Engage the motor and drop the saw to the scoring position and cut. If the support material is shorter than the tract, stop cutting, reposition the track as necessary, continuing the cut until just before the forward adjusting cam reaches the end of the track. You should now have a perfect edge. Now, when you use the track, the edge of the splinter guard can be placed directly on your cut line. One more thing: The Cen-Tec Systems 94181 dust collection hose works very well with this saw. Update: When I purchased this saw, the Wen tracks were only 50" long, or 100" for the pair. The current tracks are 55" long, or 110" for the pair, so I would have no problem buying them instead of the POWERTEC tracks.

The most important point of my review is that you should NOT get the Oshlun 160mm blade that other reviewers have suggested. You will want to buy a better blade than the stock one, but the correct size is 165mm, which means the least expensive good option is the Dewalt DW5258. Without the correct size blade, the depth gauge will be off and the scoring function won't work. Note that I found the WEN CT9502 100-Inch Track Saw Track Guide Rail worked fine and I did not need to spend more on the Powertec guide rails as others have suggested, though they sound good as well. So how does the saw work? Pretty darn well, especially considering the price. I did remove the anti-kickback cam as others have suggested. After doing that, carefully adjusting the two guides that slide on the track, and waxing the sole plate and track with some SC Johnson's paste wax, it slides wonderfully smooth. Regarding removing the anti-kickback cam, I removed it because it was a PITA to work with, but remove it at your own risk. I did experience some kickback once when I was stupid and started to slide the saw backwards with the blade still down, but with both hands on the saw it was pretty manageable. With the stock blade, cuts in baltic birch plywood were ok, but not great. With the Dewalt blade they started looking quite good. To get perfect cuts across the grain of the top veneer, I needed to use the scoring feature. This feature is an easily-actuated stop that cuts a 2.5mm deep cut first before you make a 2nd pass to cut all the way through. I'm not sure that extra step would have been necessary if I had a Festool, but given the price savings, I can't complain. Dust collection is mediocre, even with the blade change hole taped over. Again, a Festool is likely superior in this regard, but from reading the reviews, the Makita and Dewalt track saws might not be all that much better. My biggest complaint is that there is no hard case. I wish there was at least an option to buy one separately. Oh well, I'll have to try to make the cardboard box it came it last forever. Considering the cost of the alternatives, this is an amazing saw. I understand why some might choose to get a Festool over this if they need perfection, but I don't think the Makita or Dewalt offers enough compelling advantages to justify their much higher cost, except if you really need a hard case and want to save a little over a Festool. The Wen on the other hand saves a tremendous amount over all the alternatives.

I love this track saw and have had a great experience using it. I would recommend this to anyone looking to purchase a track saw. The only slight negative I have is with the dust extraction. The louvers in the dust port cause sawdust to block up in the guard. When that happens, the saw dust starts blowing out from the blade opening and the window in the side of the tool. I opened up the guard and clipped off the louvers in the dust port and am hoping that will resolve the dust blockage. Overall though, I would consider that a minor inconvenience, and it wasn't enough to take a star off of my review. I have been breaking down plywood sheets using a cheap circular saw and various forms of edge guides for years. I've never been happy with the quality of cuts that I get with a circular saw, and I decided that it was time to pull the trigger on a track saw system. I discovered this WEN track saw and chose this tool over the much more expensive options on the market. I really am impressed with the build quality on this saw. The blade guard and base are die cast aluminum and the whole system feels very sturdy and secure. The adjustment knobs are plastic, but they don't feel weak or flimsy when using it or making adjustments. Using the tool, I haven't experienced any flex or play in the system. The structure and feel in the hand is very sturdy. I ordered the Powertec tracks with this saw, and this saw was easy to dial in to the tracks, and I've had no issues getting smooth sliding without play. At this point, I have left the anti-kickback cam in place, and it hasn't caused me any issues with smooth operation. I know others have said it has caused them issues, but I haven't experienced that with my saw. The cut quality on this saw has been excellent. I am using the stock blade, and when cutting plywood sheets, I got clean and accurate cuts without issue. I used the scoring feature to make an initial pass, and then followed through with a full depth cut. Using that method, I got clean cuts with minimal to no blow-out during cross cuts. I was also pleasantly surprised with how quiet and smooth this saw is during operation. It is noticeably quieter than my old circular saw, and there was very little vibration or harshness in the feel of the tool while using it. Overall, I am very happy with this saw. I think it is performing like a higher cost saw. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a track saw. I am very happy with mine.

Have been resistance to buy one of these. There are some brands that you first need to refinance your house. The wen brand even though Chinese made is good quality and has a price tag that is affordable. Once I used the track saw I love it. With a good blade give a clean cut. On the blade do yourself a favor throw away the stock blade and buy a good one I like Diablo brand.

I've never used a track saw before and didn't really see the need for one however with the increase in demand in things I build for customers with live edge slabs and that absolutely everyone no matter how little woodworking they do claiming these are must have tool I got one. Let me tell you this if you are cutting long wide slabs this is a necessity almost an then once you do have it you'll find it makes squaring ends super fast and if you don't like using the table saw to break down sheet goods it is good for that as well. When it comes to purchasing tools I DON'T buy Festool as it's overrated and not any better built than several other brands but I do usually buy most of my tools from a fairly big name when it came to this tool however it isn't produced by many companies and as I mentioned I didn't even think I would need or use this much so I just grabbed a cheap one than seemed to have decent reviews. I figured if it wasn't perfectly accurate oh well I just wanted it to break down rough stock but I will say this say is perfectly accurate a breaze to use and every bit as good as any other out there. It does how a few quirks like the anti kick lock.....yeah just take that off right away it's a nuisance. I've used this on 1/4" to 3/4" ply and MDF as well as 1" to 3" cherry and maple as well as black locust, osage orange, holly, and patagonian rosewood not to mention it eats walnut as a main staple like a champ. You'll want to throw on a good blade (I used an industrial thin kerf coated rip blade from Freud) but so far I've never had it bog down on anything. This does have slightly less cut depth of a regular circular saw but it leaves very little on a 3" rough slab and it can be easily hand cut or re cut with your circ saw. Most of my slabs are 2" but I do have a supply of 3" cherry and have cut 3" walnut and red oak for countertops and there was no bogging down or burning which cherry loves to do. Lastly I will say you should definitely forget the Wen tracking. I went with Makita as it's the happy medium and the easiest to find in many different lengths but also Festool tracking is exactly the same as well. This way if you do upgrade your sw later your tracking will still work with your new saw. I conclusion if you're like me and wasn't really sure thi was as useful as everyone else claims it to be or you're just starting out and aren't sure where to best spend your money then this is the saw. It is cheap enough to not break the bank but also a very good saw that you might find you won't bother upgrading later.

Had the chance to use the saw a number of times so far on a few different materials like melamine, pine, oak and maple. Considering the cost of this tool (especially when on sale), this is impressive value for money. Build quality may not be best in class, but for a fraction of the cost of those alternatives is greater than one would expect. The included blade isn't bad either, clean cuts so far even through fairly thick maple. Dust collection works rather well - no it doesn't gather 100% of the material, but it is more than respectable. Definitely an upgrade over the mess a typical circular saw would make, and a boon to anyone with limited space. Accuracy of the cuts is very good - the one deficiency I've noticed are the markings for the depth settings, these don't seem to be correct. However, setting the depth is quick and easy, just ignore the markings and ensure your setting is correct. Safety features also good, not everyone is a fan of the anti kickback, but I rather like it. Paired with a good track, and some shop made jigs this will let you do everything you would expect from a track saw, and can stand as alternative to having a table saw. Longevity - I could not say this early on, but I expect to get a good bit of service from the unit Overall good impression so far.
