Giro Onset Snow Goggles With Vivid Lens Technology

I chose to purchase the GIRO Onset 2013 Ski/Snowboard Goggles because it was tested and recommended by several professionals that were given demos to test out and give out feedback.I actually wanted to order the Amber Scarlet Lense and order the Amber Rose separately, however, for some reason it wouldn't allow the Red Onset with Amber Scarlet Lense to be shipped to Canada (from the US); oddly enough, I could however have the Amber Rose Lense shipped to Canada.Despite the minor disapointement of the "Free Trade Agreement", I am satisfied with this product.I tested them out several times out on the sloped of eastern Canada (those that know, know the weather conditions) and I am 100% satisfied with this product. The Amber Rose Lense gives a nice crisp view of the snow, accentuating all the snow relief, which helps in determining what carving path to take.The Amber Rose Lense however does not tone down a bright sun all too well, although a minor issue which occurs mainly looking around while not actually boarding. So, I would say the Amber Rose lense would be perfect for those overcast days and/or night skiing/boarding. A different Lense for bright and sunny days would be more ideal perhaps a lense like the Black-Limo or the Grey-Purple. Possibly the Amber Scarlet Lense might be better, but both the Amber Scarlet and Amber Rose are 40% VLT (visual light transmission).As for fit, the goggle fit perfectly, conforming to the face and has a strong, quality strap and guides; in other words, the strap won't need readjusting after it's been set. I use these goggles with the GIRO Montane Helmet and they fit very well with that helmet, not to mention an nice, stylish, combination. For those that prefer style over comfort, no problem, this combination is style and comfort combined, so no comprimising there!The price is highly reasonable and worth every penny.Overall, I am very satisfied with this product with it's good price, quality frame, quality lense, style and fit!

I needed new goggles and read the raves about these. The persimmon boost is a great lens for the low light and foggy conditions at my home mountain - Big Mtn, Whitefish Montana. I was just skiing in BC with a friend who had similar toned Smith goggles. After trying his on in the low light up there, I found them to be about the same. I do not perceive the grand increase in visual field which the reviews have claimed. It has about the same field that my 10 year old sub-$20 Scotts have. For me there is no major perceivable construction difference between these and lower end goggles, in fact I think the foam is thinner and maybe weaker. They fog just like my old goggles. Different lenses are an additional cost. I ski a bunch in different terrain, and really don't think these have changed anything for me. Two cheap pair of goggles with different lenses for different light would have been just as good. Or a pair of Smiths with interchangeable lenses would have been fine at half the price. I know how to protect and dry my goggles well so it's not me. You can pay to look pretty but I just want function and value. Darn. I was a fool for marketing.

Coool goggles! No push button lens swap, but has the same spherical optics by zeiss.Blue lens is for BRIGHT SUNNY DAYS. A little dark for gray flat light.The Giro Contact has lens swap for adapting to light conditions. These Onsets look just as cool but without this option.

Sharp looking goggle. I have both a light lens pair and a dark lens pair so I have all conditions covered. My older pair has about 4 seasons and isn't showing much wear. I do take care of them with goggle bag and gentle treatment of lenses. The optics are very good and the field of view is excellent with this design as well.

Great goggles but not for wide glasses. There was plenty of room inside for my glasses, but every time I removed the goggles, my glasses came off with them. Otherwise they were great. I liked the feel of the fleece lined foam, too.

Have to admit that I first compared these goggles with Smith I/O and other top rated goggles at a local ski shop. The marketing of the best visibility is true. I have 100% peripheral vision . . . significantly improved over my older Smith goggles.Plus, the fit is great with my K2 helmet . . . and very comfortable on my nose and face. The visibility with the Amber Scarlet lenses is good for variable light conditions, but you need something better for low light or overcast ski days. Thus, I'm now looking for the Persimmon or Persimmon Boost lenses.

lens are great but when I wear it with a Giro helmet, there is a small gap between the helmet and goggles...it's tough to buy helmet and goggles online...

Zeiss and gyro teamed up for a winner. Great performance in the flat light, I genuinely love these goggles.

Diese Skibrille in "black-red sport tech" habe ich gekauft, um als Brillenträger, der mit Kontaktlinsen nicht gut zurecht kommt, meine Gleitsichtbrille darunter tragen zu können. Das passt im Fall meiner optischen Brille hervorragend! Leider ist das Vivid-Kunststoffglas der Skibrille sehr empfindlich. Sehr schnell kommen nicht nur kleine Kratzer rein, sondern oberflächige Macken. Diese können so gravierend sein, dass das Sonnenlicht darin "gebrochen" wird und man helle Flecken vernimmt. Ich denke nicht, dass der UV-Schutz darunter gelitten hat, dennoch empfinde ich das Beschriebene leicht störend und sehr ärgerlich. Ich habe mir nun sehr schnell angewöhnt, auf der Ski-Hütte und beim Transport ein HAD-Tuch (oder Buff, oder ...) um das Skibrillenglas zu wickeln, um es vor weiterem Verkratzen zu schützen (den Beutel der Skibrille nehme ich nicht mit zum Skifahren, die Brille bleibt auf dem Helm). Es gibt allerdings auch einen Schutz, quasi einen Überzieher, den man extra für Skibrillen kaufen kann, bspw. diesen hier: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B082FKZK8F/ . Den werde ich wohl mal kaufen.
