For tracing it is great. Actually the intent I got it for was for viewing old slides before I scan them as my old light box died. Last time I used it was about 20 years ago and the slides are about 30 years and older. There was a problem with this use as there is a dot pattern when placing the slides directly on the light box bed, however it is no problem with tracing. But I found a very simple work around.
