The Symmons-112N is a high quality replacement that is made of real stainless steel which will not rust! The ball is a nice strong nylon looking material. The ball was slightly bigger than my original part but I’m handy enough to be able to grind it a little bit and viola, a perfect fit. Again, high quality material but be aware you might have make some adjustments. This is why I rated this product 5 stars for quality and 4 stars for ease of installation. Review: Easy to install - I have never changed any pop up drain rod before, but it was not difficult. The worse part was getting under the sink. I had a 5/8 ball and it fit perfectly for me. The rod was a little longer than the old one but I did not have to cut it. What is the actual size?** A: it's 3/4 inch diameter - didn't fit on my sink which needs 5/8 **Q: How long is the rod?** A: It is 7&1/4 inches long **Q: Please confirm rod is made of stainless steel?** A: Yes it is. **Q: There seems to be doubt about the dimensions of this product. Is the diameter (not circumference) of the ball 1/2"? That would seem to be standard.** A: Ball is 1/2 diameter.There is a smaller size ,which I think is older not sure.
